Evan and his team did an incredible job fixing a water issue we had for nearly 10 years in our Alexandria Verizon Retail location. They could not have been more professional and efficient. We will continue to use them in our stores across VA. Their ability to take care of a large commercial job at a fair price makes them out go to drainage and water guys.

We initially hired Clifton Contracting in 2018 for a major renovation of the interior of our home (new kitchen, one new and three renovated bathrooms), which included taking out walls and reworking the space. We were very pleased with the work and then hired the company's waterproofing division to install an outdoor drainage system and waterproof the basement. In 2019, the company built a porch and patio around the pool, which turned out beautifully. In 2021, Clifton Contracting completed a basement renovation, We keep coming back. The owner, Chris Sodergren, has great ideas and great taste. His crew is first-class -- very talented and friendly -- and I highly recommend the company. Great value for the money!

The job was done exactly as I had expected and in record time. Chris is one of the few contractors whom I respect for taking a project personally and completing it like it was his own house. Most important are his reasonable pricing and work done in record time. We hired him to install a sliding door which required breaking down a concrete basement wall. It was done with utmost care with a supporting beam installed, all done in one day. He took another day to install a complete deck around the door. Looks awesome.

They were not the cheapest, but they were competitive and I believe I got better value for my money. Dave Robey was my salesman and he was a very nice guy, always responded quickly to my emails and texts at pretty much anytime of day. Being an engineer, I naturally had a few detailed questions that he could not answer, so he had the boss man come by and I was very pleased with the detailed explanations. I was nervous about the whole thing, cutting this big hole in a perfectly good concrete wall and all, but they had detailed answers to my various questions and it put me mostly at ease. The work started about a week after I got approval from my homeowners association. They arrived on-time and worked to pretty late in the day. They obviously cared about what they were doing and strove to do it well. As they went about it, I got more and more comfortable with it and believing that nothing was going to get "messed up". The people working the job were all very nice guys and worked hard. I had a finished basement, so this was being cut into a wall with wallboard and such. They did the whole installation and left it with zero mess inside and outside the house. The concrete cuts were smooth and very well done. He was very careful using the mini backhoe for the excavation and pulling that wall segment out. The 4'x5' window is fantastic looking, lets in a ton of light, and definitely made the room tremendously more cheerful. It is now 4 months later and we have had zero issues. We also had a very heavy rain due to remnants of a hurricane getting to us and we had zero water issues. They had tied down into the foundation drain and it all worked great. So, I would definitely recommend these people to anyone. They know what they are doing, they use their own full time employees, they have the insurance and workman's comp, etc. And they do great work and they communicate with you as much as you want/need them to.

For the scope of work performed, the price was very reasonable (less than I had expected). They also gave me a discount for prior Military service. Excellent crew.

Once the renovations were complete, we hired the company to fix a drainage issue in the backyard, waterproof the basement, and build a back porch. Clifton Contracting provides high quality work for a fair price.

Chris and his team worked quickly and efficiently. Chris responded to texts and phone calls quickly and answered any questions I had.

High-quality work at a good value. Chris and his crew, in particular Julio, were great to work with. Very detail-oriented, honest and polite. They remodeled our basement, stairwell and a portion of our main floor according to a complicated modern design, provided by an independent architect. They needed to make a few material modifications to the design when work was underway, and their solutions met our functional and aesthetic objectives well. The window well installation was a small portion of the overall work, but it was executed perfectly. We would gladly recommend Clifton for such work and engage them again if the need arises. In part because of the complexity of our renovation and in part because Chris had taken on several projects at once, our job took longer than we had originally agreed. That is the only negative we had from the experience, and we feel that such a situation could be addressed by tighter time management.

Chris was easy to work with, very knowledgeable and offered up several options. Got it done quickly - and the work came out great. Makes a huge difference in the downstairs bedroom.

Quality work, great price. Chris explained and priced out 3 options for addressing basement water issues. I went with adding clay an improving grading. He included window wells. Also had him add a portico with steps, which turned out to be the main job. Very flexible with giving the look we wanted. Well done job, fully permitted, which is no small feat in Arlington. Received many compliments from neighbors

I highly recommend Clifton Contracting. The owner and all his employees are great to work with and did an excellent job installing my egress window. They even worked with me to take care of some other home to-do's on the fly. They were a pleasure to work with.

I had an egress window and window well installed at my house to officially add a 4th bedroom. Then I had 8 ceiling fans installed in the house (three where there was no wiring or fan box before). I also had three extra electrical circuits run to the kitchen and 4th bedroom. Finally, I had a pocket door installed to be able to close the 4th bedroom in the basement. Then we passed a code inspection to ensure the city would accept everything. I had requested estimates from seven companies and only received estimates back from three. Four of the companies did not know how or did not want to do all three projects since they all required different expertise. The project went well. Clifton contracting had a window well digging and installation crew, a carpenter crew, and an electrician crew that all came in to work various phases of the contract over several different days. They did fast and good work. However, most of the workers spoke English as a second language, so there were a couple misunderstandings on the exact job description since we had three complicated different phases. The owner was true to his word and to his written estimate. He came and checked progress a couple times and sent his guys back when necessary to ensure his guys completed every part of the job estimate and that the work quality was high.

i hired them to install an egress window and they did and excellent job, cleaned debris and then I also hired them to sod the yard.

I hired Clifton Contracting to install an egress window in my basement, add an ARC breaker, and an additional fire detector to make a basement bedroom legal. In addition, they installed a slop sink and added a battery backup to my sump pump. I was very impressed with their workmanship, recommend them, and would do business with them again. The only disappointment I had was that when the county inspector came out, it was determined that an additional smoke detector was required. The wiring was already run to where the new detector was to be installed and a hole was already present as it was used to run the wiring for the other smoke detector. The only thing to be done was to simply splice the wires and secure the additional smoke detector. Rather than charging just for the smoke detector itself, I was responsible for the full price of a 'new install' ($250). I didn't feel this was right because I was never quoted for a second smoke detector and feel that county regulations should have been better understood so that this was known up front and agreed upon whether or not I was willing to pay $500 for the installation of two smoke detectors verses just the one for $250.... Again though, I do recommend this company, the work quality was great, and I would do business with them again - just was disappointed with this one item on the finance side.
