Dr Krisi Erwin of Wholistic Paws Veterinary Service has to be about the best Vet I have ever known. She has provided such compassionate and excellent care to my ailing dog this past year. She came to my home once a week to give my 17 year old lab injections to help with pain management. She was extraordinarily kind and was just such a pleasure to have help me with my dog. The home visits were very fairly priced and provided such relief for my girl. Eventually it became necessary to euthanize Casey, and Dr. Erwin helped me through the difficult process with great understanding. She took such good care of my dog during illness and after I lost her as well. Dr. Erwin truly is extraordinary.

Our 13 year old lab's quality of life had been deteriorating for over a year now where his back legs could barely support him. He made it to his 13th birthday, though. We didn't want to put our dog down at the vet so my husband went online and found Wholistic Paws. We both sat and read (and cried) everything they had on their website regarding euthanizing our precious Dino. We contacted them via email. Krisi sent back a very touching email explaining the process, but made it very personal. We set up an appointment to have Krisi come shortly after that.
We didn't know what to expect. As soon as Krisi and her husband showed up, we felt very comfortable. They sat with us and explained the whole process from beginning to end. We never felt rushed. They were very somber and comforting. Our 11 year old wanted to be there for most of the procedure. Krisi especially reached out to her, which really touched us. As they were going through the process, they explained everything that the were doing, what would happen, and what we should expect. Right before they actually gave him the and quot;finaland quot; shot, they stepped outside and waited for us to have our private moment with our boy. They told us to take our time, however long we needed. Once Dino had passed, they went back to their truck to get the stretcher and a blanket. They even brought a blanket that had a cabin/mountain/lake theme because we had mentioned how much Dino loved going to the lake every year. They gently placed him on the stretcher, placed a blanket on him, and strapped him in. We walked with them to the truck and I will never forget her words for us... and quot;We will treat Dino with the utmost respectand quot;. That's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear at that time. When I went to pay, she said to please pay them when they returned with the ashes.
About a week later, Krisi emailed me saying that Dino's ashes were ready. So, we set up a time for her to come by and drop them off. I was expecting a box with his ashes and that's it. But, to my surprise, she showed up with a beautiful box with a lock and a gorgeous blue velvet bag that had an embroidery on it that said and quot;Until We Meet Again At The Rainbow Bridgeand quot;. Of course, the water works kicked in again. She took a folder out of the velvet bag that contained his cremation certificate, a lock of his hair, a condolence card with Dino's paw prints, help books for coping with a pet's death, and more brochures.
I know it will be very strange to refer them out to my friends and family, but when the time is right and it's needed, I certainly will. I can't say enough great things about them. We currently have 2 lab puppies, and of course I don't want to think about the inevitable down the road, but when the time does come, I will definitely be calling Wholistic Paws. Thanks Krisi!!

Dr. Erwin works with her husband Jeremy, and they make a great team. She never did anything without asking me first if she could. When everything was over, she even asked if her husband, Jeremy, could pick Brutus up to take him out. First she gave Brutus a shot to relax him, and for pain. She then gave us some time alone with him so that we could curl up and say our goodbyes before she gave him the shot that stopped his heart. She warned me that he might move, or that some air might be expelled. She constantly reassured me that we were doing the right thing, as that was my main concern. She did the cremation on a Friday, and on Monday when Jeremy delivered the ashes, there was a long personal letter of condolence from Dr Erwin, and a list of support groups that I could contact. There was also a letter from Brutus, which was very touching. It told me that I had done the right thing, and that he would be waiting for me.
