Nigel's terrific. Trustworthy, friendly, and most importantly, committed to safety. Jobs are priced based on the nature of the work, and we were very pleased with the outcomes. His crew arrived early in the morning, and worked like gangbusters to get it done.
He has all the modern Arborist equipment and tools to make these jobs go by smoothly. He was willing to work with us to deposit the wood chips in a hidden location to improve visual aesthetics.
We won't use another tree service. Nigel's our guy!
Nigel was superb in every way. I can't say enough about his professionalism, knowledge, responsiveness, etc...
When he came over, he was very friendly and I enjoyed talking to him. I was genuinely surprised when he told me that trimming the other tree over my garage would probably be a waste of money, because the cost of the work would be more than any damage it could cause (which my insurance would cover) and trimming that tree would only offer temporary peace of mind. I really appreciated the honesty and integrity, because certainly another tree service could have just done what I thought I wanted and taken my money.
Nigel emailed me the estimate Friday evening, and it was $350 less than another well-known tree service quoted me the previous year. I sent him a list of available dates, and we agreed on one about 2 weeks away.
On Sunday 5/26, he called me to say he had an opening the followind day (Memorial Day 5/27, my earliest suggested day) and would arrive that morning at 7am. This was a pleasant surprise, since I had expected to have to wait several weeks, and did not think he would be working on a holiday.
He arrived on Monday 5/27 exactly on time with his truck and a helper, who loaded out the equipment while I talked to Nigel. He said he would begin the job using a hand saw until about 8:30am, so as not to wake up any neighbors. I was again pleasantly surprised -- it hadn't even occurred to me that the chainsaws would wake them up! I left while they worked, and returned home a few times before they finished about 6 hours later. I was impressed by how careful they were to lower each branch with ropes, so it wouldn't fall on anything important. I asked Nigel if I could give him a check at that time, which he refused, saying that he'd only accept payment once the job was done and I was satisfied.
When it was done, the job site was very clean, and my neighbors who had talked to him said he was very friendly and courteous. He called me a few days later to ask if I was satisfied (I was!) and offered to swing by my house to pick up the check -- again, a pleasant surprise since I didn't feel like addressing and stamping an envelope. He then emailed me an invoice which was marked "PAID".
I will definitely call Nigel again the next time I have tree work.
