The plan was fairly well done, but a little difficult to read. However, the price for the plan was very reasonable. Hthey also provided a proposal to perform the renovations, which was 2-3 times more expensive than any other proposal that we received.

Our kitchen update is absolutely gorgeous! Russell was available via cell phone to discuss any concerns we had and Aazeal was always a friendly voice in the office. Russell kept us close to budget and Luis, his foreman, was easy to talk with on site. The project took longer than we expected, but we love our new kitchen.

The renovation plan provided by Cyrus proved to be a useful starting pint for my project, although some significant alterations were made by other contractors who actually performed the work.

Appointment for discussion and measurement was done promptly and discussion and plan development were done professionally and quickly. Questions were welcomed and addressed completely. Plans produced had good detail and great detail on estimate for the work. Estimate for the work came in higher than another by about 15% so didn't award Cyrus the work but would have no problem dealing with them in the future, completely courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Plans provided were well worth the price paid in planning for the work.

I would highly recommend Cyrus Construction. Russell was easy to work with and made sure the work was completed exactly to my requests, while keeing the job within my budget. He was able to design my bar exactly as I envisioned it, while helping along the way with items such as finding the granite I wanted at a much more reasonable price. The installer was knowledgeable and installation was completed perfectly. Add to list Edit

Horrible. Never use them. If this is how they approach a design, their work would be horrendous.

Not only did we get horrible and inaccurate drawings, they were varied unusable sizes. All attempts to get it correct were met with upsale and zero attempts to deliver the service we paid to receive.

We worked with Russell Blake on this bathroom remodel. This was the first major remodel we had to do on our house so we weren't sure how the process worked on this type of project. Russell was very professional and helped answer all the questions that we had. Once we determined all of the materials that we wanted and had everything collected, we were able to schedule the remodel for about a week later. The remodeling phase only took 3 days, the workers were very nice and were here from about 10am - 8pm during those 3 days. Overall, the process took about 2 months, but that's also due to the fact that we were waiting on other proposals from other companies and it took us awhile to determine what tiles we wanted. We will definitely use Cyrus Construction again when we do our master bathroom remodel.

Excellent. Worked with Russell Blake on design ideas and fixtures. The project was estimated to take 3-4 weeks and was completed in 4. The crew did a great job on the project and left the house and yard spotless. They cleaned up the work area everyday as promised. The cost estimate was very reasonable and the few change orders were handled promptly and reasonably. Overall, working with Russell Blake and Cyrus was a great experience. We are very pleased with the new kitchen.

I got a good report from them. They did a good job. I gave them the highest rating. We haven't contracted with them to do the actual work because he was really the first person we talked to and we had nothing to compare what he gave us to. Very soon we'll start. And I wrote in the evaluation that we were still considering him to do the work but we hadn't investigated enough. He did the design of the basement but I was also looking for somebody who not only could do the actual construction work but somebody who could give advice on the materials and...100% renovation type. What work materials you should use, what type of flooring you should use, maybe what colors you might want to consider. That's the hardest part as far as I am concerned. That's what I really need some help with...the design of and help in choosing materials and furniture. The whole thing is what I am looking for. He estimated the cost to be about $24000. I would give him an A because he sent us some very detailed plans and he listened to what it is we want and he gave us like suggestions . I was hoping to get some design input as well but it's probably my fault for not realizing what the parameters of the plans were going to be. So he did a fantastic job on the plans and he was very prompt. He was very polite and he sent us all the information when he said he would. He offered to have a consultation with us afterwhich. Because it was so close to Christmas, we were really busy and actually didn't have the time. We haven't ruled him out at this stage. We sort of kind of got interrupted and haven't gotten back to the project. On price; here is where I am not sure. I give them an A because I don't have anything to compare it to really so I wouldn't want to downgrade them for something I have no knowledge of. It sounds expensive but it's a lot of work. He had some wonderful suggestions and the quality of the drawing was very good. He was totally punctual. He was right on time...to the minute. He was right there. He wasn't too early, he wasn't too late, he was right on time. He was very professional. I would definitely recommend this service. It was a really good experience. I felt like we got our money's worth from him coming. We have some things that we are considering that we weren't considering before we talked to him. He had some really good suggestions. He sent us excellent designs. He sent us the detailed analysis of the cost. He was very thorough. He asked us how we intended to use the room and we explained to him what we wanted to do in the room. He did a lot of measurements and he gave us some suggestions. For instance we knew our bathroom is sort of a few steps up from the room and we knew we wanted to take it down but he gave us a suggestion of moving the door which we hadn't thought of before. so that was a really good suggestion because it changes the whole space by doing that. That was the type of thing he did. He found out how you wanted to use your room. He had experience. He analyzed the room and stuff and gave us these suggestions which we hadn't considered before which is exactly what we wanted. It was the first step that we took in making a plan for this room.

