Prestige Deck & Fence

I found Prestige right here on Angieslist and sent them a message to set up an appointment to come out and give us a quote. They responded promptly and sent a rep to come and take a look at our very unfortunate backyard. It is so steep back there, it's unusuable. We weren't sure anyone would even want to do the job of building a deck back there, but he seemed pretty unphased. So we figured it would cost a fortune and to our surprise, our quote we got via email was really reasonable, especially with our crazy backyard. I was grateful! Once contracted to do the job, they actually started on the deck building a day early and worked in over 100 degree weather for about 5 days. Yup, they even finished earlier than we expected too. I was impressed. Everything went really smoothly, passed inspection from the City of Fredericksburg and we're all good to go. Now, we have a lovely deck to enjoy our lovely view. Finally, we can use our outdoor space! Thanks, Prestige! We would hire them again or recommend them to anyone who wants a deck built in the area. Reliable company. We recently used Prestige Deck & Fence to install a new vinyl fence and arbor in our back yard. We obtained three bids and found that Prestige not only had the best price, but the best process. Instead of waiting until installation to call Miss Utility, they called ahead of giving us an estimate so that we knew their proposal was feasible and weren’t left with any unwanted surprises during the installation. They also helped us assemble the approval package for our HOA. The team that came out to our house was great. They worked quickly, but carefully. As well, they cleaned up after themselves and wouldn’t leave the job site until we were completely satisfied with our beautiful new maintenance-free fence, which was manufactured right here in Fredericksburg. Two of our neighbors have since contacted Prestige to replace their old fences too. We highly recommend this local company.

Our real estate agent recommended Prestige - we were negotiating with the builder, and at one point the builder hinted they might be willing to build a deck instead of reducing price, so we asked Prestige for an estimate. They sent someone out, returned with an estimate. Builder backed away from that... but it still didn't mean we didn't need a deck. We also needed to have a fenced in area attached to the house so we could let our dogs out to do their thing. When we called to talk more about the deck, and to ask for an estimate on the fence, they were a little edgy about doing the whole design discussion remotely, but I was in NJ, couldn't get down to VA until we closed on the house, and needed that fence in as soon as possible after closing so we could move our dogs down. So, we did a couple of scheduled calls, where we swapped photos of the property and back of the house, and designs, and they decided they were OK working remotely, particularly since the fencing wasn't terribly fancy or a huge area, and the deck we wanted was simple. We scheduled the fence work to begin day after closing, and the deck to begin later in the month. As we approached closing, we decided we'd like to find a way to not completely cover the walk out basement sliding glass door, nor a large window. Another call, where Prestige suggested just rotating the deck so that the long edge went away from the house, which kept the window and sliding glass door open. Really minor changes to costs as the stairs were now a bit more complex. We asked them about extending the fenced yard area, and the designer came back with photos of why that would be hugely difficult - the fenced area was already pushing the limits of fencing on an incline. Nice. Good explanation - not just "no" but here's what is likely to go wrong, and here's what you're likely to be unhappy about. Really, you pay companies like this not just for their labor, but for their knowledge. They gave good advice. As usual, something glitched on closing so it had to slide one day, and Prestige was fine with that. They showed up really early the day after the ACTUAL closing and after introducing me to everyone on the crew, jumped straight into work. Shortly after they started, they discovered that the propane tank had been moved slightly since they'd done pictures, and was now in the way of where the design was going to go. That also meant that the planned location of the gate would be on a steep incline, not an ideal thing. We talked a bit about how to change the design to have the same linear feet, adjusting a bit on the other end of the house and moving the gate. The crew talked with the office, and we were once again in action. The change did require them to do a little fabrication on a gate post since it was now opening a different direction, but that went smoothly. That fence was not an easy task- the yard slopes STEEPLY downhill, but they managed to get the fence inches from the ground everywhere anyway, in one case they did a little creative landscaping work, digging here to put the dirt there, where there was no way to make the fence work otherwise. In other words - they delivered on the PURPOSE of the fence, to keep the dogs in, and not just on the design of X feet by X feet. They were able to start the deck earlier than expected. Again, they arrived to start very early, and again made sure I'd met everyone on the crew. They worked over the course of a week, and did a nice job of tidying up each afternoon before they left. A few things about the deck were new to me - like the design of the solar lights - and they gave me great explanations of how they worked, why these particular lights were better than some others, same with a few questions I had about the railing. When they were done, they cleaned up the yard really well, spread grass seed and straw over all the disturbed areas. Very nice. That day I realized that a neighbor had their deck started the same day as ours... but they were still just framed in, we were complete. Overall a great experience. Whenever I talked with people at the office, from receptionist to the owner, they were pleasant and friendly. Both crews were really nice guys - always said hello when I came out, always ready to answer any questions. And, they worked hard. All the work got done exactly on the schedule they'd given me, and ahead of what I'd expected. We did get another bid and it was so wildly off base I spent some time talking with them, and basically they really hadn't been listening well. Prestige always listened, always asked questions, always explained. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat. I told the owner I'd be happy to be a reference for them. It was clear to me that the owner and everyone else values the company's reputation. That's who you want doing work.

