From the first time we had Mole Construction Inc quote on our kitchen project, they were professional, courteous, accommodating and really could not have been better to work with. It was very much a team process and everyone on their team was super helpful. The quality of the work their tradesmen did was just excellent. And we appreciate having a project coordinator, Manuel who came almost every day to make sure the project moved along. He kept us up to speed every step of the way. We absolutely love our new kitchen and can't imagine anyone doing a better job!

We hired MOLE construction to prepare a house for the market. From painting to plumbing repairs, electric to power wash, they took complete control of the project and delivered the house ready for the market. Many things came up and Manuel with Mole was able to manage the circumstances with easy and always with a solutions-driven altitude.

Mole's work is high quality and reasonably priced. When pre-made construction materials are not available for installation, Mole will custom design and make these materials.

Manuel at Mole Construction is an upstanding professional. I always felt like he was telling me the truth, giving his honest opinion, listening to what I was saying, respecting my decisions, working at a reasonable pace, and charging a reasonable amount for his work. When you have extensive, unexpected repairs that are needed to your home, it's an invaluable relief to work with someone who is honest and reliable. We did multiple phases of work with him, and his prices were mid-range amongst the quotes that we received. I really appreciated that he was willing to provide detailed pricing and organize the scope of work the way we needed to be able to compare quotes and make decisions about phasing. Most contractors don't have the attention span for paperwork, but Manuel got us what we needed, when we needed it, and in the format we needed. He and his team worked on a wide variety of repairs to our home, including ceramic tile, rough carpentry, drywalling, exterior groundwork, pouring concrete, replacing light fixtures, sealing ducts, replacing siding, etc. They handled it all, and I only had to ask for an adjustment or improvement in a few small instances -- and each time, they fixed the issue right away, just as we asked. Manuel and his team will be my go-to contractor in the future.

I had a great experience working with Mole Construction. They pricing was great compared to other quotes and they were very open and honest about the amount of work and actually fixing the problem instead of putting a band aid on it like other vendors who quotes were more expensive. I am very happy with the new roof. All problems we had before the roof was replaced have been resolved.

Manuel and his crew were excellent. He dealt with getting permits and inspections, and ensured the quality of his work was up to our expectations. He was responsive to any concerns or issues we had about quality and worked out a reasonable solution to either redo things or come up with a fix that would maintain the time-frame and cost of our project. The prices at Mole are not the cheapest, but it is well worth the additional cost for the quality and honest work. Highly recommended.

We are really happy with the work that Mole Construction performed for us this year. Before we hired Mole, we saw work that they had done for others in our neighborhood (kitchen, bathroom, and basement renovation) and we were impressed with the quality and attractiveness. The company gave us a very competitive quote for our project, which was adding a half bath in a tight spot on the first floor of our house. The company's owner, Manuel, is pleasant, knowledgeable, and practical, and worked with us to come up with ways to keep cost down while accomplishing high-quality, permitted work. Manuel and his team worked efficiently to get the project done on the promised schedule, and kept our house clean and tidy throughout even though the work required them to access multiple areas. The final product is functional and attractive, and it has really made a difference in our enjoyment of our home. We also hired Mole to repair the roof on our garage. While there were a couple of communication hiccups, this work was done promptly as well and the roof seems to be solid. The only thing we did not love about working with this company was that there were a couple of instances (mostly when we were talking about possible additional projects) where response times were slow. But we would definitely hire Mole again and we recommend them fully.

Mole Construction was great to work with from the beginning. The description of work does not capture everything that Mole Construction did - in short, I relied on them to help rebuild a house in desperate needs of repair. I found Manuel to be extremely easy to work with from the time we met to assess the property; as the work progressed he became a trusted partner, providing sound advice which allowed me to prioritize the jobs that I needed to take on. Though the scope of work increased during the job, this was not a surprise given the age and condition of the property - and when the scope changed, it was at my request to repair obvious issues that needed to be addressed immediately. I believe the estimates were fair and the quality of the work was extremely good. I highly recommend Mole Construction - I have yet to find a type of work that they do not do well.

I had to quickly find a contractor to get a bedroom with adjacent bathroom remodeled. I only had a month to get this done, and reached out to several contractors in April. Manuel was very responsive and professional from first time we met. And he was able to work within my time frame. Within a week from first contact he and the crew started the demolition. The building work started shortly thereafter. I chose to provide all materials (except for construction material), and I found this model worked very well. They did an excellent job, always responsive to our needs. Manuel was available to communicate about progress and any questions throughout the process, actually he was at the sight either working or checking in at least once a day often multiple times or stayed day-long. Overall, a very good experience for a good price, in good quality, and within a record time frame. We will hire Manuel and his team again! PS: I really wanted to have a European style wall-hung toilet (Geberit) in my bathroom, and from other projects I know it is difficult to find installers for that. Manuel and crew did it, and it looks and works fantastic!!

