A 1 Chimey Sweep & Masonry

They were selling a service where they come out to clean out your chimney and inspect it. I thought they were way more interested in trying to sell something than do what I actually wanted them to come out here to do. They were competent. They end up replacing a brick on the crown of the chimney which actually needed replacing. They also did some repairs inside the chimney that I am not sure that I really needed, to be honest. They did get me a chimney cap and charged me $250 or something like that and I seem to be the only one in the neighborhood who has a chimney top of stainless steel. I wasn’t tremendously unhappy but I wasn’t really happy either. They came out very quickly but I had to call them to come back and put the chimney cap on that I had already paid for. They finally came out several weeks after I called them and put the chimney cap on. I’m afraid they would have never come back if I hadn’t called them. I am not sure about the quality of work as well because we have some kind of black soot coming out of the chimney before the gas furnace and that is the reason my wife wanted me to call somebody to start with. But it is still showing up. I never was really quite sure they cleaned the chimney. They started out looking for everything and doing the repair work on the chimney and in the fireplace. I was here the whole time, but maybe I wasn’t very observant because I never really saw anyone getting down the chimney which makes me wonder about the soot that keeps coming out. I don’t rate them good on pricing because I didn’t check or compare the prices. I am a licensed engineer I have some experience with it and in retrospect I sort of feel like if I had taken the time to get pricing from other people I probably might have gotten it for half of what I got it for.
