Very pleased with service. Steve and Dan, Service Mgr., diagnosed the problem as a failed battery, which was replaced. Other parts/components were tested and found to be OK Although they were extremely busy, they bent over backwards to do the job quickly and answer all my questions. They are true professionals.

They are the best and I can always trust them. They do not try to do work that is not needed. I would highly recommend them and I will continue to use them.

They were exceptionally professional and polite, the service department told me I could drop it off in their lot, and they would take a look next day. I had an appointment for 2pm, by 10am they had already taken a look at the car and diagnosed the issue. They provided me with all the details and explained the necessary fix. Not only did they diagnose and fix the issue, they also did an overall vehicle check, providing me with some things to consider and watch for in the future. Overall, my experience was great, I will surely be a return customer.

From start to finish, my car was well cared for. The customer service was excellent and the information provided was straight forward. They not only handled the repair but also gave my car a complete review in order to address any other issues at the same time. I will definitely go back again for future service requirements.

Excellent, I think I've found my new auto repair spot

Recently I took my car to have its periodic maintenance at the dealer. I was told that my car had a major rack & pinion problem that required a costly repair. I decided to get a second opinion. After the owner of Fairfax Auto Repair checked my car for the major problem, he took the time to show me the underside of my car and explain that there was no rack & pinion leak. My experience at Fairfax Auto Repair gained my trust and business. Everyone was professional and attentive. I would recommend this business to others.

The work was done quickly and exactly as agreed to. I'll be a repeat customer for sure.

They put freon in my car. They said they would not charge me for the freon. I paid $149 for them to identify the problem. I said I would wait. I don't drive all the time as I am retired. It has been since July 6th and the air conditioning is still working. So I am happy for now.

It took longer than they told me it would (3.5 hours vs 2 hours) but the price was fair and the work seems to have been done well. They have wifi in their very small waiting area so I was able to get some work done while waiting. I will definitely use them again.

I've been going there for probably 3 years and I really like their service. They are very clear about what they are going to do and they execute it and it's usually on time.

They are pretty nice people. They are honest and pretty straightforward. They get things done and they tell you exactly when to pick up the car and it is usually ready. They provide good estimates. They tell how much time and money it is going to take and there are no surprises. They're the best.

Declining Quality Alert Be careful with this place! This auto repair shop has experienced staff turnover in the past 3 months. As a result, both quality and customer service have declined. I miss AJ and the previous auto service managers as well as receptionists who no longer work here. I initially came in for an oil change and 140,000 mile checkup on my 2006 Honda CR-V, but was upset by a call an hour later. The new service manager, Otto, (who joined 3 months ago in Feb. 2017), called me to explain the oil change was finished. Before talking about the 140,000 mile checkup work, he pushed me to authorize a $64 pressure test related to the radiator fluid. I have NEVER been pushed by Fairfax Auto Repair to authorize a test without an explanation for why it was needed and the pros/cons of having the work done at a later time. What was worse – I asked him for an estimate of the remaining 140,000 mile maintenance work if the pressure test was not done. He said he would get back to me later… That was a huge RED FLAG. I ran from the coffee shop to pick up the car and decline any work. Luckily, I got there in time. On the billing sheet, the mechanics planned to “upsell” the following services that had nothing to do with the 140,000 mile checkup: (1) tire re-alignment, (2) remove & replace cabin air filter, (3) front and rear differential fluid service. I know that restaurants can rapidly decline in quality when the manager or staff changes, but I had no idea that an auto repair shop could experience the same problem. Be careful with this place and any suspiciously positive Angie’s List reviews! It’s not the same auto repair shop. I’m disappointed that I have to find a new auto repair shop, but at least I can warn other Angie’s List readers before it’s too late.

I did the work elsewhere. There was no charge for the estimate; it was over the phone. I was in a place that gave me a quote that seemed real high so I called around to see for that same work. They gave me a price that was substantially lower than where I was. Then I did some more calling around and I got an even better price somewhere else. I price was on the good side of normal but I found a place where the price was really, really excellent. I would have expected their quality to be an A based on their reputation. They picked the phone right up. I thought the guy was perfectly fine.

I have been going to Fairfax Auto for a few years now. They are always very professional and responsive. And they do not push you for additional repairs like their competitors. They just give you the facts. I have used the great deal they offer on Angies List for the Oil Change. But the last two visits have brought on the added fee for shop expenses...approx $8.00. This was a total suprize and unexpected. It is not listed anywhere on the Coupon or in Angies List 'fine print'. I pointed this out during both visits and did not pay the extra fee. I think most people will gladly pay the extra fee, as the coupon is still a great deal, BUT the owner needs to work with the Angies List representative to get their coupon adjusted. I really like these guys...but they need to get the coupons updated...and should honor theses that have already been bought.

I got a deal for 2 oil changes. I liked the deal. I was able to get in. They were able to take care of the issues, and I was able to get out of there. There wasn't anything extra. They just did the oil changes and I got out.

Timely, fast, smooth running operation

They were fantastic. I had just had stitches put in my head so I could not lean over into the engine compartment to check things myself (doctor's orders). The guys at Fairfax Auto Repair were able to quickly diagnose the problem (loose electrical connection) and get me running again. They also found a few longer term maintenance items that will need to be fixed eventually, but given the low miles I drive each year, didn't merit any immediate work. What I really liked was that they didn't try to upsell me on any other unnecessary service. I have had other mechanics try to sell services that I know I don't need (e.g. replace plugs and coils even though I had replaced them myself in the last 5k miles). I do the vast majority of car maintenance myself, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to go back to Fairfax Auto in the future.

I bought the 2 oil changes for $25 deal and upgraded to the synthetic. Scheduling was a breeze and I was able to sit and wait for my car. The guy at the front desk was polite and professional and not pushy when they told me my brake pads & rotor needed to be changed.

OJ was so awesome to work with. He promptly called me with a detailed estimate for repairs on my Honda Accord Hybrid and even made sure to tell me which items should be repaired and which items I didn't need to fix right away or at all. I have been to auto places all over Northern VA for over 10 years and I have never had such a pleasant experience having my car serviced. My car felt brand new when I drove off the lot. I have already recommended the shop to several of my friends and will be taking all of my vehicles to Fairfax Auto Repair in the future.

I had not used Fairfax Auto Repair before, but it had excellent reviews that proved to be right. My Toyota Sienna developed a gusher of an oil leak and I had to have the car towed to a mechanic. I was uncertain where to send my car, but I wanted a repair shop that wouldn't take advantage of the fact that I couldn't easily take the car elsewhere if the they provided outrageous repair recommendations or estimates. Thankfully, the team at Fairfax Auto Repair was very honest. They quickly diagnosed the high pressure leak in my oil cooler line, provided a fair estimate, and returned the vehicle to me within 24 hours. I could not believe we had the car back the next day. Thank you Fairfax Auto Repair.
