He came to our home and provided an estimate of $695.00 for the entire job. He indicated that that price might change because he had to check with his supplier and get back with us. That quote went up to $935 and we agreed to proceed.
Andrew came into our home and was a slob working. He laid a few paper towels on the floor in the area where he was working which didn't do much to protect our brand new hardwood floors. We asked him to use something else and to be more careful, which in our opinion you shouldn't have to tell a grown man/professional. Andrew got about 1/2 way through the job and said he was out of material and that he wasn't sure how it happened but he underbid his job. He looked like he was going to be sick when he was telling us this.
We explained that we wanted to get the entire house done, and that we didn't want him to eat the cost and asked for an updated quote (vs. telling him too bad that he was bound to honor his own $935 quote). He pressed us to offer a 'fair price' and our response was "we don't know, you should know what your material and labor etc cost, you tell us". After some haggling and learning that he was attempting to get his margin + on the unfinished work, we agreed on $1600 for the final cost. We had 2 of our previous homes fully tinted and knew that this was ballpark.
He came back, finished the job, got paid and left.
A few weeks later we noticed that many of the windows showed bubbles, pealing. Called Andrew to come back. He performed a few repairs and went on his way. Problem continued, Andrew came back to have a look and asked for a few days to discuss with his vendor because it looked as though the film failed.
Weeks later we received a letter from Andrew stating that 'after an in depth discussion with the vendor they determined collectively that the results were acceptable".
We called the film vendor only to find out that they had not spoken to Andrew. We sent the vendor pictures of the problems we were seeing and THEY say it's an installation problem and they are at this time attempting to help us to get reimbursed.
We feel that Andrew Brown is unprofessional, dishonest and would NEVER hire this guy again.
