Tidewater Small Engine Repair

Did not use only as I had to get the riding mower there and I didn't have an inexpensive means to get them there. (Cost for repair and cost to rent a truck to bring there and then to pick up after would have been more than buying new! ** I'll probbaly try them on just a small push mower repair or blower / trimmer, but couldn't for the riding mower this time.

In all honesty, was some of the best service I had ever received. He was very thorough and paid attention to details. The turnaround time from drop off to pick up was a couple of days. I appreciatevhosbhonestyvand workmanship. It was a GREAT experience.

I mowed my front yard with no problem, but when I went to mow the back yard, the mower wouldn't start.  I have to mow the yard every week due to the leaves falling on my newly seeded lawn.  I checked the air filter and replaced it.  No help.  I began looking for a repair facility which could get my lawn mower back to me within a week.  One highly rated local company had screwed me once, so I discounted them.  Another couldn't get to it for 2-3 weeks.  I called Mr. Tuttle, and he said he could get it back to me in a few days.  However, he suggested that I replace the spark plug first rather than driving 50 miles to bring the mower to him to have him only replace the spark plug.  I did, but again the mower wouldn't start.  I arranged to meet him in Gloucester (50 miles from me in Suffolk, VA).  He started the mower and it immediately died.  He immediately knew it was a fuel problem.  He said he could have it ready in a day or so.  I couldn't get back to pick it up for about 3 days.  When I picked it up, he said he took the carburetor apart and replaced some seals, but could find nothing wrong with it.  Decided it was probably water in the gas.  The bottom line was that the mower started on the first pull!  He charged only $50 which I thought was a bargain for the service he provided.  I highly recommend him to anyone who has a small engine needing repairs.  He will be my "go to" repairman in the future, even though I have to drive a long distance to obtain the service.  It is well worth it!

Mr. Tuttle was entirely professional and extremely competent in his field.  He was able to partially diagnose my problem after I described it to him over the phone.  He was spot on.  He picked up and delivered my generator as an added free service as I had no way to carry it myself.  His estimate was very fair and on the money.  He delivered the generator back in the time frame specified.  He was extremely pleasurable to deal with.  I will seek his services for small engine repair as long as I live in the area and he is open for business.  A++.

All went went and I was quite pleased with experience and price.

I found out that they have moved from Hampton to Gloucester, but he did agree to come down to Newport News to pick up my mowers. It took a few days before he could get them, but he explained that up front, and picked them up as scheduled. Mr Tuttle had to rebuild the carburetors (which I expected) in both machines. The price was in line with what we discussed/expected and he delivered them back to me a few days later.

They provide quick pick up and delivery. Their work has always been excellent and is reasonably priced.

Professional phone conversation to set up the work. Arrived within 1 minute of when he said he would. We discussed the problem and he asked exploratory questions to further diagnose. In good humor he tolerated my opinion of the problem based on web research. He explained he would be out of town for a day and then asked me to call him in two days. When I called he knew immediately who I was and the status of the repair. He told me I was right in the diagnosis. This was notable in that he could have said just about anything and I had no way of knowing different. Point being that it was a relatively inexpensive repair and could have cost me an arm and a leg if something else had been wrong. When he delivered the tractor back to my house he was 5 minutes early of the appointed time. The tractor has been washed and cleaned as well as just the repair work. Bill was precisely what the estimate had been. This was a great experience with a local repairman. I have already recommended him several times.

He took our pressure washer the day we called and we had it back within the week. Very friendly and professional and definitely knows what he's doing. Good price too!

The lawnmower works better than ever, I was taught why my lawn items quit working and how to prevent the same problem in the future. We have a lawnmower which we could start but couldn't keep running. We dropped the mower off on Monday evening, I got a call that an extra part was needed on Tuesday, and the work was completed Wednesday evening. I was very happy with the quality of work provided and the professionalism of Mr. Tuttle. We'll definitely be calling him again if we have any other problems with our lawnmower.
