Love the personnel here. Laurie, the owner, has a great sense of humor, and unlimited patience with dogs and people if they are truly dedicated to creating a better partnership with their dog. Jackie does a great job instructing and training, and I value her input and opinion highly.
The day care staff is patient and caring, and always have funny stories to tell me about how the day went with my dog, and I have seen them do likewise with other daycare clients. I understand the reasoning behind not allowing owners into the day care area. It can be disruptive to the dynamics of the day care with a "strangers" walking in and out.
I don't know how these 2 important facts get lost in the shuffle, but if you feel you dog has not completed a particular training class to you satisfaction, upon request, Laurie allow you to repeat the class free of charge. Who else does that? Also, ANY potential client is encouraged to come watch any and all classes prior to signing up their pup. I find the best way to contact PNI is via email because I don't have to worry about catching someone at busy moment.
I realized training my dog is not a "one shot deal and done". It is an ongoing commitment that happens every moment I share with my dog, and makes my day to day to living with them so much easier. Personally, I enjoy taking continuous classes at PNI. It is worth every penny, and both my dog and I enjoy the feedback, company and camaraderie. Come watch a few classes and draw your own conclusion.
"Thanks [removed member name]! Hank is a pleasure. Thanks for sharing him with us!"
The instructors are great, I feel comfortable asking questions after class and thoroughly enjoy my dog now! As a pitbull-type looking dog, it is important that I set an example for myself and the whole breed! Pup 'n Iron is making my dog into a real ambassador and I would recommend them to anyone! Well, anyone serious about training, as you will be training your own dog, and it takes work! Unfortunately, there is no magic wand for them to waive... you will be fixing your own dog! However, with the tools provided, it is a
"Thanks so much {member name removed}! Both you and Jesse were so much fun to have in class and we are so glad you are both doing well."
"We pride ourselves in working with dogs that owners view as their family members. Unfortunately this puts us in the position of having to deliver news to owners that sometimes they'd rather not hear, but we will always be open and honest for the dog's benefit. This particular customer, (who is using a fictitious name, by the way, although we know exactly who she is) was resistant to all our training suggestions and was very rude and belittling to all of our instructors. For the life of me I could never understand why she ever chose to train at our facility because we are known (and very well respected) in the area for offering ONLY positive, dog friendly, science based training. Anyone who participates in our programming knows that we will absolutely not allow training collars and tools that inflict pain on the dog. We simply will not allow it and we make no exceptions! This particular owner insisted on using a prong collar on her dog and became angry when she was asked repeatedly to remove it. Her dog was not progressing well because she had poor timing and rather than reward her dog AFTER compliance, she presented the food BEFORE as a bribe - even though we repeatedly tried our best to assist her. She ignored us and had her own agenda. She also continually challenged all of our training suggestions in front of the other class members, making them very uncomfortable as well. We had several of them mention their discomfort when she and her dog were in class. We try our best to help all dogs and their owners be successful. It is unfortunate this customer had a less than pleasant experience, but it's just impossible to please some people. Her dog was not successful and she was also disgruntled that her other dog did not pass the temperament test to be admitted to our daycare. For someone who was so dissatisfied with our training program, for the life of me I cannot understand why she continued to attend not only our classes and daycare for over 4 months! But all that being said, [member name removed], we do wish you the best and hope that Sadie is well. We want success for all dogs we've had the opportunity to work with!"
"Dear [member name removed], even though it has been years since Duke attended our daycare, we are shocked to see this review as when we discussed Duke's experience at daycare you left saying, and I quote, "Take care, thank you for your work with Duke. He is a better Dukers because of Pup n' iron." And then I just happen to find this review where you display a completely different attitude. The daycare environment is a very delicate one and not all dogs are well suited for it. That doesn't make them "bad" dogs, just means they might do better in a smaller environment with only one or two dogs. As far as the doorbell goes, we haven't had an audible doorbell for years, switching to one that flashes well over 5 years ago. As for your other assessment of "owners waiting outside," we do this so as not to upset all the other dogs. We try to keep the environment as calm as possible. We trust our system and it works. Again, so sorry to read this as we thought the parting was amicable. We wanted the best for Duke and the daycare environment just wasn't it. I know it is common for people to "shoot the messenger" when given news like this but I hope now that time has passed you have realized it was all for the best. We wish Duke well!"
