When I initially contacted Juan in April, he promptly came to provide an estimate. The price was very reasonable and I agreed to accept his proposal and set an agreed-upon date. Due to road construction in my neighborhood which would negatively impact parking, I had to delay the job and Juan agreed to the new date and said it was even better for him. Subsequently, he failed to respond to my numerous phone and text messages to confirm logistics for the job, such as parking permits, etc. By the agreed-upon date, we heard nothing from him and he never showed up to do the job. His MIA behavior is a mystery.

The stump (maybe 3 inches in diameter and not much higher) and the tree (maybe 5-6 inches in diameter) were small just difficult for me to remove by hand. Both were volunteer plants that started several years ago. I would just use a hand saw to reduce the height of the tree or remove limbs and would saw the stump close to the ground, but wanted to be sure all the roots were taken out so they would not grow back. I had used Bonilla in the past and was always pleased with the work they did and the price. I was quoted a price over the phone after he reviewed photos I emailed to him. He made it sound like it would be a lot of work. The small stump was against the fence and he asked if the fence could be removed because they would need to use a machine to remove it. I said the fence could not be removed. I didn't see why the large machine needed to be used for such a small growth. He said they would look at it when they arrived but may not be able to remove the stump. They had used a machine for a previous job to remove a larger stump and extensive root system on the other side of my house, that took quite a lot longer to remove. I had also hired them some years ago to prune bushes at the front of my house. Both times I felt the prices were fair. When they arrived and checked out the job they had to know then that this would not take long and would not require the use of a machine. It did not take them very long at all to complete the job, certainly did not need 3 men, and I felt they should have charged a lower price. When they completed the job I told the foreman (who apparently is the brother of the owner I had spoken with on the phone) they were charging a lot for the short amount of time it took them to remove both. I received no offer to reduce the price or to call his brother and ask if they could. I tipped them anyway but will not use them again.

Fantastic crew! They cleaned up all the loose branches. There were a couple of dead falls that left divots in the yard and they filled those in, put in topsoil and a little bit of lawn seed. Very affordable, can’t say enough about Juan & his crew! I have used them a couple of times before.

This is the second time we've had Juan Bonilla and his crew do tree work in our yard, and each time we've been very pleased with the service, and the price. This time we needed to remove a venerable, old 60- foot maple from our front yard that was no longer healthy. There were power lines to avoid, and the house itself. Juan and his guys did a great job. He said he would be at the house at 8 a.m., and at 7:55 he showed up with five guys and they got to work. They worked quickly and cleaned up the yard - and the street in front of the house - as they went. They ground up the stump and carried 8-9 wheelbarrows of good hardwood mulch around to our back yard where we'll put it to good use. They were done by 3 p.m., and the work site was raked and blown clean, leaving a rounded pile of sawdust where the tree once stood. Terrific work at a very fair price.

I've used Juan before and am very impressed with the care that he and his crew take in my very heavily landscaped yard. In this particular case my neighbor and I shared a large (over 100') white oak tree that had been in decline. Because the tree was located on the property line between our respective houses, in a space approximately 16' wide, Juan recommended using a crane. (He works with Merrifield Garden Center crane services). The crew arrived at 7:30 AM and immediately began preparing the front yard for the crane. Juan had to cut the wood up in my driveway because a neighbor had not moved his car, so Juan put down lots of exterior grade plywood so my concrete driveway wood not be damaged. The crew completed the job and cleaned up by 2:30 PM!! Other than some slight depressions in the front yard where the crane had been, you would never know that a tree had been cut down. I am very glad that Juan suggested using a crane, rather than the traditional roping, because another tree service that my neighbor used the previous day roped some branches which hit my roof and gutter. I can't recommend Juan and his crew highly enough.

The team was extremely punctual, hardworking, and did a great job with the trees. Everything went smoothly and was completed for the agreed-upon price, on time. The price was the best one we received after getting several estimates, and when we compared costs with neighbors/friends who had similar work done, we were stunned at how much less expensive Juan was. We plan to use them again to do some tree maintenance work and possible remove another large tree or two, and would definitely recommend them to others.

They were very efficient; the owner came with 7 people. They worked every minute and were very industrious. The owner is insured for general commercial liability but he is not insured for workman's compensation; which might cause liability issues on my part. So that is a negative. They did a good job and their pricing was competitive. I decided to use him because he had favorable ratings on Angie's List.

Juan did a fantastic job in removing our tree and grinding the stump. He showed up early in the morning and began working right away with his crew. He explained to me why the tree was dying and needed removal and showed me samples of the limbs evidencing interior rot. The crew did a fantastic job cleaning up the woodchips and small branches left over from the work. I will definitely rehire Juan for any future tree needs.

We could not be happier. Juan was extremely responsive. He came out to give us an estimate the day we called and then came back just days later to do the job. He did everything we asked and even nicely spread the mulch from the tree in the garden bed. Better yet, his price was extremely reasonable--nearly half what other tree services was quoting us. We'd use Juan and crew again in the future.

No problems. They know how to rope down a tree in parts without causing damage to other trees or structures. They use good safety practices. Juan listens to his customers and pays attention to detail. He is very easy to work with. His large crew can perform a lot of work in a short time. I am very happy with the results.

This past winter a large limb fell from the Silver Maple in front of our house and hit our home, damaging a few roof shingles, denting the gutter, and cracking a window shutter. Since we had just moved in to the home, and enjoyed the shade and privacy that this mature tree provided, we we decided to wait until warmer weather to see if the tree would survive. Our neighbor warned us that years ago he had helped the previous homeowner fill a hole that squirrels had hollowed in the tree with gravel and that the tree was probably dying. So we waited. After a summer storm another large limb came down, fell on a neighbor's car, and took out power to our entire neighborhood for nine hours. At this point, we decided we needed to remove the tree. Juan was extremely professional and responsive. He came out to give a quote within hours of my call and he was able to complete the work prior to the date we agreed upon. Additionally, the price was very reasonable (better than three other estimates we received) and we are very happy with the work done. We plan to use his services again if the need arises.

I called Juan for an estimate, he was on vacation. The first day he returned he came over to give me an estimate. He didn't leave me a written estimate but made a trip back to leave one on my door and faxed it to me. On the day of the work, the crew showed up early, ready to start work. They removed a cherry tree, and three silver maples of medium and small sizes and ground the stumps. There were two trees from another yard that was on my side of the property, and they removed the hanging limbs back from my property, being very careful to do so in a way that did not disrupt the tree itself, which were in poor shape anyway. I thought one of them would be difficult but they did it with ease and very well. I also asked about two bushes I had and they threw those in too. I All the wood was removed and the areas left clean, with the ground areas left with wood chips from grinding the stump. The work was very skillfully done and care was taken. They did a great job!
