- Consulted with us regarding any specific requests

- Crew was friendly, efficient, neat, cleaned-up after themselves each day (good with our dog!)

- Steven Box (Advanced Painting owner) provided the Angie's List discount and senior discount -- price was already very reasonable.

- I provided my own paint (managed to make use of Benjamin Moore 40% discount -- but Advanced Painting also offered to make use of his construction discount if we needed more paint

The entire effort went extremely well. I plan to make use of them for interior painting during the winter months. I highly recommend.

Staining a fence sounds easy, but this application was done with spray and brush for the nooks and crannies.  The prep work is extensive in ensuring that the fence is properly cleaned, taped off and that none of the surrounding area is affected.  AP took great care in power washing with a strong solution to clean the fence.  Applying such a dark color uniformly is also a challenge so that it all looks even.
The project came out great.  There were some challenges with the weather, but AP always called so we knew when to expect them.  The painters were on time, professional and courteous.
Will recommend and use them again in the future.

They came on time and did a nice job of fixing many difficult holes in hard to reach areas.
There were many problems but it looks like nothing ever happened to the drywall.
Great Job!

It was very easy to communicate with Steve from Advanced Painting (both email and telephone).  We scheduled a date for the job  and his 2 man crew arrived early in the morning and started to work.  Work began outside, 1st with the deck repairs and then the power washing of the house.  It would take another day for the garage sheet rock work and to paint the deck.  Again, early arrival and work began.  Clean up after both days work... (nothing left behind)  A check by Steve at the end of the job...Very professional.  A very nice job and a fair price.

Mr. Box was on time and his crew was clean and professional.
They worked on sections they could paint and put back by the end of the day.
This was great for me as we were living in the home. They cleaned all the work
area at the end of the day. When Steven and his crew was done. He walked the
whole job with me. I found one touchup area and he addressed immediately.

The Advanced Painting team did an excellent job painting our house exterior. They completed a power wash of all surfaces, removed all 14 storm window sets, reglazed window exteriors, scraped siding and trim, replaced damaged siding and trim, applied one coat of oil-base primer and one coat of latex eggshell paint. The  team cleaned up work areas thoroughly after each step, took extra care to mask light fixtures and hardware, and gently protected plants adjacent to the house.
We chose a different color palette for the new paint scheme on our older (1935) home, and the work involved considerable detail work. All was done extremely carefully, and we are very pleased with the results.

Steve was quite responsive in scheduling the work and the price he gave me was very reasonable compared to two other bids.  The drywall and wallpaper removal crew was very knowledgeable and professional as well as the paint crew.  They were on time and finished well within expectations.  No change orders!  I intend to use them again.

Advanced Painting did an outstanding job! Mr. Box returned my call within 30 minutes, as he was on another job. He gave us a reasonable estimate, and accepted the coupons listed. They first power washed our home, then returned to prep for the painting. They were very flexible, as it rained for over a week! They did an excellent job of prepping for the painting. They covered everything, from our bushes to the concrete. They were very processional! They were polite, hard working, and punctual. We highly recommend Mr. Box and Advanced Painting.

I chose Advanced Painting because they were one of two providers that accepts the Angie's List 10% off coupon. So I called the owner (Steve) on Monday and he was able to come over on the same week that Thursday for an estimate. He said the job would be 600 dollars which is the all day labor rate because the job would take the majority of the day. I agreed but said Id like a few small areas done as well if I had to pay the all day rate. I then presented him with my Angies list coupon and he agreed to take 10 percent off but he didnt seem very thrilled with it. He mentioned that he'd like to make a thousand dollars a day (which I didnt understand with a 600 dollar full day labor rate).  He told me he'd be able to do it the following Friday which I was pleased with (the following week after the estimate). I called him the next week on Thursday night and asked what kind of payment he'd like (cash or check) he said hed prefer cash if available and then I asked what I could do to make the job move along easier. He said that I could remove outlet covers and light swith covers if I didnt mind. I doidnt mind and I did remove them. He told me they'd be there between 8:45 am and 9am the following morning. The next day at 9:25 I called him to ask where the workers were and he told me that they would be there in an hour (1 and a half hours later then the time he had said the day before) and of course I got angry and we got short with each other on the phone. He mentioned that the price he was giving me was practically charity and that he was only making 150 dollars profit on the day. This infuriated me because he simply charged me for a full days rate with a coupon (His estimate straight forward) and his workers werent going to be there until almost lunch time. I felt as if I were provided no favors or so-called charity and was offended by this. The workers showed up at exactly 1038 and they got straight to work. They were proffesional and polite and worked very well. I was pleased overall with their work. They fixed 3 nail pops in my drywall and a 2 inch long by 1/8th inch wide crack. I was not pleased however that they were satisfied by one coat of paint after the owner Steve had given me a quote for two coats on everything. So I asked them to please put up another coat and they did after only a slight hesitation. They did work quickly and the overall product looks fantastic. I would recommend the quality of their work but the customer service was lacking.

Scheduling was tricky and I went out of my way to make sure I was ready but the job before mine took longer than expected.  I had a vacation planned so they started and completed painintg while I was out of town.  That would've been ok if the right color was applied.  Steve was good about coming back and putting the right color on.  The things I found unacceptable was the amount of dust and paint left afterwards - really excessive dust!  In particular, the bathroom had a great deal of white splatter all over the sink and toilet.  This was not removed to my satisfaction and Steve seemed more concerned with getting out of my house than cleaning up when I asked him to fix it.  Overall, the paint looks good but I really wish the job had been neater since I had a lot of clean up to do afterwards.

