Historic Hardwood of Hampton

Don't give this vendor ANY money upfront! We lost $275 and I know another of his previous customers lost over $700. This vendor was referred by one of our property owners who had heard of him from a friend. After referring this vendor to several other contacts, our owner heard some disturbing news from one of the referrals. By the time we heard about the issue, we had already given Travis a deposit of $275 for materials. After about week of excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't start the job, we decided to pull the plug. I'm glad we did since it was bound to cost us more money in the long run. After canceling with this vendor, we had 3 other hardwood companies go out (all of whom had received great reviews on Angie's list!) and they all told us that the engineered hardwood flooring we had was far too damaged to be sanded and refinished and would need to be replaced. Based on our experience and the opinions of these other professionals, I can only assume that Travis knows absolutely nothing about hardwood flooring and was only trying to scam us for as much money as he could get. I asked Travis for receipts for the materials he purchased and a refund of any of the deposit he didn't already use. He probably spent about 1 hr of actual work at our property doing some hand-sanding around corners. If he was a professional, he would have refunded part of the deposit. Just like the other customer who gave him a deposit of $700, we'll never see any of our money again. I strongly recommend avoiding this contractor.
