Family owner and operated since 1959, Richards Heating & Air Conditioning Co. has been designing, installing and servicing residential air conditioning and heating systems in the Washington Metropolitan area. We install ā€œtotal comfort conditioningā€ systems to meet the unique configurations of individual homes, recommending systems that fit each customerā€™s needs. At Richards, we are proud of our work and are dedicated to maintaining a reputation in the industry and the community as reliable experts. Richards is a fully licensed and insured mechanical, gas fitting, and electrical contractor. We qualify in the installation and service of all aspects of heating & air conditioning systems. Yes, we feel they did a comprehensive job replacing the Carrier heating unit and all of the ancillary parts that go with it. The lead service person was very respectful and informative on what the plan was, estimated how long it would take and thorough in reviewing changes when the installation was finished. Richards completed the job within 24 hours of identifying the system needed replacement. 22 years ago Richards installed the previous system.

Wonderful job by Jorge, the HVAC technician! He was courteous, professional and prompt. We much appreciated him wearing shoe protection in our home. The Washington DC metro area is expecting a very long and frigid Artic Blast in the coming week, and we wanted the furnace to be in top condition during that time. Jorge also made several suggestions on how best to care for our Carrier equipment in the future.

Richards Heating and Air installed our heat pump/furnace 30+ years ago, they did a beautiful job on the installation, and the unit (carrier) performed perfectly. Our uninsulated house was hard to heat and cool, but Richards provided great service and very reasonable replacement pieces as needed. We had our house fully insulated and the new unit, installed a year and a half ago seems to coast while doing its work. Unfortunately the Carrier Infinity System smart thermostat signaled a potential problem with the blower motor, a very expensive fix if it goes bad. I contacted Richards via email sunday night, they were able to send a tech Monday afternoon. Jorge (a sharp young man) diagnosed the blower fault signal Monday, was back with the replacement Tuesday afternoon, and installed it. Unreal... major part, installed under warranty, no muss, no fuss. This story reflects every one of the few service calls we have made for our Richards Carrier systems over the past 30 years. Great response, service, staff, and family...(my commercial message) "Richards Heating and Air, why go any where else?"

My heatpump stopped working on a Sunday and Richards was able to send up an experienced and well equipped technician, Ever, to diagnose the problem and fix it if possible. He found out what was wrong quickly and got things back running. He didn't try to sell me a new HVAC system, but did point out that the coolant being used will be obsolete after January 2025, so plan on replacing it if there is a coolant leak. Ever came out quickly, did what was necessary and didn't try to upsell, so I would not hesitate to call on Richards Heating and Cooling for HVAC repair.

This company is scrupulous and honest, almost to a fault. They have never in the 26 years that Iā€™ve been a customer done work unnecessarily. To the contrary, they constantly offer advice and services in lieu of selling me expensive equipment. Luis came to our home last week after a service visit to perform a warranty repair. He was punctual, exceptionally thorough, careful, polite, friendly and a pleasure to have in our home. He is exactly as weā€™ve found every technician from Richards to be. If you need HVAC work in NOVA, stop looking. Pick up the phone now and call Richards Heating and Air. You can thank me later.

Richards' service is always excellent. Recently, we called them in when our furnace stopped working and they were kind enough to fit us into their schedule on short turnaround. The technician was prompt, knowledgeable, super professional, and a strong communicator. He quickly diagnosed and addressed the problem, took time to thoughtfully inspect the system, took the necessary action to get the heat functioning again, was detail oriented, and let us know what he was doing every step of the way. He was mindful of our budget and charged us only what was necessary, but made recommendations for further action required. We are grateful to have had his and Richards' assistance with this repair, and will continue to call Richards back for our heating and AC needs.

1400 % Mark-Up? Richards replaced a 45+5MFD capacitor, available on Amazon for $14. Look it up. Excluding installation, Richards charged $182 . They also added 1 lb of refrigerant for $230, which, including installation should have cost $50. They charged $230. I DEFY RICHARD`S TO JUSTIFY A 1400% MARK UP. Be a smart consumer. Shop around. 2

My furnace is old but in pretty good shape. I was worried about being told to buy a new system. The technician from Richard's (Maynor) was EXCELLENT !!!! He discovered that the problem was some leaves sucked into the air intake pipe preventing the motor from coming on. He unblocked the air intake and everything works PERFECTLY !! Cost was reasonable. He was honest, knowledgeable, and thorough. I will DEFINITELY use this company again!!

Truly exceptional service from sales to installation. Wayne Shenk provided no pressure sales service. He provided ideas and advice on how best to proceed in meeting our needs. Tom Smith, the owner, and Mickey, the installation manager came to our home to review the installation requirements for a new Carrier Infinity system. Our utility room is quite small and required special venting and configuration. The installation team of Ariel and Jimmy perform the best workmanship ever experienced in our home. They were professional, clean and courteous. Both treated our home like it was their own. Our special thanks to Richards Heating and Air Conditioning!

We have always used Richard's for our heating and air conditioning needs. Their service is reliable and dependable. Their reps are courteous and polite. Our rep, Maynor, introduced himself and immediately got to work. He provided a detailed report on what he found needed to be done and then immediately set about his work. He left us a job invoice that detailed the service performed. There was minimal interruption to our day. We will continue to use Richards for all of our heating and air conditioning needs.

Ever Castro was the technician who came out and worked on finding the problem and making sure the furnace worked. He was very professional and answered all my questions and did a good job. The furnace is getting older so may need to be replaced but for now it is working. Have a contract with this company for over 10 years.

We noticed no heat when we returned from day trip on Sunday, Dec 6. Called Richards number and paged tech. Good news, tech arrived in 1 hour. Bad news the old furnace motor unit and controller were bad. We decided on a new unit since this was a bit older. Richards gave us a quote Monday and did the install Tuesday. The installers were very professional and courteous. They kept on masks and were mindful of the distancing requirements. The new unit was up within 4 hours and the old one gone with a very neat and tidy cleanup. I wanted a a more modern thermostat and they satisfied that request too. We rely upon Richards for any HVAC needs and we recommend them to our neighbors and friends.
