Brought a snowblower and generator with gummed carburetors and told them the problem. They charged $160 diagnostic fee to come back with the diagnosis of gummed carburetors, and repair quote of $550. I told them that was high. Plus they needed a couple of weeks for the repair. They wouldn't budge. Called Mower Medic who estimated about $250 for the 2 machines. I called them to tell them they're overcharging. They yelled at me and told me to come pick up the machines. Save yourself the trouble, these guys will rip you off.

I took my Dyson vacuum in for repair and they took five weeks to get it done. They were rude ever time I called about it and refused to let me speak with the owner. While I was standing on line waiting to finally pick the vacuum up, the person behind me had the same experience with hers taking one month to repair. They used to be good but now they are the worst.

Great! Work was done quickly, the machine ran well and it was clean with a full tank of gas.

However, directly after we started using our lawn mower again, the engine would stop every 15 minutes of (light) use. We had paid ~$100 for the corroborator / tune-up and got nothing out of it. Now our lawn mower will not even start. VERY disappointed in the job and how much we had to pay for such zero net result.

The blade was dull and now it is sharp.  The work was done quickly and at low cost.  Thanks!

I asked my wife to go get our lamps fixed here because I heard about them on the washington post.
Once lamp the dimmer box was in tatters and being held by an eraser. The other wouldnt hold the bulb in place. I was surprised to hear that this cost $90---but then was informed that they recommended rewiring both lamps. I dont know enough about this to comment.
The lamps are back and they are like brand new!

Painless.... I could NEVER replace those lamps for the cost of the work.   I also cannot lift each lamp with 1 arm because of a prosthetic rotator cuff.  
Dropped off the lamps mid-afternoon 8/6 and picked them up same time 8/7.  
They are beautifully polished and shiny; the wiring is new, as are the sockets, and bulbs.

They had to send the work out as they typically do mowers. They did a good job, and there was a week turnaround. I won't return because it's too far. The price was very good and they were very professional.

I was having a problem with my vacuum cleaner's belt slipping off of the brush head after only a few minutes of vacuuming.  The belt was brand new and fit snugly so I could not figure out why I was continuing to have this issue.  Having to stop every five minutes to open the cleaning head and reset the belt and brush was very frustrating. I researched the problem and found almost nothing.  I then called the manufacturer who recommended a vacuum repair specialist.  After checking reviews and learning that the factory recommended repair shop received terrible reviews, I checked Angie's List. 
I saw that Appliance Fix-It had excellent reviews so I called and asked if they would honor the warranty which was still in effect.  They said they would but they told me that warranty work typically takes several weeks.  I did have to pay the diagnostic fee.  I didn't mind so long as they could identify the problem.  They checked the vacuum over and did not find anything wrong in their checks or when they tested it.  They called me about 36 hours later and told me what they found.  I asked them to test it again for a longer period of time and they still found nothing and had no problem with the belt slipping.  However, they did replace the belt and replaced the vacuum bag at no extra charge to me.
I thought the staff was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable.  They offered me some vacuuming tips that the said may be causing the slippage.  I brought the vacuum home and have had no problems since.  I would definitely use them again.

I have used Appliance Fix-It for about 6 years now. They are reasonably priced, honest, do a good job fixing whatever needs fixing, and most importantly get the job done quickly. When I bring my mower in, they usually get it done a day or two earlier than promised, even in the busy spring season when everyone is starting their mower for the first time in several months. They also do other things like vacuums, but I've never used them for that.

I have not been there in over a year so I don't recall any costs.  I am going back soon for another repair. | |

They got the job done quickly and to my satisfaction.  The lawn mower works well after not being in use for several years.

He told me I should get a new filter and he'd be able to check it. He said he would come back out to check it after I put in the new filter. I never heard anything from him, but the filter was not the problem. I figured someone else might do a better job. He may have forgot, but he never followed up with me.

While I feel the cost was a bit high, the work done was es.xcellent. The mower ran fine and they were very helpful taking the mower out of my car and putting it in when I picked it up. Always courteou

Good work; good service.  Just a tad pricey, IMHO.

Courteous, professional, and timely work done on a vacuum cleaner that had been giving us problems.  It was hard to find a place that fixes Dysons, too.  They did a good job, the work was timely completely, and the vacuum works great now.
