1.Our house was not dusty/dirty to the extent it would take a team of 4 professionals three hours to clean. We asked for them to please provide a detailed breakdown of what each person did during those 3 hours. We asked for this, but never received it.
2. Yes, my wife was called and told that it would take more time than the initial estimate. She was only provided another estimate. Unclear communication led to final bill almost double the initial estimate.
3. For the original quote, we would have been ok with the service provided. However, for the price charged, the level of service was not acceptable.
4. Let's just say the customer service provided to my wife left a lot to be desired, and made us feel as if we were victims of a scam.

I am more than disappointed in this review as there is no merit in
it and Yelp should not be used as a platform to abuse companies. We
have a current active database of over 1000 customers who will attest to
not only our quality but also our ethics and fairness.
This
customer contacted The Maids to set up a cleaning in her home. She was
quoted at 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours with a team of 4 at a rate of $152.00 /
hour and billed by the quarter hour. When our team was there and
cleaning the supevisor informed our office that they would need
sufficiently more time to finish the cleaning as the house was very
dusty / dirty. We called the customer and let her know the situation
and that it would take an additional hour. She understood, agreed and
authorized the extra hour. Let me repeat this ... She understood,
agreed and authorized the extra hour!
She then called later
upset about the price and said that she just assumed it would be around
$300.00 but as I told her that 1 3/4 hours is 266.00 and the additional
hour needed that again was authorized by her would be an additional
$152.00 so $266.00 plus $152.00 equals $418.00. She told me that they
did a good job and she was happy with the cleaning except that certain
things and pictures were not put back properly. I told her I would be
happy to send someone back to straighten her home and fix anything she
was unhappy with.
I personally spoke to this customer and I
certainly did not treat her like dirt. I explained to her exactly what
happened and offered to come back and rectify anything they disliked. I
never spoke to the person who actually wrote this review.
Plain
and Simple, this review should be considered libel. They have decided
to take this to Yelp because they "assumed" something and when they
assumed wrong they were upset.
We are an awesome company and provide a great service. Call us and I can prove it to you!

"‘We are very sorry about the issue with (member name removed)'s mirror. When it was reported by (member name removed) we did have someone come to inspect the mirror and also talk to the team, as is our general initial response. The employee who cleaned the mirror was insistent that the she did not cause any scratches on this mirror. We are confident that if she had scratched it, she would have realized it while cleaning and immediately reported it. Our policy has always been that employees are not penalized for any accidental damage. They are, however, penalized for not reporting damage. We will accept responsibility for any damage caused by our negligence, and are insured as such. As a residential cleaning service, our employees always use clean cloths in any home. They are laundered and disinfected in between uses. They are not reused from room to room or in multiple homes. Furthermore, our cleaning system is based on cleaning top to bottom, left to right. None of our employees would clean a floor or other surface and then move up to clean a mirror. Finally, since a glass cleaner is used for cleaning mirrors, that cloth would not be used to clean any fixture or other horizontal surface in the bathroom prior to being used on a mirror. Again, we do apologize to the (member name removed)for their dissatisfaction and would like to offer them a $20 coupon for use on a future visit. We hope that they do accept our offer and allow us the opportunity to build a long term relationship together.’"
The office staff is very responsive also.
My only complaint is that the cleaning ladies do not understand the complexities of my house:
(1) I have ceiling fans that are programmed, and when the maids turn off and on the light switches, they turn off the entire power switch rather than just the light switch. That unprograms the entire fan and overhead light. So when later I go to turn on the lights or the fans, the switch doesn't work, and I have to reprogram the switch. This is true for all 3 bedrooms. I have left signs (in Spanish) and explained things several times, and they don't get it.
(2) They must use dust cloths to dust computers, clock radios, television sets, using pressure which turns off these digital appliances. Routinely the Verizon box has been turned off at the t.v. and we have to re-set it. We have told them not to TOUCH my husband's computer, because every time they would clean it, they would do something to the switches that would cause the computer not to work.
(3) They occasionally leave lights on when they leave. This is not normally a problem, but when we are out of town I always alert the main office staff to that fact so that they are extra careful to turn off the lights when leaving.
(4) They do not understand timer switches or wall switches that control lamps. Whenever they clean, they turn off the lamps so that when the timer switch is supposed to come on, it doesn't, and when you try to turn the lamps on by using the wall switch, the lamps have been turned off.
I use them because they are nice, they go a great job cleaning, and they have never broken anything. It takes a team of four ladies about 45 minutes to clean my house. They are fairly punctual, but sometimes they are later than they are scheduled to arrive so that they are not finished when I return home.
"After reading this report regarding our company, I myself am not only shocked but appalled that this customer or any customer would make such a bold statement regarding the owner’s character. I am the sales Manager at The Maids and have worked for the owners for 10+ years. I am a woman and I will attest that this accusation could not be farther than the truth. There are also 80 women who work for The Maids and they are comfortable in their position and interact with the owner on a daily basis. Not one of them has had any issue. With that being said, we do apologize that this customer felt so threatened that she needed to call the police. We sent someone over to look at the light that was broken in the kitchen. The owner disagreed from the customer in how to address the damage and the customer was not happy and a discussion or argument then ensued. We are unaware of any profanity that was used in the customer’s home by the owner. Our policy is we will replace or reimburse any item broken in a home. As seen in the report prior to this one we are diligent in taking care of a damaged item in the house. We had every intent to take care of the broken light but we also do need to handle things according to our policies. The owner did wait for the police to arrive so he could explain what happened. There might be a police report but there were no charges filed. For anyone reading this, we have a longstanding reputation in this area for not only the quality of our service but also for our customer service in rectifying any situation that arises. We have been in service for almost 17 years and we have customers who have been with us from the beginning. We get referred on the basis of our quality and we hope that if you are looking for a maid service you will not allow this report to pass up on a great experience in home cleaning."
