+ -1 moreI paid them 50% of the cost up front. They were trying to cut corners on the job. I asked them to stop the restoration. I asked for my money back. They did not refund my money back and now they are trying to add 6% tax the labor they had performed (which is not legitimate charges per State of Maryland laws). They believe I owe them more money for their commute to perform the job which was also not part of contract agreement. They violated our terms of the contract by NOT performing the steps they said they would for the restoration and DAMAGED the legs and sides of my good parts of gold gilded chairs and sofa and did NOT refund my 50% deposit. They are a horrible business to work with.
Description of Work: I hired them to do some restoration of top parts of my gold gilded furniture. Per the contract, they wrote that they would remove the flaking gold, the old gesso and the bole off of the top part my furniture and prepare and prime the wood, apply new gilding and burnish, seal all gilded areas. They were supposed to also remove the gesso and bole during the process. They only did partial rough sanding without removing the gesso and bole. They then planned to just seal the area of old gesso and bole and add the new gold. I didn't want this done because the new expensive gold wouldn't stick (this was not agreed upon per the contract). They also have damaged the additional good parts of my gold gilded furniture (legs and sides). they asked me to allow them to work in my house because they did not have a place for the furniture in their studio. They filled my home with dust from sanding then asked me for commute time and 6% taxes on labor.
