Terry was very nice and showed up on time to give me a quote on 2 large dead ash trees hanging over my septic field plus a couple behind it and I expressed my concern that I did not want heavy machinery going over my septic field that could damage the pipes and I asked if their equipment would mess up the grass. He gave me a price that included replanting grass and I thought the price was reasonable so we set a date. Afterwards I realized since he had told me the trees were not climbable because they were dead that there would be no way to take them down except whole and they would land on my septic field. I called him back to express my concern and see how they would be able to get them down without causing damage to the septic field and he said I could get other quotes and maybe someone else can do it and that I am being too picky because I am worried about the grass being messed up. Subsequently I had 4 other companies come out and all said the trees were ok to climb. Terry has been in business 18 years and probably knows it is faster to just knock the tree over carry it over to the mulcher in one piece than taking it down piece by piece which would take longer and since he is likely paying his men by the hour it would be more cost beneficial to just knock the tree over rather than climbing.
