Outstanding experience from sales through installation.

The result is it went extremely well from job estimate provided by Pete to updating the estimate after Q&A, to selection of Pete's company to scheduling by Ryan to installation by Nelson. Nelson, the installation Tech was top notch. The Ops manager Ryan was very responsive. There was a small material issue that he quickly addressed. I would recommend them for the value of the price charged and the quality of the installation. I had requested quotes from several contractors, and the one I thought I would go with that also impressed me but happened to be $164 cheaper became non-responsive to my follow-up. And they advertised themselves as being #1 in my area. Background if interested in additional details: This job was similar to one done about a month ago where the reviewer indicated the home was older with old wood carriage doors in dismal condition. What sets Fairfax Garage Door (FGD)/Gaithersburg Garage Door (GGD) apart from the others is at least one of their technicians has carpentry skills, and is why they could tackle a job where other companies won't. I had issues with wood rot in two areas - jack plate between the center column separating the two garage doors and the exterior trim (vertical jambs). While I decided to replace the jack plate myself and hired a Handyman for the trim; knowing Pete's company could and would provide one-stop shopping was very important in my decision to hire FGD/GGD. The meticulous tech, Nelson, completed the job in less than 6 hours, which included helping me move my project car to open up the space to answering my questions and training me on the new controls (panel and remotes). Fairfax garage door will not service adjacent towns because it is Gaithersburg garage door. They have good reviews but don't provide service in the area.

Technician reprogrammed remotes, realigned sensor etc explaining what he was doing so that in the future I have the knowledge to deal w any similar problems. Prompt, personable.

I checked with three garage door companies. Fairfax Garage Door was the most responsive by far. Their price was competitive and the product had good reviews. The person who came to install the doors was clean, neat, personable and efficient. He took time to answer my questions and offered information about maintaining the doors and motorized opener. When he was done he had cleaned up and swept where he had been working. The new doors are almost silent and I can already feel the difference from the insulation in them. I am very pleased with the product and the work performed and would definitely recommend this company to others.

Very well. We took a long time to decide exactly what we wanted but once we did the job was done very quickly and completed in one day by a polite and helpful crew.

After the repairman (otherwise excellent) left, I noticed four of the roller spindles, the last set of the eight to be put on, were extra long, and the shiny top two could easily be seen from the outside through the garage door window. Since another appointment would be difficult, I thought about sawing down the spindles (a tough job) or just taping the visible portion up with black electrician's tape (which I did). I haven't called the company to complain, as another visit would be problematic for my brother and presumably them. I'm guessing the repair person didn't have another set of regular spindles and just used the long ones. They function fine, but they do protrude. I don't know if this is a common practice (though I've never seen it before) or if there's a safety hazard, but, once one takes the time to notice, one can easily see that something is unusual. For this reason, on your second rating request, I didn't give them an overall "A." If putting on extra-long spindles is common practice, I'm open to changing my rating. They were not able to do it in the time frame that I wanted. We ended up getting new garage doors from another company.

Based on the Angie's List review, I called Fafirfax Garage Door and scheduled a garage door spring replacement at my home. When the technician arrived I was surprised to see he was from a company in Maryland and not Fairfax Garage Door. He explained that his company took overflow work from Fairfax Garage Door and was bound by their high standards. I asked for an estimate of the replacement of my broken garage door spring. He quoted me $325 which I thought was bit high but not unreasonable for a service call, a new spring and the installation. He had the proper repalcement spring on his truck and he installed it in 1 hour. He also inspected and lubricated both my garage doors at no extra charge. Based on this experience I would use Fairfax Garage Door again.

Fairfax Garage Door provided excellent service. They answered the phone promptly and offered me a 2-hour time window the same day. The time frame was very convenient so I didn't have to reschedule other plans. The technician arrived at the beginning of the time windowy and installed the new garage door opener quickly. I would recommend them and would use them again. Thank you.

Fairfax Garage Door, Inc was the only company of the 4 we called from Angies List to actually answer the phone, the other 3 companies I had to leave a message and as of the writing of this review, only 1 has called me back (left messages 2 days ago), the 1 that did call me back a day later was going to have his secretary call me right back to schedule for them to come out, it has been over 24 hours since and I am still waiting for them too call me back. Needles to say, when (or if) they call me I will be able to tell them no thank you for their service. Any how, on to Fairfax Garage, as mentioned above they actually answered the phone when I called and they tried to squeeze me in on the same day, but my schedule would not work with theirs, so they came the next morning and he was on time, very professional, took the time to listen to me with the problem I was having with the door. We would use them again if needed and will highly recommend them to others.

Fairfax Garage Doors installed two insulated garage doors. Everything was smooth and timely. The doors still look great.

The installer was quick and efficient, and delivered the promised product with no surprises.

As I noted noted in the rating, Fairfax Garage did an an overall excellent job. I was referred to them by the door manufacturer as the original installer no longer does business in Virginia. I called and explained what I thought needed to be done and set up an inspection. A Gaithersburg Garage truck showed up at the scheduled time, which confused me at first since I had called Fairfax Garage, but the gentleman explained that they were all part of the same company. He check out the garage door and verified what needed to be done, providing with me a quote for the job. I was little surprised at at first as the cost was almost what the entire door and installation had originally cost, but it's been several years since the door was installed and in fairness a big chunk of the cost was for the new panel and parts, so it's hard to put too much of a dig at Fairfax Garage. I went ahead and signed up for them to do the job. A strange twist occurred several hours later when another rep, this time with Fairfax Garage Door on the van, showed up to give me a quote. He already had a quote in his hand explaining that he was able to examine the gargage door (it was open) and determine was needed to be done. I mentioned that I had already seen someone from the company and signed a quote from them. He was confused at first but then indicated that on occasion if another rep is close by, they will take the call. I was fine with this, but I will note that I was able to glance as his quote and saw he was going to charge me $100 for the same job from the same company. All I can say is I'm glad he didn't get to the house first. It took a couple of weeks to schedule the installation as they had to wait for the panel to be shipped from the manufacturer. I was at work that day so I can't comment on the work as it progressed, but the end result looked great. The even added angle iron to the top of the panel to provide extra rigidity and strength. The company and job met all my expectations.

They had a good selection of materials and good recommendations. The price was fair and it was quality workmanship.

We were very satisfied. Everything went fine. They completed the work in one full day. There were no problems.

It was fine. Everything was good. About a year after it was replaced we had a problem with the sensor and openers. They came right out and fixed it at no cost. They actually said it was something they should have replaced during the initial installation.

They are great. I’m satisfied. It took them a day to install.
