NOVA Express Movers

I had a very bad experience with this moving company. In early September, we reached out to NOVA Express Movers to get a quote to help us move from a town house in Alexandria to a single family home in Springfield. The Sale’s Person was extremely nice and he followed up multiple times with me to ensure that we will be using their company. On the moving day, the company sent 3 movers with 1 truck. Out of the 3 movers, two were inexperienced. In the process of getting our antique queen-size bed loaded onto the truck, one of the inexperienced movers raised the loading machine without realizing that the edge of the bed was stuck in between the truck and platform. The queen-size bed was significantly damaged. Additionally, the movers also scratched our ceiling, wall, and chipped our staircase for our new house. Immediately after the incident, I contacted the Sales Person and was told that the company’s insurance company will fully resolve the issue. He told us not to worry and all we need to do is to submit a claim. Although my husband and I were very disappointed about the damage (especially the queen bed), we paid the full invoice amount and tipped the movers. Everything was paid in cash. It was a hot day, we felt bad to give the movers any trouble or not to pay them. We understand that incidents do happen and we trusted that the company would properly resolve our claim. Unfortunately we were wrong. Since submitting the claim in September, we have not received any email acknowledgment or phone call from NOVA Express Movers. We followed up multiple times with the Sales Person but were told that he doesn’t handle claims. One month has passed, we have not been able to get any help we needed to move forward with the claim. Strange considering how responsive they were before the move when they were looking for our business….If anything goes wrong during the moving, expect this company to lie about fixing any damages they cause and then stop responding. Please check Yelp and other reviews before you use this company. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Dishonest movers charged me for their 45 minute lunch break. I've been asking to speak with a manager to adjust the cost of my move for two and a half weeks and have been given excuse after excuse on why they haven't called me back yet. This company prides themselves on their amazing customer service when you ask for a quote, but this has been one of the worst moving experiences I've had. Go elsewhere if you want a company that will work with you to resolve any issues.

While the crew servicing my move were well mannered, they were very slow and inexperienced ballooning a move into 7 hours when it really shouldn’t have taken anymore than 4. The cherry on top is they did not secure my standing desk (the only reason I wanted to hire movers) during the move and it fell right out of the truck when we arrived at my new home. They literally opened both doors and out fell my desk, absolutely floored by the lack of securing such a large object. Now it’s totally ruined. So far the team has been very vague on the claim process, specially Anne when I have spoken to her. I am waiting to hear back after submitting my claim and reserve to change my review to at least giving their businesses a professionalism stamp of approval but until then this was a very disappointing service. I plan to tell others to stay clear of this moving company in the meantime. They are just a company with moving trucks that have inexperienced staff that over charge when you could get the same truck with movers for half the price and the same liability.

I had the exact same experience as a recent reviewer, and I’m hoping we both get money from the damages caused by this company back. I used Nova Express to move from a one bedroom into a two bedroom apartment. The move itself from my old place went fine and the movers were pretty quick. However, the building I was moving into had very strict rules about moving - we could only use a certain elevator/hallway for moving. After about an hour or so of moving, one of the movers broke the service elevator rendering it unusable. We told them that they were specifically not allowed to move things up and down the main residential elevator, which they blatantly ignored and did anyway. The apartment complex had to call someone after hours to fix the elevator. Nova Express still refuses to pay the damages. They’ve stopped returning my calls or emails. Reliable and professional are about the last words I would use to describe this company. Don’t be tempted by the low price, it is worth paying a reputable company for peace of mind.

I hired NOVA express movers to relocate us to our townhouse to a single family home. After the move, I noticed they damaged the stair railing and the door leading to the garage. Since May 15th, I’ve been trying to recover the reimbursement I had to pay to my previous landlord for the damage they caused. I understand accidents happened, but I feel they show no integrity for not reimbursing me back for the damage. Keep in mind that their responses were often delayed. My wife emailed them 2 weeks ago and we are still waiting on a response from a suspected meeting they had to rectify our issue. I was totally amazed of a company this big being so shady.

As you can see from the above, I was super impressed. I had never moved before and they made it much less stressful than it could have been. I did almost all of the packing. They took good care of the furniture and anything I hadn’t got to. Give them extra stars for efficiency and attitude.

