Long story short, virtually none of the sod has survival after installation. It was not due to the heat, since we had a wet summer. I don't know why it all died.
We have a very challenging backyard to grow anything, either from seed or sod, and I was hoping Clean Air Lawn Care could help me overcome my years of DIY failure. However, not the sod, overseeding, nor regularly monthly fertilization treatments provided by Clean Air helped restore our cursed and quot;dirtand quot; backyard. I don't know how much to blame Clean Air for this, but I was hoping for more success. I could have failed again myself without the additional cost.
That said, I do value what Clean Air is trying to do: help homeowners take care of their lawns in a way that is not harmful to the environment, including kids and pets that play in the yard.

To call Ian responsive is an understatement. He was able to arrange a consult and schedule a mow within days of our initial contact. Prior to that, we had a difficult time finding a lawn care service. I'd also started researching chemical weed control and fertilization, so I started looking for organic alternatives and found Clean Air. We are extremely happy with their services and cannot recommend them enough. They have made our lives easier, and yes, greener.

We were SO done with yard work -- so much so that we considered a move to a condo or townhouse, but decided that we'd stay in the house we loved and apply the future, theoretical HOA fees to a regular yard service. In addion to considering cost, quality and professionalism, a significant factor (perhaps the most significant) was using a company with environmentally sustainable practices.

As a rule, I've don't apply herbicide/weed killer to my lawn because:
1. I don't want exposure to the poison (during application and anything that would track in the house)
2. I don't want my cats exposed to the poison
3. I don't want the poison entering my watershed.

Lo and behold, Clean Air Lawn Care apeared with their solar-powered lawn equipment and saved the day. Seriously, folks, it's SOLAR POWERED! They have solar panels on their trucks/vans that charge the electric mowers, trimmers and blowers. And, more critically, they don't apply chemical herbicides (though they will apply things like corn gluten) and use only organic fertilizers.

I sent a request via the website on Sunday, got a call from Ian on Monday morning and a quote on Tuesday, compared their quote to others on Friday, met with Ian the following Monday, and got my first service two days later. Ian was professional, informative and friendly -- and the first service was timely and well done.

(I'm writing this after just one service, but will update in a few months.)

        Update on 10/15/12

It's been almost two months and we're still thrilled! With the temperate autumn we've had so far, grass growth hasn't seemed to slow down . . . but every week, Ian and Erika take care of it so we don't have to. It's marvelous! They also aerated and overseeded -- I just had to water. Have I mentioned that it's marvelous?
