At first Matt was professional about the work, demonstrated confidence to commplete the work. Matt McClendon and a one other crew member came to do the work and completed the holes. Once the county inspector came by to inspect the dugged holes to approved the fundation to continue with the concrete and gravel the work was rejected by the county inspector because it didn't meet code. Matt had claimed he had been in this line of business for years. You would think he would know county "typical deck" requirements. The holes weren't dug at the required depth. That's when it start downhill on excuses on why the holes weren't being dug that deep that codes have changed to pay for a private inspector to certify the holes are being dug correctly. If a contractor is in business in constructing decks they should be up to date with county codes. In this case, this code wasn't new, it has been around for years. After sending e-mails back and forth, amending the original contract to complete the work I decided to fire the guy and end the work. As an adult and owning your own business you should already know other adults see right through childness excuses. I terminated the contract and won't be dealing with this company any more.