Manuel and his team did a great job! We had a lot of contractors come out to give us ideas and quotes. One thing we really wanted was to put in an entry closet but we could not figure out a way to make it work with the layout of our house. None of the other contractors could come up with a solution that we liked that wasn't going to require a major remodel and lot of money. Manuel saw the perfect solution and now we have a beautiful entry closet that fits the style of our house perfectly. Everyone says they would never have known it wasn't part of the original construction of the house. This is just one example of when his expert eye gave us an end result we love. He also nailed it when designing the layout for our rustic wooden kitchen shelves and corner floating shelves in the den. We ran into some trouble with our kitchen backsplash when the design we chose didn't work out the way we hoped (our fault completely, not his). Manuel was very patient while we tried out multiple different options to fix it. Manuel is prompt, courteous, and easy to work with. He really listens to what his customers want and finds ways to make it come to life. He also did a few small things around the house for us as they came up, which was awesome. Additional bonus points: We have a puppy who can be a little annoying and he was great with her, AND we had a baby while working with him and not only did he push to get as much as possible done before her arrival, he even gave us a baby gift! We have already email Manuel to have him do more projects for us so it's safe to say we're very happy with his service!

We were very satisfied and pleased with the bathroom renovation done by Mole Construction. The project involved removing a tub and creating a shower, running new plumbing and electrical to accommodate a new shower system and hot water heater, installing new tile throughout, changing out the vanity, installing large medicine cabinets as well as a pocket door. Manuel was very professional and we appreciated his patience and willingness to meet with us more than once before starting the job to answer questions and concerns we had about the project. During the renovation he was always receptive to questions we had or to any changes we wanted to make. Unfortunately after the project was completed we discovered that we had a water leak from the new pipes that had been installed. Manuel immediately addressed the problem and took responsibility. He ensured that all aspects of the repair were completed in a timely fashion and that we were satisfied with the drywall patches and painting. We are enjoying our new bathroom and recommend Mole Construction to anyone thinking about a home renovation project.

Manuel was able to accomplish everything on my long list in a very short time, for a reasonable price, and with quality results. In sharp contrast to my other extremely frustrating contractor, Manuel was honest, prompt, communicative, polite and a genuine pleasure to work with. His team-member Jose breathed new life into my old house with his paint and drywall miracles. I especially appreciated that they took care to leave my house as clean as possible at the end of each day. If I weren't moving to another state, I would hire Mole Construction to do more work on my house in a heartbeat.

I am thrilled with the final result. The most critical things for me when working with a contractor are honesty, dedication to finishing the task, taking responsibility, and responsiveness to the clients wishes. Mole Construction and Manuel Parada was superior in all these categories. He listened carefully to my plans, provided a very detailed quote and gave me a very competitive bid. But, things happen, my building is over 100 years old, and discoveries are made. This is always a good test of the character of a person; how to they deal with the unexpected. Whether it was a surprise in the building or a foible of the client, Manuel dealt with in in an adult way. He always provided good advice on the best way to accomplish a wide variety of details. Change orders prices were always in line with the amount of effort needed. This may sound like a small issue, but I have dealt with a number of contractors and the change orders are frequently answered with high add-on costs and new delays. Manuel is a problem solver and has high personal standards. To summarize, I highly recommend Mole Construction. They are one of the top contractors I have ever used. Manuel Parada is honest, knowledgeable, skilled and a pleasure to work with.

We hired Mole Construction, Inc. after reading all of the positive reviews on Angie's List and interviewing them (along with three other contractors). Mole won our bid because they gave us the best estimate for the scope of work they proposed. Construction on our new room began in January. Although the crew didn't work everyday in the cold weather, they would work for a solid 8-12 hours on a Saturday (they framed the entire 232 square foot addition in one day) to get the project done. Enduring a blizzard, cold temperatures and less-than ideal weather, Manuel and his team worked diligently through the winter months. Manuel was great about communicating with me about the best times to work on the room and pricing for materials. He and everyone in his crew were extremely polite, respectful and did everything they could to make sure we were happy with the job. The crew always left the job site clean and tidy and were sure not to disturb us during the construction. Additionally, Manuel was aware that we had a budget for the project and ensured that he checked with us and presented as many options as possible, before going ahead and purchasing materials. The room was completed in the amount of time promised and we couldn't be happier with the result. if you're looking for a solid, honest company for your next home improvement project, I highly recommend Mole Construction. We'll be going back to them with all future projects!

