Had company last year and this year. Quality of work last year was fine,this year not so much. Work performance by crews has been fair to poor. Trimming and edging not done or improperly done. Last time here ruts left in yard and turf damage where mowers were turned. If crews see damage being done then maybe they should stop and let me know. I would rather wait a week than have yard damaged. Told Mr. Dunbar and his response was he could leave ruts or let grass grow. Very poor customer service and professionalism.

There are areas in my front lawn that look horrible now (Stripes and dead areas). I have asked them 3 times to come out and look at my lawn. I have sent them pictures asking what can be wrong. He never came out. He did not honor the contract that we signed, and sent me a message that he was terminating me as a customer. I had only asked them if they could mow my lawn at 5.5 inches long. I was customer for him for over 5 years, and always paid my bill. I was hoping that we could take care of the damage, but instead he terminated me without a 30 day notice that is in the contact. I would not recommend him!

Mike is very professional and so were his workers. He was good with communication and if a problem arose he would let us know immediately. He was willing to meet us at anytime. He also had to wait to finish the job because of the cold winter and he came back the first sign of warm weather. We would definitely use him again.

The crew did a beautiful job on our sidewalks last summer and it has held up well through the winter (and very easy to shovel snow off of).  The color is a lovely slate grey, which we had to special order but it was worth it. We get a lot of compliments on the quality of installation.  We will definitely call again for future paving work under our deck.

Very well.  Provider answered message promptly.  Called back and arranged visit promptly.  Technician arrived as promised.  All done within one week.

It went well. They listened well and provided good, expert based feedback for us. Then they executed what they said they would. I would use them again.

A1A has been mowing a large (several acre) area around my home in Delaplane, Virginia.  I started with their service in 2013, and have been happy to renew in 2014.  From early April to mid-October, they come every two weeks (at a cost of $265 per mowing) with a team of staff and their equipment, and complete the job in a few hours.  The service includes use of a weed-eater to trim the growth around the base of trees.
They have provided excellent service, and were highly reliable throughout the season.  Scheduling can be difficult due to the unpredictability of the weather, but they managed this well.

Work included demo and removing and adding of walls; moving w/d/ hook-ups to a different place; all plumbing; all electrical including adding potlights to finished basement; tile of all lower level & kitchen & bathrooms on upper level; installing new kitchen cabinets (I bought the cabinets); painting of entire house; re-doing all bathrooms with tub areas tiled to the ceilings (3 bathrooms); building surround for gas fireplace downstairs, including mantel; installation of oak floors for living room and 3 upper bedrooms.  I supplied new toilets and new granite sinks, A!A installed same and supplied the tubs.  The work was completed sometime around end of June.  Late in the fall, a little attention was needed on a couple of drywall seams.  Mike Dunbar responded immediately and the matter was taken care of.

All summer long, our lawn was one of the nicest in the our subdivision. When the weeds in my raised gardens got to be too high for me in late summer, Mike came out with two workers and thoroughly cleaned out and mulched the beds. Great work!
Mike is from Front Royal. We live in Stephens City and would highly recommend them to any of our neighbors up here.

Three other very reputable roofers looked at his work when I called them to help repair the roof leak that was the original reason for my contract with Mr.Dunbar. Dunbar's A-1 Improvement replaced my entire roof but it still leaked. Each of the qualified roofers said the snow/ice shield that Dunbar charged for and said he installed was not there. One of them took several photographs which prove that Mr.Dunbar did not do what he said he did. One small strip was visible but that was all. One of the roofers was amazed at how botched the flashing was on Dunbar's installation. A1 obviously and definitely did not know the first thing about installing a roof...except how to prepare an invoice. I asked him to consider the fairness of charging for something he did so wrong and the result was a fiasco and he said he did what he said he would do. He is lying and I have not entirely shut the door on legal action against him. The statute of limitations is not quite up.
I realize he is currently doing something he can actually handle....i.e. mowing lawns...(ironically...he sued Tareq Salahi for nonpayment of a lawnmowing bill and got T.S.'s watch in exchange...Google that one for fun) but he is not a reputable businessman no matter what kind of work he is trying to perform and I would not recommend him to any one for any job. I was totally ripped off by this person and warn everyone I know to stay away from him.

Overall, was a good experience and I plan on using him in the future for other jobs.

Mike and the folks at A1A did excellent work.  He and his crew provided some very good input and suggestions along the way too.  I am incredibly pleased at the transformation and everything they did. 
Look forward to bringing them back for our next project, too!  We were gone for the first week of demo/construction but returned and were here for the final 2 weeks.  The crew did what they could to accommodate us in having appliances and such to use during the process.

Everything went great. A signed contract is mandatory. It spans 6 months from, May through October.It is evident that Mr. Dunbar takes pride in his work by providing his customers with stellar customer service.

I have used A1A for several years for various household and landscaping work. All work was completed with a minimal of disruption to the rest of the house. The problems that came up due to prior, unknown code issues were handled with minimal problems or delays. Mike Dunbar's (owner) and his crew provided reliable and professional work that is second to none. All work was completed with attention to detail. I highly recommend Mike and his crew and will ask them to finish the other half of my basement as soon as possible. Additionally, Mike's knowledge of local companies doing other work has been of immeasurable help in the maintenance of my house and property.

I spent about $3500.  They came out in last week of February.  I would use them again in the future.

I am very satisfied with A1A Home Improvement and the work they completed on my basement side room.  Mike Dunbar (the owner) and his team of workers have more than proven themselves in offering a great quality finished product with professionalism and efficiency.  Our basement room was completed in less than a week and at a very fair price.  Everything from framing/studding to laying tile and finishing the walls, they’ve more than exceeded my expectations.  I will continue to use their services in the future, and highly recommend them for any remodeling needs.

A1A is excellent! We thought we were good in taking care of our property, they are better. Mike Dunbar, owner, responded immediately when I first called and the service they have and are preforming for us continues to be  top notch.
