During a recent furnace failure that occurred in a snow storm, I contacted them at 10 pm on a Friday night and they had a field technician out the next morning who diagnosed the problem and offered both repair and replacement options. I chose to replace the unit and the new unit was installed on Monday. Office staff were responsive to my calls; field technicians were neat, prompt, and professional; and office management went above and beyond to get new unit installed in a timely basis. Vernon Heating/AC outstanding company and highly recommend getting an annual service contract.

I am very disappointed in the way the company addresses client's needs. I requested an estimate on duct insulation and was told by Margaret that in order to determine the need for that, a tune-up of the cooling system had to be done first with a fee of $69, which I agreed to. Margaret was kind enough to set it up for a weekend evening since we live/work out of town. The technician did not show up for the appointment although we traveled 4 hours round trip and waited at the property from 4-6 pm. During the 4-6 pm window we called the company - the staff who picked up told us that they would relay the message. We could have left the message ourselves - no need for staff to pick up and not do anything to remedy the situation and alert the technician why they had not reported and have him report to the property. After this we rescheduled and the technician did the tune-up, got paid and reported that the company does not do duct insulation. I called the company today and asked for clarification as Margaret had shared that yes, the company does duct insulation and now the technician is saying the opposite. In today's conversation I was told that the technician is right, that the company does not offer this service and that Margaret made a mistake in saying that the company did. This careless practice costs people money and time is not professional at all.

They came out diagnosed the problem quickly and fixed the immediate problem with the recommendation to replace the furnace. Unfortunately, their estimate was twice the average for the work. I did not hire them to replace the furnace.

I have a continuing contract with them. These are annual services and I have two systems. It is $165.00 per system for annual contract. They come out to your house twice a year to service the system. They do good work, but they are high priced. You have to negotiate to get the price down.

The ADCO technician showed up on time July 6, 2017, but had to spend some time just to find out why there was no power to the non-working Trane A/C; the cause turned out to be the door on the Air Handler in the attic was left not shut (unclosed) by the Vernon Technician. Once power restored, the Trane A/C unit was and is still working, without needing replacement of either TXV or the Coil. Total charge was $85.00. I gladly tipped Jon, the very knowledgeable, competent, and professional ADCO technician. Today, July 31, 2017, upon discovery that the $167.40 had not been credited back to my account, I called Nora of Vernon to inquire about where is my refund. She checked with someone, then I was passed on to one Sherry of Vernon, who gave me a song and dance litany that the $113.95 charge (for, in effect, not being able to fix the non-working unit, the no show) was a discount price for the “service contract of $167.40 and that we do not refund such money.” An elevated discourse ensued, including among others that I provide Vernon with proof of the $85.00 charge by ADCO, in effect, calling my veracity in question, and an ultimate insult that has led me to post this sordid experience with Vernon HVAC. Finally, the highly unpleasant discourse and unprofessional, if not incompetent, experience ended with Sherry saying that the matter will be reviewed by Supervisor Ashley, “who is on vacation.” In very simple terms, my experience with Vernon: $113.95 paid for diagnosis of my Trane A/C unit that was NOT fixed $167.40 charged for “Service contract” (cancelled, not yet refunded) $2,222.00 quoted for Coil and capacitor Over $4,000.00 quoted for maintenance cost for a working A/C ==================================== My experience with ADCO Air Distributing Co.: $85.00 for fixing the broken down Trane A/C unit $900 plus was quoted to replace the Coil for Trane, if needed (It was not needed)

He came within our scheduled time, and worked quickly and efficiently. It's nice to have a service technician that you feel you can trust, and John is very trustworthy. I would highly recommend John, and Vernon Heating & Cooling!

I was with Vernon Heating for many years and I thought they were doing an okay job and stuck with them. This young man didn?t represent them very well. I don?t know if he is still there or not, but I am no longer with Vernon because of that experience. I just didn?t feel comfortable with how this young man was acting and he was just trying his best to sell me a whole new unit. In my opinion, he was kind of just making things up. I thanked him and said I would consider his advice.
Then I called another company. The man came out and looked the situation over and said, ?here?s your problem, you need a thermostat. You don?t need a whole new system!? He put a new thermostat in. 

I parted ways with them because of that incident. I think it may have just been this young man that misrepresented the company. If they had sent somebody else, I might have still been with them because they have given me good service before. It?s just that, that episode really left a bad taste in my mouth. He was trying to talk me into several thousands of dollars when in fact, it was a relatively minor problem that was cured with less than $100. 
It was at my rental property that this young man came and wanted  to sell me a whole new system. He did come out, so that is at least some effort. They didn?t charge me anything because I didn?t go ahead and follow this young man?s advice. That was my last contact with them.

What stool out to me for my entire experience with Vernon was overall positive. I would say a ?B? overall for the years that I worked with them It was just this one episode that really turned me off. They could do better screening and training of their new employees. 
The price was an ?F?, because they wanted me to buy a whole system and we didn?t even get to the price, because I knew that they wanted me to replace whole heat pump. We are talking at least $3,00 or $4,000. The quality of that experience was pretty bad. They did come out right away, they came quickly. It was anything but professional. If I had been somebody that was more naive and hadn?t been around the block a couple times in my life, I think they could have easily taken huge advantage of me, and would have, and intended to. This young man intended to do that, I believe. 

They wouldn?t be the first person I call. It may be short sighted of me, I don?t know. That young man might no longer even be with them and they might still be with their old work force that did fine for me for several years. My natural inclination, first response would be to call somebody else. Once that happens to me, I just turn and go somewhere else. There are too many providers out there to poke around with somebody that treats you this way, even once. That is just beyond good sense.

The company performed the actual work fairly well, but I expect that from almost any service. What irritated me was the call from the city 2 1/2 yrs later, telling me that they'd not gotten the inspection that was required. I called Vernon and they did not return my call, so I called the city and set up the inspection. Afterward, I called Vernon again and this time got their inspections person. He told me that Vernon tells the home owner that they are responsible for working with the city to take care of the inspection, and that they send a letter to the homes notifying us of our responsibility. I do not recall receiving such information nor would I have agreed. Oh, and the city said it is the companies responsibility since they pulled the permit. Regardless, I informed Vernon that I will not be using them in my future replacements/work. There are ample companies that will be happy for the work and $$.

The company's been around for a long time. They're nearby. They are responsive. I used them 5 years ago or 6 years ago in a tremendously critical situation during the winter time when the heater broke. Their service people are professional. They seem to hire better people that come to the house. They're a reliable, dependable company that's been around for a while, that seem to hire good folks.

I have used them for years and have found them to be very good. They are good about coming when they say they are going to. The only drawback that we might have is that sometimes we get the feeling they are interested in selling something else when they come. You could use this, that or the other. Sometimes we go along with it and sometimes we don't.

We have been using them for about 10 years. We have a maintenance plan with them. They come out every quarter. We pay a monthly fee. They were fine and everything check out fine. They are a little high on their price. They always show up. They are always very pleasant. They were on time, clean, and professional.
