The Strong Oaks Woodshop

I found Strong Oaks accidentally online, I was thrilled to discover that they are local to me.  I sent an email explaining what I wanted.  The email was answered that evening, and I was invited to stop by the shop to discuss my project.  I stopped in the shop unexpectedly a couple of weeks later and they were very pleasant and accommodating.  The young lady (Mike was out at a meeting) confirmed my measurements and my verbal description of what I wanted and told me that it would be ready in a couple of weeks.  I received a phone call less than a week later that my project was completed, I happened to be right around the corner when I received the call and went right over!  Mike carried the table to my car personally, and the table is beautiful!!  They also gave me a nice letter stating exactly where the lumber for my table was reclaimed from, a local barn!  I can't be more thrilled with my night table and can't wait to have a tv/media table made for the foot of the bed!  Thanks so much Mike and crew!!

We have been looking for over a year for a nice dining table for our new home.  Either tables were too expensive, not the right size, or not the right style for our taste and needs.  I happen to be on Esty and noticed Strong Oak Woodshop and so I contacted the owner, Mike.  He replied quickly and send us some photos of prior work, but we decided to take a day trip from the DC Metro Area to Front Royal, VA to visit his workshop.  Mike was excited to have us visit his woodshop, as well as show of the historical building it’s located.  Though his shop is still a working progress, we loved the fact we could see all the projects he was working on.  More importantly, we got to see first hand our reclaimed wood options, and were lucky enough to pick some hard to find chestnut.
After visiting Mike’s shop, we requested a custom chestnut dining table that was 30" high (standard), 72" long, and 45” deep.  In addition, we requested that it have the ability to be extended with a center piece measuring 18”, make the table go up to 90" long when entertaining a larger number of friends or family.
He required no money up front so we just secured the table with a verbal agreement.  They kept us up to date on the process throughout.  In our initial conversation we mentioned that we were in no rush and the whole process took around 2 months. Once the table was done, he sent us pictures, and then he had it delivered to our home.  As you can see from the photos below, it’s absolutely a piece of art, and definitely a family heirloom now.  We could not be more happy and excited.
As for the cost, it was cheaper than places like Room & Board, Restoration Hardware, and Crate & Barrel. Not to mention this is a one of a kind piece custom made.  Amazing deal for amazing furniture, as well as being eco friendly given it’s made of reclaimed lumber!
