GREEN UP TURF CARE

Since 1988 Green-Up Turf Care has provided customers in the Richmond, Virginia area with professional lawn care services including fertilization, weed, disease and insect control, and aeration and overseeding. We provide residential lawns with quality products at the appropriate time throughout the year. Green-Up Turf Care is intentionally small and has never had more than two employees. We believe that in remaining small we can better focus on the needs of our customers. We believe business success and profit stems from customer satisfaction and retention, rather than customer volume. We have some customers who have been with us since 1988 and a good many who have been with us for five, ten and even fifteen years. Indeed, Green-Up Turf Care does not advertise, preferring instead to rely on customer referrals. The present owner, Thomas R. Helsel, acquired the business in February, 2001. Prior to acquiring Green-Up, Mr. Helsel operated a successful residential lawn irrigation business in the Richmond market. He holds degrees from both Miami University Oxford, Ohio and the University of Virginia. As required by state law, we are fully licensed as Commercial Pesticide Applicators and Registered Technicians under the requirements of the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Green-Up Turf Care is a member of the Virginia Turf Council which sponsors research, education and advocacy in the turf care field.