Courteous, professional, took care on belongings, finished ahead of time

We have moved a lot (local and long-distance) in the past 15 years, and the crew--Lee (driver), Danis, and George--from Nova Express Movers was among the very best: extremely efficient, hard-working, prompt, courteous, and careful. From our first contact we were very pleased with the process of setting up the service, using the Angie's List coupon, and making the appointment (scheduling around several very rainy days, among other things). The driver communicated his whereabouts and likely arrival time, and continued this level of communication with us throughout the process--briefly reviewing the items that were to be transported, any special requirements and requests, and the details of our destination. The truck was exactly the right size for our stuff, and very clean. We were pleased that, after introductions, everyone got right to work loading the truck (and they worked as a cohesive team throughout). Our items did not require special care (no furniture or appliances), but we were confident that everything was carefully handled nonetheless. We requested special assistance unboxing our newly purchased adjustable bedframe and mattress in the space vacated by all of the items that were moved out, and they did so with great speed and efficiency--but still managed to unload everything with equal care, paying attention to how we wanted things organized in storage. Even better, not only did they adhere to the timeframe allocated in the Angie's List coupon, they finished a bit early! With all that, there were no extra charges, so the price was far lower than ANY of the other service providers from whom estimates were received. If (most likely--when) we move again, we're calling them for sure!

It went very well. The crew wasted no time. They were very efficient and very careful.

Excellent service. Very professional, courteous and hard working staff. It took a lot longer than we originally thought due to the amount of our household goods. The staff took extra care with all the furniture. They worked late into the night to make sure that everything was done. Would definitely hire again!

I talked with Anne a week or so before and she talked me through the process and costs. She confirmed a day before. The guys showed up on time, they were friendly, professional and worked quickly. They packed our truck really well. Would use them again!!

The gentlemen showed up on time and completed the job quickly and professionally. I had called for several quotes and they were the most reasonable. The office was very responsive in returning my calls and explaining what would be done. I would definitely work with NOVA Express movers again.

Went great...they arrived within the expected time-frame...Even had an extra person... loaded quickly and safely, and then at the other end unloaded and positioned the big furniture without incident.

Excellent, Shaun, Vee and Joe were wonderful. They were very careful moving my furniture into my new home with new stairs and floors such that nothing was damaged.

Highly recommended. Moved me about 250 miles. Less expensive than the big national mover that I received a quote from, and also had same day delivery, whereas the big national mover was going to give me a 2 day delivery window. These guys were outstanding. For price context, they were moving a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, 2,400 sq ft house. It completely filled up a truck... not sure if the truck was 20 ft or maybe 25 ft.

Shaun and Kay did a great job prepping the glass bookcases for the short move. Everything was handled expertly and with professionalism. NOVA Express Movers were able to provide me with same day service. I would definitely recommend them to others.

We used this mover because they had good reviews (over a year ago- I thought I submitted this review a year ago) and gave a lower estimate than another company and our new landlord recommended them. This was my worst move experience ever. As I wanted the most accurate estimate possible, I requested an in-person visit to assess what was required for our move. I showed Amine everything that needed to be moved, including opening the closets and showing him the storage space. I also told him that the distance from the elevator to the apartment we were moving to was much greater than where we moved from. At that time, then on the phone and again by an email, I stressed the need to complete the move by 5:30 P.M., as required by the building. When I received the estimate for providing two movers, I questioned whether two would be enough since four movers did our previous move. He assured me two were enough. Not only was I charged over $400 more than the estimate, but since they did not finish until 7:30, I had to pay $150 more to the building for going way past the time permitted. Because they finished so late, they did not finish putting all the furniture back together. Some items were damaged, but that was ignored in the mover's response to my emails. I contacted Amine on the afternoon of the move to say I was worried the movers would not finish in time, since they still had not moved everything out of our apartment. I also let the movers know about the time deadline. He should have sent additional help when it was clear it was needed. He did not send 2 more men until around 5:30, when they were supposed to be finished. I re-injured my back by carrying items from the truck to my apt. in an effort to speed the more. Not only were two movers not enough for timely completion of the job- the truck was too small to fit our belongings. However I was not aware that they did not move everything they were supposed to move until I returned to the old apartment. The movers did not tell us how much they left behind. We had to make several trips back to our apartment to get everything for which the movers did not have room in the truck. I requested, at minimum, the $150 I had to pay for the elevator late fee, not to mention if I had gone with the previous company, they would have done the job correctly their estimate was less than I ended up paying. I received $100 refund- not enough for me to give a higher rating.

Move went well, however, afterwards several broken pieces of furniture were discovered. The reimbursement for damage items were pennies on the dollar.

Excellent! Quentin and Rob were very professional and very careful about wrapping and protecting furniture including glass table tops and wall paintings. Did the entire job in a very efficient and timely manner. My wife and I were very impressed and would highly recommend them.

It went perfectly. Movers were on time. Worked efficiently and carefully. Put down pads to prevent tracking in dirt and cleaned up carefully as they went along. From my standpoint, it was a perfect move.
