Gordon Brothers Construction

I contacted Gordon Brothers Construction regarding the construction of a home elevator at my house. This company had been recommended by REMI Home Elevators of Chattannoga, TN. I was informed by Mr. Archie Gordon that there would be a charge of $ 300.00 to come to my house for the estimate, to which I agreed, considering that he had to travel from another city. I live in Williamsburg, VA. He had given me an initial ball park figure of $ 10 to 20,000. When he came to my house, he took a few meassurments and did a very cursory assessment of the needed work. I noticed that his mind did not appear to be into it. Now, the ball park figure had gone up to at between $ 18 and 25.000, adducing that the difference was due to an additional circuit breaker box that was needed. He received a check for the $ 300.00 agreed upon and a proposal with an itemized estimate was to be submitted of course, but I never received. I contacted him 3 times by phone and he promised me that he was going to take care of it, but never complied. At the time of the last call I asked him if he was really interested in the job to which he replied, and I cuoute, "No, I am not. Good bye", and hung up on me.I contacted REMI Home Elevators and I was informed that they didn't have any control over that, but stated that the ball park figure Mr. Gordon had given was HIGH.
