Called Bill Harlow (owner) and asked if he could out for an estimate to replace my units. After having other companies come out for estimates, he impressed me not only with his knowledge about the products, but with air flow and design of the current duct work (unfinished basement) and the flaws it currently had. He also gave me the benefits of going with the 95% AFUE furnace verses the standard 80% furnace. I'm glad I went with the XV95. The price was right so I told him to go ahead with the install.
The technicians came out the following week and installed the units and corrected all the duct work for better air flow. The tech's were all courteous, informative, answered all my questions and Charles wanted to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction.
Though we haven't had any bitter cold yet, the Trane XV95 furnace has been great. I had the old "one stage" furnace where the heat would come on full blast one degree lower than what the temperature was set at and go off one degree higher than the set point. With the two stage, variable speed blower, it has only used the first stage with a low blower speed. It's so quite you hardly know the heat came on and has stayed at the same temperature. No temperature swings.
I highly recommend Bill Harlow and Stafford Heating and Air for their excellent work.

Called Bill at about 8am that morning and described the problem. He offered to check our system for warranty coverage, so I sent him a photo of the label on our unit.  He confirmed we were still under warranty and that they could be out to do the work by about 11am that same morning.  He also gave me an accurate estimate for the price of the work over the phone.  The technician came out by about 12 noon but called beforehand to say he was running a bit late.  He was courteous and completed the repair and system check within about 2 hours. The unit works well now.  I was very pleased to get this service done at a reasonable price within half a day of my service call.

Stafford Heating & Air did a good job overall.  They were able to get someone to my house before anyone else could, which was only a few hours. It was an easy fix. The serviceman quickly and accurately identified the problem. The flame sensor on my furnace was partially chipped and dirty. He replaced it with a new one. I was surprised to see that he charged me $62 for a flame sensor that typically only costs $15-20. Other than that, this routine fix was done very professionally.

I want to explain that I had three (3) companies provide quotes for the purchase and installation of a replacement heat pump system.  I didn't go with the lowest bid, but the bid that offered the most efficient and most up-to-date equipment based on a comparison of the 3 quotes.  After two weeks of review, I decided to go with Stafford Heating and Air.
I met with Bill Harlow (Sales/Service) and he went through all of the options based on the space available I had for the upstairs unit (small hallway closet).  I decided to go with their recommendation of a 15.5 SEER Trane system, and after a couple days for the company to acquire all of the equipment, one installation technician arrived at my house around 9:00 AM to begin preparation work on the upstairs air handler.  He explained exactly what the plan was for the installation and said that a second technician would arrive at 11:00 AM to begin work on the outside heat pump.  The second technician arrived on-time and by the time I had checked again both the indoor and outdoor systems were installed and preparations were underway to add coolant and begin testing.
Work proceeded as normal and ended around 4:30 PM that afternoon after an extensive test of the system and an explanation of all of the features of the thermostat, how to access and change the filter in the air handler, and what would happen with the first maintenance contract visit six months later.  Bill Harlow arrived around mid-day to ensure that the installation was proceeding normally, and this was something that I greatly appreciated.
The entire process went very smoothly and was totally stress-free.  Both the inside and outside of the house were cleaned up and it looked like no one had been there, except for the fact that I'm no longer freezing while sleeping now.

Lucky for me, Bill was able to send someone to the house on the day that I called.  A service provider arrived close to noon to diagnose the problem.  After taking things apart and checking connections, his diagnosis was a bad motor.   He would have to order a new one and return the next day.  He put everything back together and gave me a bill for the service call.  Ouch!  He wasn't able to give me an exact price of the motor but he did return the next morning with a new one.  He had to leave to return to his office to pick up something but when he returned he got right to work.  The service provider was professional and courteous.  When I discussed with him other work performed on the unit in the past, he didn't bad mouth the other companies.  A true professional who took the time to answer all of my questions.

Excellent.  Prompt and professional.  Purchased home and heater was turning on but not blowing.  Needed service anyway and called to get it repaired.  Did a great job and offered great advice on how long to expect the 12-year old system to continue to work and issues that may cause future repairs.  Highly recommend.

Initially called and spoke to the owner, who was very responsive.  He arrived at the promised time for the estimate.  His estimate was clear, and the price was less than a competitor's.  The installation team was prompt and thorough, handling the few house-unique issues with installation well and taking time to explain the system and its functionality.  Overall a tremendously positive experience.

