We had a horrible experience with Jim Rydell of Rydell Homes. I would strongly urge you to find another contractor. Quite simply, Jim does not have the skills necessary to be a good general contractor. Jim’s lack of planning and inability to supervise his workers led to numerous delays. This happened so often that what he told us would be a 3-4 week job lasted over 4 months and was never completed to our satisfaction. We were disappointed at every step of the way; Jim didn’t supervise his subs causing poor quality work and unnecessary delays. Jim didn’t check shipments to assure he had the correct materials on time, so on several occasions we had to wait for the correct parts to arrive or accept an inferior option. Jim repeatedly ignored and/or didn’t plan for simple requirements; clearance for the toilet, height of the vanity mirror, placement of plumbing lines, installation of shower glass, just to name a few. All these problems caused delays and/or an inferior finished product. The worst part is that we paid Jim a lot of money to complete this job for us and not only was the experience dreadful, the finished product was not of high quality. When the bathroom was finally “complete” there were some relatively small things that needed to be fixed, but Jim asked for the final payment. Unfortunately, I trusted Jim’s word and “1 year guarantee” and gave him the final check. Of course, these things are still unresolved and Jim is now nowhere to be found. Please do not hire this man.
