Everything went well until we used the trailer hitch. The hitch and the connection to the tail lights and turn indicators worked properly. When finished, we un-hitched the trailer and parked the car in the garage. The next morning, the "check engine" and other warning lights were on and we could not use cruse control. Our car is a 2015 with less than 7,000 miles on it and still under warranty so we called the dealer and had AAA tow the car from our home to the dealer. Later that day, they called about the repair. They asked if we had had any recent modifications made to the car and we told them about the trailer hitch. They sent the photos [attached]. They are before and after pictures of some of the repairs made. They also soldered and shrink-wrapped the connections between the car and the trailer hitches electrical harness. We were charged $100 for repairs.
We called Ziebart about this event. The manager immediately raised his voice and began accusing us of trying to blame or make his company responsible for car trouble which had nothing to do with the work they did. "Your car worked fine when you drove it off, didn't it," he asked. He went on to say "You only have their word that we caused a problem" and accused the dealer of "just wanting to have an excuse to charge us." By this time he was yelling and we couldn't get a word in so we did not continue the conversation.
Please note that he is casting aspersions on a dealer we have used without complaint since 2003 across 3 different cars all of which had trailer hitches added without incident until now.
