This review is for the Alexandria/Kingstowne VA office (Angies List wouldn't let me add the Alexandria office as a service provider). We just close of the sale of our townhouse on 05/18/2018. My husband wasn't available on Friday so they had him come in Wednesday afternoon to pre-sign the documents. They didn't tell him to bring our bank's routing number and he didn't have his checkbook with him. Instead of calling me or looking the routing number up on line, they told him they would FedEx overnight a certified check after closing. At closing on Friday morning they told me it was too late to give them the routing number and the check would be overnighted to us on Monday right after the sale and deed were recorded. I confirmed our correct mailing address for the check at that time. Universal Title never bothered to send me the FedEx tracking number on Monday, even though they had my email address and had been sending other documents to that address. They didn't respond to my call or email Tuesday morning, but my realtor was finally able to get the FedEx tracking number to me around noon on Tuesday May 22. The FedEx website indicated our package was out for the delivery and would be delivered by 8:00pm, signature required. I stayed home waiting for FedEx, only to find they had a "delivery exception" because no one was home. I called FedEx only to learn that the morons at Universal Title had addressed OUR check to the buyers' address by mistake. As the settlement company, they know that the check is for the proceeds of the sale of the property they at that address, so obviously that is not where they were supposed to send the sellers' check. FedEx cannot change the delivery address without a request from Universal Title, the sender and all my calls to the settlement processor and the post-closing representative go to voicemail. What a bunch of incompetent people. Do not use Universal Title!

Everything went fine EXCEPT that against my wishes and their agreement to follow those wishes they e-mailed all of my sensitive personal and financial information over the internet without any protection. All of my financial info, SSN, etc. is now available to internet criminals in perpetuity. Six days after their e-mail I was contacted by my credit card company regarding fraudulent use of my credit card number. I am extremely concerned that this is just the beginning of the damage.