After a bad experience with prior contractors, we are delighted to have found Mole Construction. The quality of their works speaks for itself -- all the work is very well done, down to the little finishing touches. The prices were very reasonable, they stuck to the budget and discussed any changes or additional costs with us in advance. Most importantly, Manuel and his crew are fantastic -- very friendly, hardworking, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. We really appreciated that Manuel brought his own suggestions, not only for the main problem of water in the basement wall, but also ideas on little changes throughout the scope of work that aided in a fantastic end project.  It is extremely nice to find a contractor you can trust and can rely on for suggestions and solutions. We look forward to working with Mole for any future house projects!

Overall, we are very happy with the ultimate results of the rennovation, however it took a good deal of effort to get here. Manuel's prices are good and he is a great guy to work with, but the project required more oversight than I had anticipated. Remodeling a house is a challenging and emotionally charged process - even more so while you live in it - and the additional oversight required added to the stress. Ultimately, Manuel delivered a product that my wife and I love, but - particularly with all the money in DC home renovations right now - there are a few things that he and his team could do to step up their game.
PROs:
HONESTY AND INTEGRITY: The general contractor for Mole Construction, Manuel Parada, is a kind and extremely honest businessman. For example, when his team scratched our wood floor, he told me immediately, and had the floor refinished before the end of the project. He is a very likeable person who, after having him in our house for nearly 6 months, I would consider a friend.  
PATIENCE: Manuel is also extremely patient, and was always professional.  He worked with my wife and I (who were sometimes difficult) to make sure that we ultimately got a product we were happy with.
QUALITY: His team was efficient during the early phases of the renovation, and the quality of his drywall and tilework were both excellent.  In one example, our basement floor has a fairly considerable slope to it that we didn't realized when bidding the job.  Manuel made sure to level the floor before laying the til, even though that was not included in the original scope of work.
PRICING: Manuel was extremely fair in his pricing for change orders. Simple changes were often included in the base-price of the contract; additional costs for more extensive changes were completely reasonable.
RESPONSIVENESS: Even after the end of the job, Manuel and his team have been very responsive to the inevitable minor issues and repairs that crop up.
CONS:
TIMELINESS: The job was scheduled to take about 4 months, but ended up taking 6 months to complete.  At the beginning of the project, I requested a schedule of when decisions or supplies were needed, and never received it. As I was doing the procurement for the bulk of the finishing materials I take responsibility for some of this delay, but we stayed in punch-list limbo for a lot longer than I had anticipated.
QUALITY OF FINISH: Manuel's attention to detail was not up to my (or my wife's) admittedly high standards. A soffit in our kitchen that was to have cabinets mounted to them was out of square; his painters left many bare spots and got paint on some of our belongings;  our stove and dishwasher had to be reinstalled several times before they fit correctly.  A number of issues had to be pointed out multiple times before they were resolved, Tracking our comments in a diary would have been helpful.  PLEASE NOTE: Manuel and his team did ultimately correct most if not all of these issues, and worked with us to make sure that we were happy with the final product.
ELECTRICIAN: I was not a fan. Very few of the cover plates on our lightswitches fit properly. They were often slanted or bowed, and some stuck over 1/4" away from the wall on one corner or another.  Correcting these issues  took several iterations before we found the results passable.  In one instance, the electrician simply tried to tighten the plate and ended up cracking the underlying drywall. In another, somebody tried to heat the plate to make it flexible, but ended up melting it instead and installed it anyway.
BOTTOM LINE:
I would hire Mole Construction again, particularly for a bathroom remodel where high-quality tilework is important.  To improve the experiences of future clients, I would recommend that he keep a diary to better track of homeowner comments 

We were referred to Mole Construction by friends; Mole Construction exceeded our expectations in every way. The quality of the work was fantastic, but what we also very much appreciated was that the guys were honest, hard-working, pleasant, and kind. Manuel stuck closely to the costs outlined in the proposal except where we asked him to made additions or changes. He pointed out where we needed to make safety improvements and explained what repairs were needed to meet code requirements. But even more than those technical skills, Manuel brought thoughtful design ideas and suggestions that far improved our own ideas for what to do but also showed that he had quickly grasped our own taste and style and thought of options that would work within our budget. He made clever suggestions for relocating appliances so that we could maximize space and for working around design challenges. On a couple of occasions where things went wrong (locked out of house due to an old lock, etc.), Manuel went out of his way to help us. It's rare to find such a great combination of someone who has such talent, incredible work ethic, friendliness, honesty and integrity. We look forward to many years of hiring Mole Construction for ongoing projects. The house looks amazing and we're thrilled.
