John Walker and his team met or exceeded all facets of the awning installation and I would recommend his team not just for awnings but all services his company provides.  Prompt, courteous, proficient and left the work site cleaner than they found it.  Everything worked right, first time, every time.  John did a great job after the installation of demonstrating how to use the awning and make sure he addressed all our questions.  Have thoroughly enjoyed our awning and it is in large part due to the flawless installation.   Absolutely want to be a reference that can not recommend John and his team any higher.  All the very best, John M.

Great provider and very responsive. He said he would be there at 9:00 am and him and his crew were on time and completed the work the time they stated it would be completed.

Mr. Walker came out and we discussed the type of Sunsetter awning, including features and fabric type/ color. He was prompt, professional and friendly. You feel comfortable around Mr. Walker and, more importantly, he was not a hard sell. Was told it would take about 2 weeks and the awning arrived early! However, when Mr. Walker came to install it the next day, we discovered only half of the awning was delivered. Instead of Mr. Walker getting upset, he asked for the information from UPS on the delivery. He personally called UPS who found the other large tube in their warehouse. Instead of scheduling another delivery, Mr. Walker picked up the awning personally and began the work. Approximately 3 hours later the awning was installed, he walked us thru the operation and we are enjoying our patio now. Our neighbor liked what she saw so much that Mr. Walker is doing her patio too!

It went smoothly, we had a few delays due to rain, but that was all.

John Walker (head of Blinn Consulting, aka Deck Detailers) gave us an estimate on getting and installing a SunSetter awning. The estimate was reasonable, but we wanted the largest motorized awning available, and the cost was out of our range. Even though we'd given John a deposit on the job, when we called and demurred he was very pleasant and voided our check.

A couple of months later Costco had the awning we wanted at $500 off, and they recommended John to do the installation! We went for it, and John installed the awning today, just a few days after Costco had it delivered. He did a great job, again very courteous and professional, and he honored his previous estimate for installation, even though he didn't order the awning himself. He even came back later to make some further adjustmentsthat we were too chicken to do ourselves.

John is a very honest and reputable person who we will not hesitate to use in the future.

Picking the right contractor makes all the difference. The owner of Blinn Consulting, John Walker, is an amazing designer and builder. We had interviewed several contractors, and all of them wanted to build a patio with only steps for access. We needed wheelchair access to the patio and to our yard. John Walker had the perfect design. He presented us with a clear and concise proposal and a fair price. He did the job himself with one helper. They graded the yard to reduce the slope and built a paving stone patio and a landing with both a ramp and steps that is both beautiful and accessible. It took him two to three weeks to build it once he got the building permit. He double-checked everything he did with us before he proceeded. He is a smart and honest contractor and an amazing craftsman. When the city inspector saw the finished job, he said it is clear that the contractor is a craftsman and that we should let people know about him. The inspector was impressed by the entire job, but commented especially on the seamless transition from the ramp to the patio. We plan to hire Blinn Consulting and Design for more work.

I requested a bid (Estimate) on June 22, 2010 and as of June 29, 2010 I have not received a response from this company. I have decided to cross them off of my list of companies as a week with absolutely no response is unacceptable. If they are unresponsive to a simple estimate, I am not interested in receiving a proposal and/or having to attempt to contact/correspond with them after potential proposal has been accepted. A companies first impression really matters - promptness is important. Member Response to Service provider Response: A few other notes, in common law, 'slander' refers to a defamatory SPOKEN statement or report, while 'libel' refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. I think you mean I committed libel against you (which is false, ofcourse, since libel means that what I am saying is untrue -- which isn't my case; everything I have stated is the truth with facts to back up my claims.) Additionally, there is no 'deformation' -- I think what you meant to say was 'Defamation', also called calumny, vilification or traducement combined with libel. You should know defamation is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give your company a negative image. The REQUIREMENT is that such claim be false. In my report, the claim is TRUE, so there is neither 'defamation' OR 'libel'. Lastly, in your company response, you indicated that "The only message left was the initial 'call' that mentioned request for a low budget deck estimate." My response to this blatent FABRICATION is, "I never CALLED your company...I EMAILED YOU (SEE REPORT ATTACHMENTS). If you are going to post a response and lie in your response, AT LEAST have your evidence and proof handy so that you know which form of communication was utilized. I never called your company AND I was spending at or OVER $10,000 FOR MY DECK....'Low Budget'? I think not. Fix your business and consumers will take it easier on you. Blatently lying about what communication I had with you as well as your fictitious response to my inquiry is downright sorry business. BEWARE BLINN CONSULTING AND DESIGN, INC.!! I had no problems with you before until your company response proved to me what lyers and manipulators you are. Good luck with your future success.
