About us

Sisson Landscapes is family-run company with a relaxed and friendly approach to our business. We love what we do, and have built a loyal following among our customers- who appreciate the quality of our work, and our commitment to excellent service. We offer landscape design, landscape installation, and on-going maintenance services. Our award-winning staff includes Landscape Architects, Landscape Designers, Certified Arborists, Certified Horticulturalists, and Master Gardeners. On the installation side, we have built a stable of talented craftsman and landscape specialists to help make your vision a reality. Sisson Landscapes was founded by Denny Sisson, a Landscape Architect and Great Falls native with a strong commitment to the community. Denny’s design leadership and thoughtful management have allowed Sisson to grow into a full service design/build firm of 50+ employees with an upscale clientele who appreciate our responsiveness and discerning approach. Our production facility is located in Sterling, VA, and we operate a fleet of 15 trucks, as well as a range of heavy equipment that allows us to address any job- large or small. We also utilize industry leading scheduling systems to ensure that our landscape installations and maintenance calls are executed in an expedient fashion. Our design office is located in what we affectionately call the ‘Red Store’. Located at the corner Walker Rd. and Colvin Run Rd in Great Falls, VA., the Red Store is one of our town's early structures, and originally served the community as a general store run by the Fitzgerald Family. We hired Sisson for one year and then moved on to another lawn care company. They were more expensive, but we were willing to pay extra for a great lawn. The issue with them was that our lawn had brown spots and was patchy. They didn't seem to know what would make it better. They were supposed to weed regularly, but we had to call them to come out and weed all through the summer. They were great for mowing and were responsive. It is just our lawn looked poor for paying a company the amount we did. They said that the poor yard was due to the weather, but our lawn looked worse than our neighbors.

Overall the work was acceptable, but not exceptional. I had some continuing issues about mowing when the ground was wet. Their mowers would go too fast and tear up the lawn on the turns. It probably would not have been an issue on a dry lawn. They were also not proactive with some problems with insect infestation on my shrubs. By the time I noticed the problem the plants were very sick. There were some other issues where I needed to contact them, and response time was slow (several days) in spite of using both phone and email. Furthermore, the time it took to solve the problems were very long. In fact, their contract finished with outstanding items still unresolved.

I had a pool installed and the pool company left my yard looking like a mud pit. It didn't help that we had the wettest September on record. Denny Sisson came out and visualized a plan that I had a hard time believing would cure my disastrous yard. He was "spot on". The final product was so amazing that all of my friends have remarked that the pool looks like it has been in place for years - the landscaping is THAT GOOD. The workers were fantastic, industrious and capable and even worked one Saturday to make up for all of the dismal rainy weather we had. I was a bit shocked by the estimate, but you do really get what you pay for - and I got a fabulous landscaping job done. The stone work is really nice, the plantings are great and the retaining wall looks like it has been there forever. Highly recommend Sisson.
