When I received my fabric from another vendor (paid $1,100) , brought it to McClean and made the order. I had misplaced the written price quote, but remembered the price; however at that time, McClean told me that the price was higher because I had ordered the seat cushions to be memory foam and that brought the price up from the original quote. I countered that I specifically remember that the original quote included the memory foam. I made a down payment. I later found the misplaced price quote and called McClean, asking them to reduce the price to the original quote since I had written proof. They refused to lower the price. Six weeks after my order, I still had not received my sofa; I called McClean and they told me that it would probably be 8-10 weeks. Two other vendors had met the $3,720 price quote, but we went with McClean strictly because of the three week delivery promise. So now we were paying more than the price quote and more than we would have paid elsewhere, and were waiting longer than promised for our sofa. When our sofa finally did arrive, it was a hot and humid day. The delivery men (there were two), took the cushions out of the plastic cover and carried them over their shoulders into the house. They were sweating profusely and had transferred their sweat onto the top of the sofa cushion, soiling it. After the sofa was brought into the house, I discovered it was dirty, the cushions weren't stuffed well and they sewed a piece of fabric with a flaw on a visible side of the sofa. Additionally bolsters which came with the sofa were "under stuffed" and looked horrible. Also, there were no support brackets included with the sofa, which we were told by the competitive vendors were included, and which we saw on the floor model at one of the competitive stores. We were told that brackets would be forthcoming. Precedent (the manufacturer) sent a rep, requested by McC lean to inspect the sofa. She took additional photos and agreed the sofa was soiled throughout and the cushions were poorly stuffed and sized. Apparently the foam fillers were larger than the seat covers made for them. After three weeks, we settled for having the sofa professionally cleaned and we received new bolster fillers (after two failed attempts) that finally fit properly. We were told we could buy the brackets ourselves and install them. McClean's manager, Herland, was very pleasant throughout the entire process, but did not back up his representations as we expected. Another vendor might have offered to replace the entire sofa, including the fabric, and compensate me for the additional waiting period, and at the very least refund the delta between the price quote and actual price paid, but McClean made no attempt to do so. Considering I paid over $5,000 for a sofa, I expected better customer service. I won't be doing business with them any time soon.
