I used this company previously (2011) to service my system when it stopped cooling. We noticed them when visiting another local business and decided to call. They were very prompt, and responsive to our call--they came the same day we called. The technician was polite, and got the system working well. I was also told that there was a and quot;leakand quot; in the system, and to find it would be approximately $1000 to $1200 in addition to the gas/freon for my system. We declined that because there was no evidence of a leak, however, he did need to replace the and quot;boxand quot; on the outside of the house. This year (2012), on Thursday, I noticed that one of my units was not cooling very well--we decided not to call on the weekend, because service is expensive on the weekends. I called yesterday and left a message and got a call back. They were prompt with their response and visit to my home: However, this time my experience went south when Jerry quoted me a price of $150. per pound for gas, and $280. for sealant for a and quot;leakand quot;, after he hooks his meter to my unit; I'm told I need about 4lbs of 9lbs but he could not tell me how much was in the system. We have had not problems with the unit throughout this hot spring, and I can't help wondering why we were so cool and comfortable throughout these past hot days, if there is a leak. When I questions the cost, he politely expressed that the cost had gone up about 3 months back and now cost him $1700. I went inside to call my husband to pass on the news, and when I came back out he was on the phone, asking how the customer found him--and quot;Angies Listand quot;. I let him talk to my husband, who expressed his concern about the cost. Jerry proceeded to explain that the gas for my system was discontinued, and the new stuff is more expensive. He could discount up to $125 but that was it. My husband suggested that he could find a cheaper service, Jerry then told my husband to do his research, and he had other customers to get to (with attitude). At this point, I told him and quot;no, we won't be doing this with you todayand quot; and ended the call with my husband. He seemed to be annoyed at our questions about the cost: He unhooked his meter, and continued to tell me why the prices were so high, and that he could guarantee that his competitors were going to add an additional and quot;adjustmentand quot; cost if I were to go to them. My husband called back before he left to tell me that he found a company (M and M Quality Service) that would service the unit for less. After this guy left my house, I noticed that my upstairs unit was not cooling like it was before he came. I made the mistake of not having the checkbook in my hand, and had to go back inside to write a check for him. DON'T LEAVE THEM UNATTENDED! stay with them and observe what they do. Do contact at least three other service company's before going with this one. Do know the type of gas you need for your system. Don't second guess your system--investigate.
7/3/2012 --Mand M Quality Service just left the total charge for his visit was $296 vs. $600. This is a 50% savings. The service fee was waived, because he actually perform the work. Showed my husband where a leak would be if there was one, ( there wasn't and no need for sealant!) and showed him how much gas was in the system, and how much he put in (4lbs). My husband showed him the receipt that All Air wrote-- what a great discrepancy! Mand M was done in minutes!