We just completed the renovation of our existing screened porch and deck with all new, top of the line Azek decking, aluminum and vinyl materials, and used the Screen Tight screening system. We absolutely love it! Prestige Deck and Fence is a professional company who deliver quality work from the custom design estimate to build or installation in a timely fashion. This was our second major renovation project with Alex and his crew and we will continue to use his company for all our home improvements. To be honest, we don't even get multiple bids, we just call Prestige Deck & Fence. My favorite room in our home is now outside on my porch! Highly recommend!

Prestige Deck and Fence just build an awesome deck for me. From the design to the installation the service was top shelf all the way. Alex was very patient with me as he responded to my numerous questions. The crew were very nice, responsive and left the job site clean every day. I would definitely hire them again and would highly recommend them to anybody that needed their service.

First, let me say I was thoroughly impressed with all aspects of this project, from the estimate all the way to the install.
Let me start from the beginning. We needed to get a deck installed on our newly built home. I contacted multiple companies to come to the house and give me an estimate/design for the deck. Jeff came out and won me over. He was the only one who drew up the design with his computer program on the spot, allowing me to visually see what he was talking about. This was very important to me because then I could tweak the design to be exactly what I wanted. Jeff's design was by far the best idea I had seen. He suggested things I didn't think of (diagonal floor pattern, bump out on one side, round the edges). These three things makes the deck look absolutely beautiful.
Secondly, Alex (the owner) made the transaction seamless. He did all the hard work and kept me informed the whole way. He submitted to my HOA for approval, got all the permits, sent out the utility company to mark public utilities, and scheduled the inspector to come out during the install. I had to do NOTHING. Alex was also very competitive with his price (another plus)!!
Lastly, Brandon and Jason, the 2 man crew that came to install the deck were awesome!! Every day, they showed up early in the morning and worked right through until quitting time. Seriously, they never sat idle, even during lunch! I have a 3 year old son, who was very interested in them and wanted to be around them a lot. They made sure to be patient with him and to use appropriate language the whole time. They even answered all of his questions, no matter how ridiculous... such as if they have ever seen a dinosaur before. When they left, not only did they clean up after themselves, but they even put grass seed and hay down on the areas where they had been walking around a lot. Also, you could tell that they had pride in their work as they should because they are true professionals at their craft!
Overall, The deck is better than I ever imagined. The quality of material and workmanship is stunning. I even overheard the inspector asked where they got their wood from because it was and quot;top qualityand quot;. I just can't say enough about how happy I am that I chose this company. I would recommend them to anyone who will listen. Thanks for the awesome deck, guys!

They were extremely fast. Customer service was excellent and it was a great quality of workmanship.

Prestige Deck and Fence provided a quote for an all wood plus individual options to upgrade to Azek flooring; vinyl railings, and/or board wrap based on my budget. Jeff came out, took pictures, provided samples of Azek flooring, and provided info on the process and the company. The build started January 14, 2014. The guys showed up every day on time and worked throughout the day. We experienced some of the coldest temps this year and they worked in the bitter cold temps of 20 degree weather to get the deck installed on time. They left the work area clean and debris free. The only days they didn’t work was when it snowed. Alex has been great answering any questions that I had before and during the process. The final product is beautiful and I can’t wait to use it. I would definitely use Prestige Deck and Fence again.

In response to the company.......Jeff told us ALL utilities would be marked....private and public. I should have recorded him, because he conveniently did not recollect our conversation. Do NOT trust this company!!!!!!!!!!





