We had used CBS Enterprises, LLC for a major home renovation several years prior to this work in 2011 and had been relatively pleased with the work.  Between the time we used them and 2011 the owner had relocated to California but was commuting back and forth to keep his business going here in the area.  When we met with him to negotiate a contract and discuss the project we told him point blank that we expected HIM to be present and involved with the work. He assured us that he would be.   After we signed the contract we never saw him again!  Instead two people that work for him completed all the work and as a result the work quality suffered.  We felt that we were paying money for his expertise not his workers.  We had many problems:  putting in the new front door required several visits from his employees as well as the people we bought the door from.  It was hung crooked among other issues. Another example:  white paint was dripped onto our brand new shades in the living room from installation of the crown molding and subsequent painting of the molding.  This, we feel, was due to insufficient supervision by the owner.  In addition, we were charged over $300.00 for replacement of two door strips that had cracked and split from previous work he had done.  We feel that was ridiculous given they were only a little over 2 years old and must have cracked and split from shoddy work in the first place. We expressed all our concerns in a letter to the owner and received a pat response of "We want to thank you for expressing your concerns to us and will take this in consideration. Your prompt payment is appricated. "(sp)
We had recommended them to close friends for a home renovation.  They also hired them again (after the owner and moved across the country) and had a similar experience!  He was there to negotiate the contract and then they never saw him again during the work and were not pleased with the work.

From the beginning we had problems with the owner who continued to add costs to the final estimate.  For example, he gave an initial estimate telling us it would include everything, but when it came time to finish he added basic items like the sink stating he didn't know we wanted a sink in the bathroom??
In the end the tile work and floor base were done so poorly that we are going to have to rip out all the tile redo it.  The cracks, which were present from the beginning grow and grow and we have never heard back from CBS.  When we finalized our payment, we were assured that he would return to redo the work if the cracks were not repairabel.  We have never heard form him since.  Please don't make the mistake we did- we even had references who, when they heard our problems, admitted they had had problems as well.

I have seen the owner's response and will be happy to provide the documentation of the work performed and to add pictures of the poor work done.