I called Steve about a week before I wanted the interior of the house my husband and I bought painted. The Job wasn't issue free, but the issues I had were dealt with promptly and to my satisfaction (I am highly OCD) On top of me being picky I chose semi-gloss paint which is a PAIN for painters, it SHOWS EVERYTHING. Steve's crew did an excellent job. Will, Todd and I can't remember the other guy's name were excellent.
The Job was a large one, top to bottom the house is 3500 finished square feet and I had 14 different colors.
Overall 3 suggestions: 1) Hire Steve 2) Don't use Semigloss 3) let them buy the paint for you so you don't have to deal with home depot trips.
I will be using Steve again in a few months to repair some siding and pressure wash.

The work was outstanding, as noted above.
I will request their services again in the future.  I trust them to work at home with only my wife home...I've no concerns for her safety or security around him or his crew.
Steve inspected all of his work.  He even did a walk through with us to ensure we were happy.

If you were to have the company paint a building with a clean, undamaged surface, you would likely be satisfied with the work.  My dissatisfaction involves the pressure washing and surface preparation.  I accept part of the blame, as I should have made a detailed list of everything that needed to to sanded/prepped, rather than just mention them to Mr. Box at the first meeting.  For example, the bottom of the large barn doors were very ragged where the siding met a metal rim.  They should have been sanded, but weren't, and they look awful, not to mention that they will flake off even more unless I go do that myself and repaint.  On the other hand, the part they repaired with wood filer looks very nice.      The pressure washing didn't get off all the grime, and some areas didn't look like they'd been washed at all.  I believe part of this was because he didn't want to do damage with the pressure washer (which I commend), but they should at least have been wiped down.  For example, behind one stall door, after pressure washing, the door and wall were spotted thickly with large fly specks.  When I called to say I didn't think the surface was ready to be painted the next day, he said the dirt must "be in the wood", as it didn't come off with the pressure washing.  Knowing full well that flys don't drill into the wood, I went out with a scrub brush and elbow grease and got them off.  It was too hot and humid to keep going.       When the crew came in the morning, I pointed out further areas which were too dirty, having to actually scrub them in front of him to show that the dirt came off.  He argued that I wasn't paying him to scrub my barn.  At that point I said we'd need to reschedule and I would do it because the surface was obviously not ready.  Probably because the crew was already here, he agreed to clean the areas I pointed out.  Because I had to leave, I couldn't stay to be see how well they did at cleaning.  Also, I ended up offering him another $100 for the "scrubbing", which I feel should have been part of the job.  If he had never done a barn before, I could see how he might not know that the worst areas would need to be scrubbed by hand, but he'd said he'd done many of them.  Even worse was the fact that he would have painted over all that dirt had I not raised the issue.     While Mr. Box did the pressure washing, two others did the actual painting.  I was happy to see that, although they smoked, they did not leave their cigarette butts around.  Unfortunately, they removed some of the barn door hardware when they painted (I had not requested this) and forgot to put it back on, leaving it on top of a fence post.  I just happened to see it there; if the horses have knocked the items off, the items would soon have been lost in the dirt.          While the barn looks fresh, if I had to do it again, I would pay the extra couple hundred dollars I was quoted elsewhere to have it rolled.  The wood looks very dry and I think the thicker coverage that would have resulted with rolling would have been a better choice.

Very impressed from the estimate. Price was a little higher than the rest of the estimates but I felt comfortable when I first shook Steven's hand. He was very polite, looked professional and I knew from then he was the one that I wanted to come paint my home. I felt like he gave me his honest opinion. Estimate stated that that job would take 3 days. First day on the job, he was early, still very polite and respectful, came in took all light covers/outlet plates off the walls, plasticed everything and layed drop cloth. Started on one room at a time while being very clean and neat. When a room was finished he told me to look around and keep and eye on it to see if i seen anything that needed to be touched up or fixed and to make sure that the painting met my satisfaction. Next morning, once again early.  Answered any questions I had for him as well as fixed the few spots that I seen that needed a little touch up. Steven and crew worked at a steady pace, still staying very clean along with the out come of beautiful work. The job was completed in 3 days as the proposal promised. Through out the job Steven and the crew stayed very respectful of my home and my family. As the job came to an end Steven did a walk through my home with me and made sure I was happy and did not have any unanswered questions. I am very happy and I will definatly hire him again for any future work.

When I interviewed Steven he left me with a feeling of professionalism and dedication to his craft. His estimate was on par with others I had received but he was open to further negotiation. He usually uses Sherwin Williams products exclusively so that left me with ordering and picking up the paint from a Benjamin Moore dealer myself.  I insist on BM paint for all my needs so Steven arranged for me to receive special pricing from them for the job.  Steven and his crew, one other painter and one helper, took 4 complete days to finish the job which was spot on his estimate.  He applied 2 coats of paint on all the walls and one coat on all trim as agreed. After each days painting or section was completed he recommended that I look over the quality of the work to make sure nothing was missed or that the paint was not covering completely.  When I did see areas that needed further attention, Steven immediately responded to my concerns and fixed the issue without question.  When I noticed that the color on the living room and foyer walls were not covering after 2 coats he insisted on giving them a 3rd coat which was OK with me even though I had to purchase additional paint.  Didn't matter, the important thing is that he made sure I was satisfied with the work.  They arrived on time, or early, everyday and didn't leave until I was completely satisfied with their work.  Steve and his crew were extremely friendly and personable which puts you at ease when you open your home up to strangers for so long.  A great choice of contractors thanks to Angies List!
