He did so much I actually wanted to tip him but he said that was not allowed for ethics reasons. Was nice to deal with a true professional and the service FIOS is giving me for the money blows away my Comcast and what I saw offered by Direct TV
Would recommend and would have Tim again if I need any additional FIOS services.
Monthly service since May, 2010. Verizon FIOS is a competent cable/ internet provider. They provide service as they describe in their marketing materials. The B Rating is related to price - These days the price seems to be something that consumers cannot influence to be reduced, so I just tolerate it. I like the DVR feature - recording shows allows me to watch them later at my convenience, and zoom through the commercials. If I must call their customer service, in my opinion the wait "on-hold" seems to be long each time.
I have not lived here long enough to have tried any other provider, so I cannot compare.
Eventually this got fixed, but it took about 2 hours to complete service.
Overall it took time, but now that it's running, there's no real complaints.

All I wanted was to add a third DVR. I guess I could have ordered this on their website, but no, adding a plain DVR is not an option. My only selection was a Multi-room DVR which I did not want. The online rep really thought I should just pay the extra few dollars just because they did not know to get me a standard one. She could not help me so she said I should call the next day. I called and spoke to a nice lady, but after 20 minutes of Robo and 5 minutes of her repeat the same questions I was not in a good mood. It took another 10 minutes for her to explain that I could either drive to Fairfax or pay $20 shipping for the new DVR that I will pay $17 a month to have in my house. She was not helpful at all, after 30 minutes on the phone all I got was a receipt for an item that I have to go pick up in my spare time. She should have just said, "Sir, if you drive to our store you can get the DVR or we will charge $20 for shipping." This would have been a 20 second conversation. Instead i spent about 45 minutes on-line and on the phone just to find out I need to drive to Fairfax and ask for a DVR.
This was the third bad experience I have had with Verizon. The Second was over my internet. I pay for a 50/25 which I get if I don't get unless I drag an Ethernet cable out of my work bag and plug my laptop into my router. on WIFI a get about 20mb on speedtest.net Verizon says I should pay $100 for a new router and pay $10-20 bucks more per month.
Around here you really have no choice in carriers. Cox Communications is worse than Verizon. The Dish neworks do not perform well in poor weather and their internet is extremely slow. I hope Google comes to the east coast soon.
