Mike's Roofing VA LLC

During the installation of a COMPLETE new roof late last year, the team severely damaged the recently installed gutter helmet (uninstalled, bent, unscrewed then nailed original gutters and helmet), thus voiding the lifetime warranty. The Roof is fine, but now we have 5 waterfalls around the house that are quickly damaging the perimeter. We are currently waiting for Mike's Home Improvement to correct the unfortunate situation. It is only fair to, at a minimum, repair the damaged gutters or replace with a comparable product, in a way that it can handle the high volumes of rain we are getting in the area. I will UPDATE this review as soon as the situation is resolved.

Roof looks great and they did everything expected and did it well. They cleaned up nicely. They were on time and woked around the weather. All in all, they did an excellent job.

Everything went according to schedule. Due to the short days this time of year, the job required a day and a half. They did an excellent job and I enjoyed talking to the site foreman as the job progressed. He welcomed my interest in the work and provided updates on the progress. Once the work was complete, they did a good job with site cleanup. The only minor issue was the truck with the hydraulic crane broke down in my driveway. They were able to repair it in a timely manner but the breakdown left some stains on the asphalt from hydraulic fluid. I suspect they will fade with weathering and time but I recently resealed it (also via an Angie's List vendor) so was not expecting the stains. I'm very happy with my new roof.

I like the quality of their job and their price. However, they could have done a better job of cleaning up the loose nails.

I called Michael to setup an appointment and followed up with many voicemails to find out if he is going to make it for an estimate. Glad I didn't go with him as it would have been painful after signing the contract.

We were very happy with Michael E. Thompson roofing and the team that installed the roof. Mike was very responsive to our calls, both before and after the roof replacement. Nelson and his team did a great job with our Gambrel roof and the final price was less than Mike's original estimate. Roof looks great and we are very pleased with our experience. I would definitely hire them again.

Mike is very knowledgeable and courteous. He provided quality materials and modified the contract to include all specifics I requested. The installation crew was quite another story. I had to remove black marks from my siding, shutters, and garage door ... some scratches I could not remove. They did not comply with the manufacturer's instructions for weatherproofing the Velux skylights (I'm not saying that the deviations will cause a leak ... just puts me at risk if there is a problem). Debris from the roof also ripped open one of my window screens. There are loose nails under two of the shingles ... they are up high were I cannot get to them. I have contacted Mike by phone and email requesting he have someone remove the nails from under the shingles, and return my front window screen (he took it to have it repaired) but to date there has been no follow up communication or action from Mike. But for these discrepancies I would be pleased with the job. Update. No one knocks the ball out of the park every time at bat and though there were a couple issues with this job they have all been resolved. Mike and his crew made things right and the roof looks great.

Mike did a fantastic job and he was so easy to work with. A couple late season snows prevented him from doing the work when we had planned, but he stayed in touch and did the repairs as soon as it warmed up. His final bill was about 15% below his estimate. If we have mor roof work to do, we'll be using Mike. Great customer service!

Michael Thompson was very responsive to my request for a price quote. Once I chose him to do the work, he was responsive on giving a date. Start of work was delayed by bad weather, but he kept me up to date and informed on when he would start work. Once work started, his crew was very competent and professional. They were mindful of the need to protect plantings that may be damaged by debris from the roof and took sufficient measures to prevent it. They cleaned up promptly after the work was completed. The roof looks great and all the flashing, caulking, etc. looks very professional.

Mike is a great contractor and does a very good job

We like a lot of people have had very bad luck hiring contractors. Mike was referred to us by a co worker, she had nothing but great things to say about him. She indicated that the experience was the best she had ever with a contractor. After such a great testimonial we decided to call Mike for estimates to replace our Roof & Siding. Mike showed up when he said he would and we liked him right away. You can tell he is a good person and extremely knowledgeable. He explained the roof replacement & siding replacement process to us and answered all questions. Mike promptly emailed us itemized estimates for the work within 24 hours which was nice. We hired him right away. The entire process was absolutely delightful! They started on the start date finished the Roof Replacement in 1 day it blew our minds. The roof looked great! Mike & his crew returned the following day to install the new siding & gutters. That process was finished in 3 days & turned out beautiful. Everything was cleaned up & our yard looked better after they were done. They raked our flower beds for us during clean up. We will be calling Mike in the Spring to paint the Interior of our house. We are happy that we finally found a great contractor & someone we consider a new friend..

After receiving several bids on a complete roof replacement I hired Michael Thompson in the summer of 2013. The process was easy, the owner was involved, honest, and answered all of my questions, and the price was great in comparison to bids I received from the larger roofing companies in my area. They did a great job, cleaned up everything, and haven't had any issue thus far. My neighbors also hired them and seem very satisfied with their replacement as well. Would recommend.

The entire project went extremely well. Mike showed up on time for the estimate which was a great start. 1 contractor I called never showed up at all and the other showed up 3 hours late. Mike & his crew came in on the day we had scheduled on time & worked like a fine oiled team. They had my roof completely torn off within 3 hours. Me & my daughter were simply amazed at the speed in which that was done. They installed our new roof the same day & it looks great. The following day Mike & his crew returned the following day to remove & install our new siding & gutters. Over the next 2 days they worked steady & the end result was more then we could have expected. Our yard was cleaner after all the work & they cleaned up then before. Absolutely the best contractor experience we have ever had & plan on having Mike back to paint the interior of our home soon. Mike was referred to me by a Co-Worker at Mary Washington Hospital. I have thanked her many times for putting us in contact with such a great contractor.

The owner was kind and he gave me a price for redoing the roof and for a roof inspection needed by the mortgage company. He has not performed the work yet but I know it will be done in a professional manor. I will update when roof inspection is finished.
