Landline Phone Service

Locked into high rate service package, needs have changed but Verizon will not allow me to cancel land line or alter number of TVs under service contract. Separate charge for Cable TV service plus you have to rent their DVR to access the service is ridiculous.

They said we have a verbal agreement and I cannot cancel till April 2014.............. beware OF DOING business with this company. You can't change or get out for a long time. They are inflexible and the phone exchange with the help desk is not helpful at all.

We've been using them for a decade. The call quality is good. The access in the area is pretty decent. Their prices are completely outrageous. The basic plan is $125 and additional phones are $30 apiece. They are always pretty professional on the phone when we call but it is a very long wait. We get put on hold for half an hour.

Absolutely the worst customer service. You wait forever before you finally get to somebody and they put you through thousands of menus.  Their bills are not very clear. They will arbitrarily start charging for something you never ordered.

We have been with Verizon for about 15 years.  I would give them A's.  We have one phone and an iPad on our plan.  I will continue to use Verizon.

They are the pits.  We get a basic dial tone and basic DSL, and we hardly make long distance calls.  They are hard to get hold of, they are hard to resolve problems with, I have had billing errors, and I can’t sign in online.  They are just a mess and they don’t seem to care.  The price is middle of the road; it isn't the best but it isn't the worst.  The quality is terrible.  In the last month we've had three multi-day outages.  I want to get away as soon as I can, but I haven't heard about anyone that is better.

Everytime it rained, I had issues with my landline. They have an automated phone system when you call in for customer service.  When I eventually got an agent, who was polite, I was told somebody would be out next week.  The time from they gave me was 7am-8pm.  I was told I would get a text message, automated phone call, or email, to let me know a representative would be at my home.  I have done this over 20 times in the last few months.  Sometimes a person comes out before your scheduled date. This being said, I have received automated messages telling me that my issue has been fixed.  They never tell me what the problem was, and clearly the problem is not fixed.  They never call to ask if it is working.  Then, it's a repetitive cycle of calling, rescheduling, and receiving automated messages that the issue has been fixed.  The issue had still not been fixed.  Sometimes my phone works, but not always.  Finally, a technician came into the house.  Yesterday, another technician came to my home.  He said the problem has been fixed and my phone line came back on.  Finally, he explained that the issue was the cable between the company and the switch box in my neighborhood. I felt like they kept saying it was fixed when it wasn't, and just never really told me where the problem was stemming from so I could get it fixed.  I am interested into another service provider, but I have learned Verizon is really the only provider in my area.  While the individuals themselves were all very nice, I really wish they had better follow-up and would handle these issues better.

Verizon's service quality seems good. I picked them, because they are reputed to have the best coverage and service. I have almost no dropped calls or dead service areas with Verizon. The clarity of sound on the phone isn't great, but I'm not sure if that's the service or the phone. The volume on the phone is often too loud, and the volume controller doesn't seem to affect it, just the ring volume. I hate being locked into a 2 year contract and avoided it for a long time. The price seems too high for what I'm getting, but I think that's true wiht most carriers. I used to use Net10 which was much more affordable for limited minutes, but many of my calls would drop or dial, charge me, and fail to connect. I've stayed away from data use to keep costs down. I got a 15% discount through my employer that helps keep costs down a little.

They seem more interested in pressuring you into new plans and new phones, rather than customer satisfaction. They also seem to try to pressure you into buying things like cases and other accessories for your phone. I also feel that they are very expensive. We only use them because they are the better than the other companies.

On a day to day basis its fine. I never really need anything special. Their service is one thing, but their customer service is another. The phone service is an A, but the customer service when I actually need it I would say they're a D.

The experience has been fun and I haven t had any billing problems or anything like that. I m satisfied with the price. I would love it if my cell phone was cheaper but it probably won t be. The service has been fine and I ve had no problems.

It is crunch time - my contract is up and I could move to another wireless service. Looking at ATT because of the I-phone and I like the rollover minutes concept. On the other hand, Verizon has the best service in the area and I also like the look of the new Blackberry Storm phone. So, in the end will probably stay with Verizon Wireless.

Service is good. Price seems to go up - I think the family plan went up for the 2nd line and therefore we did not get a second line.

Landline Phone Service
I tried to call Verizon to cancel - the representative on the phone told me it was canceled; however, I started receiving confirmation calls to confirm appointment. I called them several times and could not speak to a human being. On one occasion, I called and was on hold for 20 minutes, so I chose the callback option. I then received a call back stating that the number was disconnected. I called once again and confirmed that the appointment was canceled and asked them to stop calling me. Approximately 10 days later, I came home to find that my yard was dug up because the installation crew had laid the cable and connected the box. Now I have a strip of dead grass in my yard when I didn t want the service in the first place and I had no knowledge of the installation. One day shortly after all of this, I noticed that I did not have phone service; I was without phone service for a full day. I called my current service provider, and they confirmed that my number had been ported to Verizon and that I would have to call Verizon to have my information faxed back to them to fix the problem. When I checked my voicemail I had 20 voice mails that I didn't know I had because the message signal was no longer operating on my phone. I had no idea that I had been missing calls or voice messages from people, which had been happening for two weeks. This was a very frustrating experience.