Our basement utility/laundry room was unfinished, dark, grubby, and inconvenient. James appreciated that we wanted a bright, functional work place rather than a spendy total renovation. He suggested several practical changes at a reasonable price. Since we were expecting family guests for Thanksgiving, it was necessary to complete the work as fast as possible. Cyrus rose to the challenge magnificently, and was a pleasure to work with. We are very pleased with our bright, open, functional work space. We appreciated the ease of communication, and close cooperation were very satisfied with our experience with Cyrus Construction.

First let me say, if you contract with Cyrus Construction, insist on having Van as your lead foreman. I have done many home projects, and Van is the best I have ever worked with. I am sure they have many excellent foremen, but wait for Van, and you will be really happy with his results. We received an email from Angies List for a Custom Basement Design with measurements and a Set of Plans for $99.00. We had been wanted to do something with our basement, so my wife contacted Russell Blake from Cyrus Construction Company to conduct the design. Russell was very responsive and we met within a few days of contacting him. We walked the basement and discussed our ideas. Russell took detail measurements and submitted a proposed design and cost estimate that evening. Russell provided us with a number of vendors to pick our tile, bathroom fixtures, etc. Having done many projects ourselves, we preferred to use vendors that we had worked with before. We did visit Russell’s office to pick out our flooring. Russell had all the samples for us to look at, which was extremely convenient. We had also contracted with Russell to replace two 50 gallon water heaters. During the course of the project, we decided to get a Tankless Water Heater system. Since I felt this was specialized product, I chose to have a third party install it instead of Cyprus Construction. Our basement has a support pole that we wanted to blend in with the finished basement as much as possible. I showed Van a picture of a Center Pole that had been modified into a bookshelf. Van was able to take the picture and turn our pole into that beautiful bookshelf. That is real skill! Russell also saved us some money by having us obtain the building permits. He prepared all the paper work, we just when to the County Offices and got them. It was quite easy. Russell and Van always took care of scheduling the county inspections, so the work could continue smoothly without any stoppage. During the course of the effort, we made a number of Change Orders to the contract, either from our need to add work, or to reduce work. Russell was very easy to work with when we needed these changes made. He promptly submitted a Change Order by email that day with the cost adjustment of the Change Order and the total cost change for the contract. I really appreciated this, as we were always on the same page of the work effort and contract cost. Our finished basement and bathroom are beautiful! We love showing it off to friends!

Excellent, professional, timely, and reasonable price. The only recommendation would be for the drawings to be 8x10, instead they were thumbnails embedded in a contract, otherwise, very good advice and recommendations.

As stated in a previous review, we had problems from the beginning. Most of the company response centers on our house being built in the early 1900s and them having "leveling issues". I completely agreed with them, our house is not level, all I asked for was a FLAT floor, knowing it would not be level; I don't think they understood the difference. We have since had to have much of the work they completed and "guaranteed" redone by a different contractor as they made mistakes from the floor to the ceiling. In hiring a new contractor to do the work correctly we found additional issues including incorrectly installing the sub-floor, incorrect wiring and plumbing, incorrect appliance installation and vent lines. James also convinced me I did not need permits and that he would charge me more to get them if I wanted them (not legal and I never should have listened to him). Despite numerous attempts to address issues with James and hold him to his "Don't worry, I guarantee my work" promise I had persistent problems. He even threatened not to attempt fixes under his "guarantee" unless I changed all my Angie's List grades to A. I learned my lesson the hard way, I hope you don't do the same and I would advise anyone to take caution in hiring this company.
Response from Cyrus Construction LP
"Well, in our business, we always run into customers that are never happy. It does not matter what we may do. Such customers are negative by nature. This particular property was built in the 1900's in Washington DC. Though we were unable to give a brand new house (complete tear down and rebuild) for this $17000 kitchen renovation, we everything possible to create the illusion of such. We went back to this property three times and we remodeled down to the subfloor. To ensure the best finish, we utilized 3 of our highly skilled crews with over 40 years of experiences in each. To our surprise, each time this customer was still unhappy. You asked us to come back 3 times to address your concerns and we returned three times as requested despite our differences regarding the concerns. We are very sorry that you are still unhappy with our work. We will continue to work hard with all existing and future clients to avoid such a predicament in projects to come. Good luck to you and wish you a best. To potential customers who may read this review, we have completed over 400 other projects of this magnitude and beyond with excellent workmanship, pricing, and service. Please allow us the opportunity to earn your business. James"

