I have been using Vector for the past 10 years.  Yesterday I changed to a new system.  Vector's alarm system has significant flaws. When batteries go bad in the system, the monitoring system alerts you between 2-3AM.  Every time.  When alerted that the system had a low battery alert (which I asked them to ignore), Vector continued to call (at 3am), to inform me that there was an alert.  Never during the day, or as soon as the system was turned on, ONLY in the middle of the night.
Customer Service takes 20+ minutes on hold, and service appointments take at least two weeks.   I finally gave up on them due to the lack of customer service and their assumption that I'm a night owl.  I installed a new system at considerable personal expense as I was not confident that Vector was competent enough to protect my home from anything other than low batteries.

I recently moved into a rather large home in loudoun county. The home had need previously wired and monitored with a Vector system. I had the sales associate come out to inspect our setup and make recommendations for upgrade. It turned out that we would need a whole new system with upgraded hardware. No problem. The sales guy said that he would work up the estimate and get back to me. That was two months ago. I called Vector and they located the name of the fella that initially came out and said that he would be in touch very soon. That was two weeks ago. Is this outfit for real ? I would not equip my dog house with this crew.

I am extremely dissatisfied with this vendor. I have had issues since the building of my home over a month ago. I had a new home built and Vector was the preferred alarm company. We did have several delays in the building process (supposed to move in sometime in March '12 and did not get in until December '12). There are a few issues, and this happens to begin all of them. According to Vector's records, our service (and thereby warranty) date is March '12. This means that I had a bill for 9 months which Mickey took care of for me. Unfortunately, he did not change the service date to December. Also, some of the components were not working / installed correctly, so I refused to pay the bill until everything was working. Again, Mickey handled all of that, but again, did not update the proper service date. One of the components was the touchscreen in the Master bedroom, the other was the thermostat. I have had this system now for roughly 10 months, and the thermostat is constantly resetting itself. I get email notifications that at first I thought were the 'emPower' notifications letting me conserve energy. They subject line states that the thermostat temp was reset to 80.0F, and then another stating 72.0F. Well, it turns out, that is just the thermostat restarting. I have opened two tickets with Vector w/r/t the issue with the thermostat. The first ticket was met with a response akin to 'your settings are wrong', and the second with 'a third party installed your thermostat, take it up with them'. Both of these statements are incorrect. The settings are not the issue, and the thermostat was replaced by Vector when the touchscreen device was finally installed because the original thermostat was the wrong model. The support staff are sticking to their guns and going by the paperwork which means that my service is now out of warranty, because according to them it is almost two years of service, Not to mention that I have made multiple updates to the service tickets, for over a MONTH now, with ZERO contact from Vector. I called in this morning, and was told that the ticket numbers that I provided, from the alarm.com website, were not ticket numbers that vector uses. This is infuriating to me. Not to add, with this current cold snap, if my thermostat goes out, we have no heat. This is completely unacceptable. I would not recommend anyone using a service that is this unorganized or unwilling to respond to a paying customer.

We are backups for a neighbor's house which has Vector Security, as do we. Two evenings ago we were notified that there was an alarm from the neighbor's house and we needed to contact Vector on an emergency basis. We called Vector, selected the emergency option and waited for EIGHT minutes before anybody answered the phone. Fortunately it turned out that the alarm was caused by power outage but if this was a real burglary my neighbor's house could have been emptied within eight minutes.
