Mr. Bowen completed all work in a timely manner.  He was very professional and personable. I haven't had any leaking or other problems with the chimney or either fireplace.  I would certainly call him again if I had any type of problem with my chimney or fireplace. He was forthright and explained the problems to me, and told me the final cost before starting the work.  The cost for the work was very fair.
While Mr. Bowen was here to assess the problem with my fireplace, he fixed the damper on my downstairs wood stove (at no charge), and told me it had just gotten rusty.  (Another person I called to look at it gave me a really high estimate and said it would have to be replaced!)
Mr. Bowen had also previously solved another problem I was having with smoke coming back into the house, due to the two flue openings on the chimney being the same height.  He quickly fixed that problem by raising one of the flue openings an extra 6 inches by installing a flue extension, in March 2015.  Also very fairly priced, and I am happy with the results.

From the time of the estimate all the way to the installation George knew what he was talking about and doing. He gave a fair (competitive) price for the install and did a fantastic timely job that looks great. I recommend anyone in need of chimney services get estimates and talk with other companies first and then talk to George and you will see/hear a HUGE difference (from the way he speaks with you over the phone until the job is done). I called several places for estimates and he was the best and priced similarly to others.

They're very reasonable and they're very cordial. They didn't charge me for it and once you're a customer, they maintain some relationship and come right out as they can. Sometimes the waiting is a little long but if they can do it right away, they will. They're incredibly professional.

The provider was professional and knowledgeable and I felt that he did a good job. I knew I needed a repair and was not surprised when advised that chimney would not pass home inspection with crack. The provider offered me several options to fix it. Also, the handle on my front storm door came apart and the provider fixed it for me! Above and beyond service.

Great. They were professional, on time, and thorough. They inspected the chimney and the cap from the top (I have had chimney sweeps try to do it from inside the house before and the result was a disaster). They even gave us some pointers on our wood burning stove and removed some shipping bolts from the catalytic converter that had been left on by the previous owner.

The main reason we found this company so impressive is that we had obtained an estimate from another company, at which time we had been told that our chimney was unsafe and needed to be relined, at a cost of at least $3,000. Mr. Bowen did not mention that until we did. He explained that the chimney was in great shape, that generally our house was too young for that kind of repair to be necessary and that large companies often operate on commission, so that expensive, unnecessary work such as relining is often recommended. We appreciate his honesty.
He was prompt, friendly and there was no mess from the cleaning.

I found him to be very professional, courteous, and conscientious. He was very knowledgeable about clearances for fire safety and the chimney installation was something he made look easy.
We did have an issue that showed later that involved moisture leaking from a flue connection. My wife was convinced it was installation related, when in the end it was found to be a less than honest firewood merchant that sold us what he claimed was and quot;one year seasoned wood.and quot; With creosote stains on the floor and wall of our new home, George walked into be met by a not so happy wife. With the way he was confronted I wouldn't have blamed him if he would of been less than pleasant. Once again, he was very professional explaining to both of us what the real issue was eventually winning over the lady of the house in the end.

Everything about the experience with Mr. Bowen was professional and positive the quality of the work was excellent. We had a very bad situation with a previous chimney sweep, which caused us to do research on all aspects of the trade Mr Bowen exceeded all of out expectations. He was quiescence and insured. He was professional, courteous and took great pains to explain what he was doing and why and visually showed all work. A couple of things: if you are given a low dollar or coupon price for a chimney cleaning it is likely a come-on to sell you thousands of dollars of unneeded and unnecessary work, an average chimney should cost about -200 dollars for a pro to clean, less is an excuse to tell you that you need a ton of work and it will cost a butt ton of money. The most obvious tactic is for the unscrupulous chimney guy is to say that your chimney is unsafe or condemned etc. the professional body that registers chimney sweeps is something akin to payed avertising, he only thing you do to be a member is pay your dues. In the next entry I will discuss the negative observations of the company we were involved with.

We went through a horrible time to get this palace stove put in and no one knew how to handle it. The place we bought it recommended somebody else but they were booked, so we had somebody else come in but that went poorly. So, Bowen's Chimney Sweep straightened out a really bad situation, he knows his stuff and got it fixed, while some other company we used didn't get everything right. The other company had put on a different cap and he had the original cap and he got that all worked out and then we felt confident after he had it done. The palace stove was installed properly.

We hired Mr. Bowen for an chimney inspection. $75 seemed a fair, standard rate for inspections. He was professional, friendly, and seemed knowledgable to me. We did not require any cleaning or repair after his inspection. It does say on the card that he offers free estimates for service work, so I would have had time to collect other quotes, had work been required. He also advised us about our wood burning stove not being to code, and how we could rectify that. (We did not know that prior, as we had just bought the home, and nothing related to chimney was covered as part of home inspection.)
