overall fine. their staff is great with dogs
the available hours are good
I like that the facility is air conditioned
the price is not really reasonable, and never seems to turn out exactly as stated. playtime or time to run should be built in
why is an expensive bath "required"? I have not seen this mandatory charge done anywhere else. That should be at the owners discretion, depending on whether the dog needs a bath.
the cancellation fee if not cancelled within 48 hours is 1- more than the daily fee and 2- stricter than even hotels which are usually 24 hours
not entirely reasonable when plans can change unexpectedly.
Bottom line is that my dog was safe and comfortable here, that's the most important thing
however the fees seem a lttle greedy and that lends me to go elsewhere, especially for longer stays and get a dog-sitter for short stays
"Dear Ms. [Member Name Removed], In response to your review we are confused by your comments. We do not allow pets in contact with each other during boarding so we do not believe your cat obtained worms at our facility. Each cat is housed in it's own condo with it's own litter pan. The cats condo and litter pan is cleaned twice a day morning and evening so had we noticed anything out of the norm you would have been notified. As far as our facility being dirty we make every effort to keep the facility clean. We have an open door policy that anyone can visit and tour at anytime during our reception hours. If the cattery appeared to be unclean perhaps your visit was during the time we were in the process of cleaning. We also encourage clients who have any issue with their pet's stay to notify us immediately. Your visit was over a year ago and we have no record of you contacting us to discuss your concerns or completing our post boarding survey. We welcome our clients feedback and take comments seriously. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss. Thank You, Lori Hayes Owner/General Manager."
I found the staff to be conscientious, attentive, knowledgeable and caring. The kennel areas were clean with little or no odor. The kennel manager explained all solid waste is picked up immediately, and the kennels are cleaned and dried TWICE a day with a pet/environmentally friendly cleaner. I found the kenneling area to be clean and tidy. The kenneling has a combination of indoor and outdoor runs, or just indoor. The staff seems to go out of their way to make the home away from home environment as comfortable as possible for the pet. If a kenneling area seems too stressful for an particular pet, they will move the animal to a quieter area.
I do not have a cat, but was shown the cat area as well. It is far enough removed from the dog area to provide a quiet area for them with a large bay window.
PLEASE if you are thinking of boarding your animal, call and request a tour of the facility to see what they have to offer. I think your first indication of the type of care your pet will receive will be the willingness of the staff to give you a guided tour and answer all your questions. I would have NO reservations about boarding my dogs at Calypso Kennels.
I'll never use this kennel again!!
[I just signed up for Angie's List so this was my first opportunity to provide feedback. I tried to reach the owner/manager of the kennels but they never returned my calls]