I've known of Mr. Harlow since 2005, after living in a rental home where his company performed maintenance on the HVAC unit.  I consulted with Bill to improve the airflow of our upstairs heat pump (in our new home) to adequately handle the oppressive heat and humidity during the summer months.
We had several ducts in various locations receiving little to no airflow, most notably, two of the upstairs bedrooms.  The best the heat pump could do in the best case scenario was keep the upstairs about 10 degrees above outside air temperature, so if it was 95 degrees outside, it was 85-86 upstairs, even after sunset!!
After ensuring the heat pump was working correctly and had the proper rated output (tonnage) for the home, he examined the upstairs ducting installed by the builder, called "flex duct".
In several instances, the work was not routed by the most direct route from the vents to the HVAC unit, and in one case, the ducting was wrapped 180 degrees away from the direction of the vent it was servicing.  Bill provided a quote and scheduled work within a week of the visit--impressive since he had a full plate of work in early June.
The main flex duct running the length of the house was removed and replaced with 10 inch, insulated steel duct.  Various flex duct running to closets and bathrooms were shortened, and a more direct route of duct was used from the unit to the vents running to the hot bedrooms.  As a result, we had dramatically improved airflow to the master bedroom, as well as improved airflow and cooling to the front bedrooms, which face the west as the afternoon sun bears down.
Mr Harlow's crew was courteous, efficient, and took the time to answer all of my questions without complaint.  I highly recommend Stafford Heating and Air to all, and will have them back for Fall tune-up--Excellent Work.

Chris was the technician - I initially thought he was very good, but he did NOT complete check up on the furnace; used an excuse; I complained and another service tech (Jerry) did a thorough check.
After 4 months, I had had problems with the Trane unit purchased - a factory defect in welding the evaporator coil that goes in the air handler. Initially, the leak source was not detected; was refilled, lasted a month, then a LARGE leak was detected, a bad weld, and new evaporator was ordered. Trane did NOT treat this as a priority. After a week, the WRONG UNIT replacement was provided.
This was still not treated as a priority, and so I waited another week. The replacement was finally made and unit is now working well.
Bill (the owner) tries to do the right thing, but didn't do enough to require the replacement unit be delivered quickly. When I complained, he said that "priority shipping of $350 would be at customer expense." I was without A/C for 2 1/2 weeks. Once the unit did arrive, it was installed promptly.
All in all, if you are going to have work done, request Jerry (first) and Charles (second); I would take a pass on Chris - tough to trust him. I believe Bill is a honorable guy albeit a small business owner that has been hit by the economic downturn. A small operation with limited personnel.
I would not recommend the Trane unit due to my experiences.

My Mom's heatpump stopped working suddenly after a storm and it was going to have to be replaced.  I had another company come out in addition to Stafford Heating and Air to provide me with a proposal.  Right off the bat it was evident that Stafford Heating and Air was there to provide us with an honest proposal and not to sell unnecessary repair work.  In fact the owner himself came out  and was very respectful that my parents were elderly and would not even think about recommending anything they would not need.   Given how stressful it was to even have to find a company to do the work with all the horror stories I have heard about people getting ripped off,  I felt I made the right decision by trusting Stafford Heating and Air to replace the unit.  They were prompt and professional.  I was so comfortable with them that I hired them to perform routine work on my home as well.  I think I've found a company I can rely on for years to come and not feel like I'm going to be taken to the cleaners and get shotty work along with recommendations for unnecessary repair work. Anyone living in the Stafford Area needs to consider this local company before committing to anyone else.

He was the most courteous service man I have ever had out to the house.  We had a leak in the downstairs unit which is almost 20 years old and he added a pipe that will allow us to clean the system out on our own if it happens again.  He said the filter and one other part was clogged.  It hadn't been checked in about 2 years, so it was our own fault.  He worked quickly, checking the outside a/c units as well.  I am very please with this service and will definitely use them again.  The only glitch we had was scheduling.  The owner Bill and I had set up a time for Charles to come out last week but Charles had an auto accident the day prior to his scheduled visit with me so we waited an extra week to get service.  It was not a problem since it was not an emergency.  I don't know about follow up phone calls from their end as my voice mail isn't working, so I don't want to judge them in this area.
