The owner came out to the house to look at the problem. He indicated that he could get the problem done in a day. Being weekenders we gave him a key to the house so that he could access it during the work week. We returned the next weekend to find the work completed. Shortly thereafter we received a bill for nearly $3,000 without any detail breakout of costs. We wrote him back asking details on the costs including receipts for materials after which we received a revised bill where over half of the material costs were removed. However the labor costs still seemed exhorbinant with an inflated number of hours to do the labor. We then asked him to the house to discuss the bill. Upon meeting with the owner we mentioned to him that  we thought the labor hours were out of line at which point he reduced them nearly in half. Being weekenders we got the distinct impression that the owner preys off weekenders from Northern Virginia.
