It didn't go at all. John never provided the promised estimates.
The cleanup and removal of old shingles and paper was also impeccable. Great Job!
HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION !!!
We had quotes from several other companies and found that KCSI was very honest and provided high quality services at a very reasonable price. The crew did a great job with the window installation and repair of our porch, and also thoroughly cleaned up after they completed the job. We were very pleased with this company and highly recommend them.
Between the time I signed the contract to have the work done and the actual start date, Mike regularly updated me on the status of the siding order, delivery of materials and project start date. On the day work started, he showed up at my door with his entire install team and introduced them by name - nice touch. Mike was also on site for at least a portion of each day and made sure I had no issues or concerns. As it turned out, there were fewer additional problems than I expected and Mike presented several options for resolution. Unexpected issues included localized termite damage that was repaired at a very reasonable
price and a flashing issue at the roof line of a new sun porch ? also corrected at minimal cost. The only ?major? issue was one large picture window (1 of 4) that had totally rotted across the bottom sill and could only be fixed for the short term. The other 3 windows had some water damage but Mike and his team were able to save them. I was actually anticipating having to replace at least two windows. Mike gave me a number of options for windows that would be suitable as a replacement and worked with me to make sure the window I chose met all my needs ? both functionally and cosmetically.
I should note that in addition to the siding, Mike?s team replaced all the aluminum used to wrap the brick molding. The previous wrap job wasn?t really holding up and didn?t look good, even when it was brand new. His install team replaced it all and it looks
amazing ? crimped to match the brick molding exactly, complete with mitered corners. My house looks brand new and I won?t have to worry anymore about painting trim or wood rotting!
Bottom line: Mike and his install team did an amazing job. The job was priced fairly and the final bill was incredibly close to the original estimate - so very few surprises that were not included in the original estimate. The open lines of communication/quick response with Mike removed all angst normally associated with a large renovation project. I'd recommend you not even bother getting other estimates and just go to KCSI for any roofing/siding/window needs.
KCSI did a fantastic job and we couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the work and how our house looks. We had estimates from two other respected companies, but chose KSCI because of the quality of the estimate/consultation, competitive price, and reviews about attention to detail. They did not disappoint. John K. oversaw the project and kept us informed throughout the process and responded to all of our questions/concerns. The crew, led by German, was incredibly hardworking. They were professional and affable throughout the project. They did a great job cleaning up and taking care of final touchups. The company even used left over material to re-side and install trim on our storage shed abutting the house -- this detail was a big and welcome contribution to the project. We would highly recommend KCSI because of the quality of their work and attention to detail. Throughout, we felt that we were working with a company that we could trust.
I called John in October 2013. He pulled up the old estimate and agreed to use same price. I also added more work.
John was really easy to work with and he also supplied various options and recommendations (ie do entire roof, replace/upgrade sheathing, etc.). He was very detailed oriented and was double-checking the job all day.
Work conducted was:
-Remove top roof ridge vent, replace all bad sheathing, shingle over new sheathing.
-Replace all top roof pipe collars.
-Remove and replace ridge vent on lower roof.
-Replace any worn shingles.
-Remove and replace front upper gutter with larger size.
-Remove and replace front lower roof gutter.
-Remove rotted gutter spacing wood on soffits and replace with pressure treated.
-Add new larger downspouts to both.
-Install gutter covers (I supplied material).
-Conducted paint touch-up as needed.
Job was started and finished in one day. Crew of 6 or 7 guys went immediately to work on all areas and were very easy to talk to/work with. No communication problems . All debris was cleaned up. Work looks great!
I thought this was a very fair price for the amount of work completed. I would not hesitate to call KCSI back for another job and I have already recommended them to my other Truro neighbors.
The crew of about 4 men ripped out the old box bay and replaced it with a much improved, sturdier version, using Azek PVC trim boards. The team put in two full days in extremely hot and humid weather, and completed the task. John came by several times daily to check out the progress. They cleaned up thoroughly before taking off.
I had before and after photos ready to post, but it doesn't appear that Angie's list accepts photos anymore!
I was very pleased with KCSI's work, and would highly recommend them for any exterior job.
KCSI offered to fix it correctly by removing every back down to the studs if necessary and building it back out correctly. I requested that they use a cement fiberboard that looked like T1-11 for the exterior due to the unrelenting heat it gets from the sun. They also recommended a change to my materials list for some potential wet areas from run-off.
They needed to replace a boatload of trim all around the house that had taken physical abuse over the years as well as deal with a couple of ugly bay window panels that I've disliked since I bought the home. They brainstormed how to deal with it and were very creative in coming up with multiple possibilities until we came up with the perfect solution.
They also needed to repair a hole in one of the panels on the back. Birds had been nesting in the wall for a couple of years. Although I told them I'd be happy with whatever they could do, the repair was almost invisible. They were pretty proud of that repair and had every right to be.
Finally, I had an issue with water running down between the house and the garage. The original builder apparently just built the garage right up against the finished cedar panels of the house. KCSI did a superb job cutting a strip out of the paneling to put the correct z- and step-flashing in place with new trim boards. They did the same with a mid-line rake in the center of my roof which had been ignored for years. I have no concerns with water coming in any more.
They were fast, professional, and reasonably priced. John was a pleasure to work with, German (John's foreman) knew his stuff and came up with many of the solutions, and the entire crew could not have been better. I am an extremely picky customer when it comes to a final product being done right. A few contractors have complained that I was too picky. I'm not. I just expect them to do a better job than I could do myself. But KCSI's work was top notch. I would use them again without hesitation. It went so well, I told John to feel free to use me as a reference. I have never done that for any other company.
