Their workmanship was very good. They did a beautiful job at a really reasonable cost. They were really prompt.

My wife did most of it. They came in and did everything they said they would do. They had a very reasonable quote and the work has turned out to be really good. We will probably use them again for our driveway in the spring. We had looked around a lot.

The "showroom" is at the couple's (owners) house. The wife does the sales and contract paperwork, the husband is responsible for the work. We took pictures of our project, but sizes were hard to gauge. The work shows well and they do a good job of showing you the options and trade offs. The payment structure is aggressive. I believe 90% of the money is due by the time they pour the concrete (10% at contract, 40% at prep, 40% pre-pour, 10% final). They gave us approximate delivery dates and noted our color preferences on the contract. The estimate was $3500. (fixed fees for the steps and approximate cost based on square footage of the area at a fixed $/sqft rate). When it came time to prep, they called ahead to schedule we met with Jimmy (the husband) and discussed what we wanted. I think he might have forgotten the actual paperwork, he didn't have out contract with him, so we explained what we wanted, it had been about 2 months since we made the contract so some of the details were fuzzy to us (such as the name of the color, or the name/shape of the pattern, etc). It was a good meeting and very collaborative. Mostly we discussed the shape of the walkway, and less on the details like colors and patterns. Jimmy is knowledgable and eager to please, he took measurements. I believe at this time he scheduled the prep work, so we gave him the next 40% for the prep. On the day of the prep work, I believe Jimmy was there when they prepped the area (doing the demolition, putting in the molds/rebar) but I believe he spent most of his time in the truck at the curb. When I got home I had some concerns about the molds, they didn't look square, when I called Jimmy to let him know he said he was aware and they'd take care of that on the day they poured. Pouring day was scheduled. On pouring day, my wife was out of town, so I came home to see what they'd done. They had fixed the issue i was concerned with but they had stamped a pattern where they weren't supposed to. When I called Jimmy to express my concerns he was very defensive saying it wasn't something we'd discussed (it was something we'd expressed when we did the paperwork, it was in the contract). But he thought it would look better than our original choice, so I agreed to see how it looked. It actually looked perfectly fine, it just wasn't what we asked for. The big disappointment came when he came to finish the project (washing the powder/highlight). Jimmy came because I had expressed my concerns about the stamping. I agreed it looked fine and was pleased with the project, at which point he showed me the total balance, which was $1200 more than estimated. This might have been ok, but this was the first time it was mentioned. Some of the cost came from more square footage than estimated (which should have been mentioned at the first meeting, but he didn't have the paperwork with him). Some of the cost was in how he wanted to charge for the steps, claiming he had done more work than what was contracted for. However, he did exactly what we contracted for, but since he wasn't there for the contract phase, he had no idea. It was my word, against the "system" he and his wife have for writing orders/contracts. At the end I managed to pay just for the additional square footage (which I consider fair since he did the work, but unprofessional because that's not the time I should be learning about additional costs). He also suggested that if I hadn't complained about the stamp on the step (and made him come out here), he wouldn't have charged me. Overall, a mixed experience. They are good and knowledgable. I like the work they did, but the experience could have been much better. I suggest being very careful about what gets written on the contract since the person writing the contract and the one doing the work are disconnected and communicate poorly.

My experience with them overall. They are very nice to work with but you have to be careful while working with them. Carol is very good at letting you know about the price structure and good at helping you pick colors. We were very pleased with the final product in terms of quality. We were also very pleased with the price. Where the problems are is you need to understand their work flow. Their responsiveness is dependent on the weather and if they have other jobs going on it can effect their punctuality. The biggest problem is sometimes they rush and make little mistakes. For example, the price went up when Bill came out and understood the project's needs better but at the same time I let him know about a color change but hadn't written it down so that was forgotten. So I would advise to have things in writing and keep an eye out for little things. Be flexible when working with them. If your expectations are very firm you may want to choose a different vendor. We did love the finished product and they were very nice to work with.
