Lazaro was the man we called on to finish someone's else's job. I only wish I had known him first. Lazaro and his helper were patient, understanding, punctual and most important- experienced in what the first guy did wrong and how to finish the job. I am already making plans to hire him again for phase 2 of our project. Lazaro is an honest professional, fairly priced and caring. We had a party to prepare for and Lazaro and his helper stayed past 9 p.m. (over 14 hour day) to make sure the patio was done on time. Thank you, Lazaro. In my book, you are the best and most reliable landscape and hardscape expert around. Don't bother calling anyone else. You're in great hands with Lazaro and his team.

Lazaro was punctual, a hard worker and responsive. I thought it was a little pricey, considering I used a coupon. My issue was communication. Being hard of hearing, it was challenging to work with him because of his broken English. This resulted to an odd discussion on leftover bricks because he took them instead of leaving them behind. I was expected to pay $150 for roughly 100 bricks. However, due to the abnormal brick size I needed, I apparently paid $150 for roughly 40 bricks. He ended up getting very defensive and I wanted nothing more than to end the transaction. I let him keep the leftover bricks and I would not use him again.

Lazaro and his team are the best contractors we've worked with to date - an absolute pleasure to do business with - professional, thoughtful, creative, responsive, and hardworking. Lazaro is great communicator, and we really appreciated that he discussed the project and options with us at the beginning and as needed throughout the process. We also liked that he runs the company as well as performs the work (as opposed to sending out other people who have no real vision of the job). He takes a lot of pride in his work, and it's clear that one of his biggest priorities is to make sure you are completely satisfied with the job. We wanted a natural look for our garden are very happy with the results, the timeline, the ease/professionalism of the contract. We had a great experience with horizon landscaping. Lazaro was very responsive and communication was great throughout the entire process. We reached out to several companies for quotes and Lazaro was quick to respond, friendly and provided us with the lowest quote. The work was completed early and it looks great! We have had neighbors come by to ask for their contact information because they liked the work they did. The work was being done on one of our rental properties in DC (previously our home). We were on extended travel out of the area and he was very willing to communicate via text and email which was very helpful. He proactively sent pictures of product and design options as well as progress of the project once started. We did end up coming in town briefly and were able to meet Lazaro before the project started and he was very nice in person as well. I would highly recommend Lazaro to friends and family and we will definitely use him in the future.

The contractor contacted me promptly after my purchase of a "deal", showed up when advertised and gave me a fair quote. However, I decided I wasn't ready to do all of the work required. He was understanding about that decision, and I would contact them again.

100% Satisfaction

I had to negotiate the final price down considerably, but the work appears to be very good. There is some discoloration on the surfaces for which the cause is uncertain.

This project exceeded our expectations.

I paid $349 for 8 hours of masonry repair. I thought that would be enough time to repair three flagstones. I was told it would be a two day job and require an additional $500. I declined the offer and received a refund from AL for the $349.

Overall, very nice job and finished look. Removal of old grout raised significant amounts of dust that got into just about everything near by. Perhaps use of a water slurry or some form of better dust control during grout removal would cut down on the amount of dust/clean-up.

Lazaro Bernal, owner of Horizon Landscaping Design, is extremely professional. He returned my calls promptly, showed up at my house as scheduled to provide an estimate, and accompanied his crew the day of the actual work to explain the project to them. Mr. Bernal and I had a detailed discussion about the color of mortar I wanted and I was quite satisfied with how well the finished mortar color coordinated with the slate. After his men had finished the job, Mr. Bernal came by my house again to check both the finished sidewalk and the weeding/mulching work. When I asked if one small area of the sidewalk could be made a bit more level, Mr. Bernal had his crew fix it immediately. I also asked if a bit more weeding could be done & more mulch put down and Horizon took care of that as well. (My flower beds really were quite overgrown.) I am very pleased that I hired Horizon Landscaping Design. My sidewalk is now beautiful again. One of my neighbors walked over to my house the day after the job was completed to compliment the work Horizon had done on my sidewalk. I was equally pleased with the cost of the project. I had paid more than twice as much to another masonry firm to do the same job a number of years ago.

Worker arrived early and was diligent with the repair - however, the quality of the pointing was not as we would have hoped.