We relocated from another state and needed fencing for our dogs. Jeff arrived at our house for an estimate where I explained we were new to the area and had underground utilities and septic system. I wanted to make sure no damage was done. I asked Jeff what I needed to do to ensure no damage. He advised me that I had to do nothing, that they would make all necessary calls and marking of utilities. Well, once the digging started they did $2300.00 in damage to our septic system. They refused any responsibility. Alex, the owner was rude and stated they would not pay for the damages. They did not make the proper notifications as promised...then denied ever saying that they would. If there was a grade worse than F they would get it

Jeff came out (in pouring rain) in late June to take measurments, photos, and to offer options to replace 10 year old wooden railings and level up the landing of the stairs for the deck. Prestige then sent estimate to perform work two different ways. We chose the higher priced option because it replaced all the wood except 4x4 supports and existing Trex decking. There will be no future need to paint or stain.
Proposal indicated work would begin around August 8. A few days prior Alex called to ask if they could begin work a bit earlier. Workers arrived on schedule and took out old wood railing and righted the landing and begain installation of new railings. Work continued for the next two days.
Ryan and Tony took great care to ensure that the new railings were installed precisely. They even were courteous enough to place cardboard under the engine of their truck parked in our driveway. The third day a third worker joined the team (didn't get his name).
All in all, we were very satisfied with the work and would recommend this firm.

The materials were delivered approximately 3 days prior to the start of work. The workmen arrived promptly and all work was completed within 2 days. The company obtained all the necessary permits.

Submitted a request for estimate online and received a call from Alex (the owner) within an hour. Quickly scheduled an estimate for later in the week. Jeff arrived on time and quickly measured the perimeter of our lot and discussed options with us. Received our detailed quote a couple of days later. Company worked with us on a start date and deposit. Installers arrived on scheduled day and were finished in 3 days (vs normal 2 due to rain). We are very happy with the quality and look of fence. We will consider Prestige Deck and Fence for our deck project in the future.

Prestige was very professional and pleasant to work with. I built a new home, and wanted to have a back yard fence installed for pet containment shortly after I closed. My closing date was end of September, and Prestige (Jeff Gorham) was kind enough to meet me at the home site for and estimate early in August 2012, well before I was actual homeowner or lived at the residence. Just knowing that I needed HOA approval for the fence style, and due to timing, I wanted to plan ahead where possible, and they made it work. Having installed an aluminum fence at my previous home, I first got estimate and planned for this style; but, my HOA would not permit, and Prestige was flexible enough to work up new estimate and change materials once I got word from HOA. They changed order, got white vinyl fencing instead, and were still able to do install same week as originally planned. The installers were prompt on arrival, professional, courteous, and Alex George + Jeff Gorham were great to work with. The material mixup was my error, and they worked with me as needed. I would definitely recommend Prestige to my neighbors and others, and will call them again for future projects (ie - basement refinishing in future).

To start I used Prestige Deck and Fence back in March of 2011 to build 3 retaining walls as well as widen my fence gate. They did an outstanding job from start to finish as you will see below.
That being said, when I decided to replace my deck flooring and put a cieling under mydeck in April 2012, they were the first and only company I called as I was totally satisified with the previous job they performed for me. Again they provided a fast and always courteous service in providing the estimate and assisting with the financing. Additionally they really helped me out with the HOA documents allowing me to get HOA approval in 1 week. The guys showed up on the work site and completed the work ahead of schedule and ensured that everything was cleaned up to prefection.
I would highly reccomend Prestige Deck and Fence as they have continually done an outstanding job for both of my projects. I plan to use them again without hesitation when I am ready to replace my fence in a couple of years

When I called to get the estimate, Jeff said he could fix it so it won't have any more problems. I sent a down payment and form to the company and they sent the crew there. Next time it rained, it leaked again. I said I was going to hold the check until they fixed it again. They came out again and said they fixed it. They didn't and it still leaked. This happened a third time and I had to fly out from Texas to fix this problem. I called the owner so that the basement was available for my tenants. They STILL didnt fix it. They just went in the basement and put glue all around even though they needed to do it outside. I told him he needs to start all over again and he refused. My tenants got angry, their kids got hurt, and this was due to the company leaving nails on the ground.

I asked for my money back, they never called me, and they requested me to pay them again. So he put me in a lean and I got a letter from the court. I called and hired a lawyer so that I wouldn't have to fly back there. Then the company dropped the charge and 2 months later to said he was suing me again!

Our court date is October 31st.

I had to hire someone and pay $2000 because they didn't fix it.

Requested a quote for a pool fence and a small outside staircase. They were very prompt and professional, however their quotes were much higher than other competitors. We have known other people who have used them and were quite happy with the results. However, the pricing was simply not in line with other contractors. I don't mind paying more for a superior product, but they were going to charge 50% more than other builders.

Monday The demolition came out on and removed everything in the kitchen. Tuesday The floor man came out and installed the new vinyl flooring. The electrician came and installed new outlets and wiring for a new dishwasher.Wednesday The installer came and started installing the new cabinets. The base cabinets were installed.Thursday The plumber came and installed the diswasher and sinkFriday The wall cabinets were installed and clean up completed.

The workers were very pleasant and courteous. I would definitely use their services again.
