Sam I Am Your Handyman

Sam, although very busy, made time to come out and look at our ceiling fixture after it blew out and smoke was coming out of it! He diagnosed and fixed the problem pronto. Reasonable price. We had Sam do various projects of the course of a few months, replaced a window in an exterior door, reinforced all my kitchen cabinets that were beginning to fall off the walls, replaced switches, etc. Always extremely professional, polite and extremely competent and knowledgeable. I can't imagine who this guy who wrote the review before me was talking about. Sounds nothing like the Sam we know! Sam has expressed displeasure at wearing a mask (don't we all...they're uncomfortable!) but never did he refuse to wear one. We will ALWAYS call Sam first and wait to get on his schedule. He's usually busy and we have to schedule a couple weeks out. That should tell you something.

I strongly cannot recommend this person.  He had previously done work for me and when I scheduled him the second time, he came out and didn't like that I wanted him to wear a face mask.  He interjected his views and then decided he didn't want to do the work.  Look - politics aside and even putting aside any local ordinances, everyone is entitled to their views but when you're entering someone else's home, you should adhere to their requests during this pandemic.  No different than asking a worker to remove their shoes before entering your house. But to turn around and storm off in a rant?  After I took the time off work to meet him, buy all the supplies for him to perform the work, he just turns around and walks off?  That is completely unprofessional, not to mention childish.  Needless to say, I will not do business with him and strongly do not recommend him to anyone.  I'm happy to give my money to someone else who can act like an adult and a professional.

Sam is a DIYer's dream. My husband and I are first time home owners and are in the homestretch of a significant remodel. He tackled a long list of "finishing touches" that we need done around the house. Sam does beautiful work with great attention to detail - he asks good questions and makes suggestions that I wouldn't normally think of. And he's even willing to explain to you you what he's doing while he does it! Sam has already come to our home on two separate occasions. I plan on calling on him for any issues or fixing we may need around the house in the future. Also - extra bonus points for being professional, on time and a great communicator!

I have used him through Angie’s List before. His name was Sam Axton. It was just him that came out. I think it was a minimum of 2 hours for the same price, he even asked what else he could do for the additional time. I think he was very professional. It impressed me that he asked if I needed anything else done just to fill the time in. I was very impressed with that.

Very friendly, very professional. Always willing to take a look at something else that needs fixing and offer advice or suggestions. 

Excellent. Did a not-easy install of dishwasher. Both getting out and in were tricky because of hardwood floor that was installed since last dishwasher put in. Had to go and get new fitting and pipe to replace old copper pipe. Was insightful, careful, and experienced. Gave me some tips on fixing other things in house myself.

My wife and I bought a house together in fall 2015. When we first moved in we clearned some of the high-priority inspection related deficiencies int he home, but many lower-priority odds-and-ends remained. After about 5 months in the house we had trimmed that list on our own, but needed professional help for some remaining items. Enter Sam. Sam came to us through a recommendation from a former colleague. We contacted him and within two weeks he was on-site performing work.
Sam is extremely knowledgeable, but as or more importantly he's extremely flexible. Our initial to-do list changed significantly for a variety of reasons, but Sam had no issues with that. He showed up and essentially did whatever we asked. All of the work was first rate. Not only that, but the nature of the work was very diverse. Sam did everything from basic repair type work to electrical to plumbing. While Sam was on-site we had another contractor laying a vapor barrier and insulating our crawl space. During that work that crew noticed two small leaks. WIth Sam on-site he fixed both leaks. One by replacing the wax ring on our toilet and the other by climbing into the small crawl space himself and replacing some piping. And finally, Sam creatively fixed our Rubbermaid shed that was discontinued years ago. Without any replacement parts (which are no longer offered) he fixed the door hinge.

It was a very good overall experience using a handyman. Sam worked with me to find a good day for the repairs and was prompt on the day of repair.
Each item be worked on was carefully considered for the best and most economical way to fix the problem.
Sam even sent me an email later with another suggestion for obtaining parts for the entry door.

Sam was great. Very responsive during our initial communications; punctual; friendly; knowledgeable; and taught me a few things so I wouldn't have to call him back!

Sam responded quickly to our request and provided a very reasonable timetable in which to get the work done. His workmanship was outstanding and the cost was in line with what we expected. We'll definitely use him again!

Great experience with Sam. Communication was great. He had some good advice on which type of attic stairs to purchase, which I'm glad I followed. He arrived and got the job done as promised. The work was flawless, the new attic stairs are working like a dream. I'll definitely be calling Sam for some future work.

He is excellent. He was just pleasant, professional and very good at what he did. The price was fine. The quality of the work was excellent.

Great! Sam was very professional and courteous he arrived right on time and completed all the things I needed very nicely he even noticed a broken switch I hadn't and fixed that!! I would highly recommend Sam to anyone looking for a handyman. I will defiantly use him again.

Sam was great -- each to reach on line and by phone, scheduled promptly, was on time,  assessed what needed to be done, reasonable pricing, and most important completed a list of home inspection items in a thoroughly professional and competent way. I will call him again to do handyman work when I move to my new home.

He did an excellent job, arrived promptly, and was very courteous. One big drawback was his minimum charge and the fact that he doesn't take credit cards.