End product was great. The company was particularly good about addressing any concerns we had about the finished product in a timely manner. Russ, our manager, was helpful in working with us to keep costs down and providing helpful suggestions on design. Reynaldo, our foreman, and his crew did a great job with the actual construction. Although the project took longer than we had initially anticipated, in the end we now have a great basement to enjoy.

Russell was hands down the most professional of all the contractors who bid on the project. Their bid was middle of the road on cost, but the professionalism was the deciding factor. We did have some communication issues during the project, but nothing that I felt was out of the ordinary. Russell took care of us in the end, so it was an overall good experience. Would definitely recommend Cyrus construction.

Getting a quote and getting started was very easy. Russel knows his business and gave excellent advice. The work started on schedule. That is when issues started. Dust was beyond what one could imagine. Russel told me that I should have told him and somebody would have come to clean but, when one arrives from a trip at 11 pm and the house is so dusty that impossible to step on the floor one has to either go to a hotel or mop the floors in the middle of the night (I chose the second). My son's clothes in the storage closet that is right behind the bathroom have been ruined by dust too -- when removing the tile from the wall, the workers poked a hole into the closet and never did anything about it -- all dust went straight into the closet. I did not find it out until later and had to throw most of the stuff out. When I was away, the doors into the bedroom somehow got opened and left that way -- collecting all the dust that was coming out of the bathroom and the dust curtain that was hang did not do anything to protect the rest of the house. The work was supposed to be done in 2 weeks but it took close to 5. I was away part of the time which resulted in crew not showing up for days in a row (a family member was checking on progress from time to time reporting that nothing changed). I had to chase Russel for days to get a response on what is going on. There was a problem with the floor and additional work had to be added. This was supposed to add 2-3 days but somehow the work took 3 weeks longer. In the end - project completed well, I like the result, the bathroom looks very good. I had a small issue later (the sealent detached from around the newly installed faucet), I emailed to ask if this can be fixed since it was just 2-3 weeks after the work was completed but never was given a response. I am not surprised (but dissapointed).

I originally found Cyrus Construction on Angie's List when I was looking for bids to compare to a contractor our friends used for a similar renovation. The reviews were great, so I felt good about giving them a call. We ended up choosing Cyrus over the other contractor. From day 1, our project manager, Russell, was awesome to work with. He gave us a very competitive bid for our project, was always available to answer questions, and never chased us down for money or argued with us over pricing. Not to mention, my dogs were actually calm around him, which hardly happens with anyone! We took a little while to kick things off, but once we did, they moved quickly to get everything done. Our lead contractor was Kenny, and he was just incredible. He has over 20 years experience in construction, and has a keen eye for detail. He did everything we asked of him, and more! We could tell he really takes a lot of pride in his work, and will stay late or come in on off days to get something done right. I would not hesitate to recommend Cyrus Construction, or to use them again for future projects. In fact, we will likely call them again when it's time to renovate our upstairs bathrooms. One word of advice I would give (and this is probably true with any contractor or huge project like this) is to be sure you understand what exactly is included in the contract price and what isn't. We ended up having a lot of questions about what materials were covered in the contract price and what was strictly labor, since they were sometimes combined on the contract and sometimes not. Prices that we initially thought were for both labor and materials ended up being just labor, so just be sure you ask about every line item whether that price includes materials or not.

We picked Cyrus Construction to design our basement based on our ideas for the basement. Russell came to our house and was very professional and gave us some ideas. Russell designed the floor plan for us. Although we went with another company for our project (basement cost was out of our price range), we found Cyrus Construction to be a great company. They were very helpful and provided great communication.
