They installed a new water system in December of 2014 and it did not work. They came out on 5 different occasions to try and fix the problem, which was in my contract, but they could not make the water clear. In March they stated that if they came out any additional times going forward that there will be extra charges. I do not believe I should pay extra if it was not working from the beginning. My system is still not working. I have asked for a refund for my system and they declined.
. The installation was done in Dec 3, 2014, the first call to Crystal Clear water treatment was 12/22/2014 they have found still hard the water 3 grains hard found lose connection. Second time 12/31/2014 still 3 +grains hard the technical override the system to clean softer once a week. In Jan 2015 the same again still the water hard. Third visit on 2/23/2014 they came without me knowing about it I wasn't there to verify if the issue was fix . Last 3/17/2015 the water still hard no change they continue replacement parts. I have contact the main office of Rain Soft they tell me that couldn't help me with the system that I need to call them back.
"There are multiple inaccuracies with [Member's name removed] claims. [Member's name removed] is correct in saying there was an issue on 12-22-14. The water tested 3 GPG Hard + it should have tested 0-1 GPG Hard. Troubleshooting this problem took 2 additional visits. Part of the problem was an obstruction in the drain line, likely due to customers pressure gauge malfunctioning. This was not a malfunction of the equipment or a service error. We cleared the obstruction + even replaced the gauge which is unrelated to the water treatment, system for free. A Service call on 2/10/15 confirmed everything was working. The service call on 3/3 also tested properly. [Member's name removed] insists on our coming out every two to four weeks even though three is no issue. The customer has been informed that there will be a charge if there is not issue but the call will be free if there is a real problem."
After completing the renovations on the rental house, my contractor noticed the system was not working at all, and contacted Crystal Clear Water to again request that the tanks be fully serviced. This time they refused to come out unless I paid the $150 service charge up front. When they finally did come out, they were late, rude, and unprofessional. Trash and debris were left in the yard and they tried harassing my contractor to pay the service fee. When they realized he was not going to pay them, they left in a huff, stating there was an "emergency" and had to leave the timer on to shut off the system when the flush was completed. Unfortunately, the timer was faulty and never shut the running water off, which ended up flooding my yard for over 6 hours. Luckily I have very kind neighbors who heard the water rushing in my yard and had to short my well wires in order to totally shut off the water. When CCW was contacted about the flooding, again they were rude and took no responsibility for the damage. Instead the lady who answers the phone told me my charge was going to be $375 for everything they "completed." I was in total shock. Of course, come to find out, the lady who answers the phones is the wife of the owner/manager and the owner/manager was the one who left the faulty timer on and caused the flood - so neither of them wanted to take responsibility. Instead they prefer to prey on paying customers who have no other choice but to use their service since CCW is who I bought the system from. I have fully paid for the system, and yet they continue to treat me like I am a delinquent customer. After further complaints from myself and my contractor, the owner/manager came out and installed a new timer for no charge and acted like he was doing me a favor. In any case, I reported CCW to the Better Business Bureau for their predatory and unprofessional actions, which is where I found out they've had over 8 complaints in 2 years (much more than any other similar company in the area). Once the owner/manager realized I was reporting them to the BBB, I received a bill for $600 instead of the $375 they quoted over the phone. And then told the Better Business Bureau they would be kind enough to reduce it to $300 to help close the complaint. Apparently I have also been put on what they called a "red flag list" so that I cannot request any further service calls (as if I would want them on my property ever again). Unfortunately this behavior is their usual manner of business as you will find all negative complaints on any review website once you start searching around. They are the worst business to ever deal with and I can only recommend that you run fast and far away from them.
I will be switching to Pristine Water Treatment who will service other businesses water filtration systems, thankfully. Good riddance Crystal Clear Water!!!!
We purchased these systems from them back in 2003 and have been very satisfied with both the products and Crystal Clear's service these last 9 years. Couple of things:
They will call when they've scheduled another home in your area around the time for your annual service call. If you go ahead and have them come out when they're in the area, they give you a 10-20% break on the cost of the service fee.
Two of our tanks needed new motors after we'd had them for about 8 years. The lifetime warranty covers the "tanks and valves." The electrical parts are only warranted for 5 years, and they give you a pro-rated cost thereafter. I didn't read the entire warranty when we purchased the units and was surprised when we had to pay for the service call and the pro-rated parts. The new motors had to be replaced within about a month, which they did at no charge, and they've been working fine since.
