The initial interaction with Golden Gate relocation went well with a fair estimate with clear expectations. Then from there, that is when things went downhill. On the day of pick up, the estimate changed from approximately $4800 to $8700 due to having more items than we told them. we had no other option but to pay the additional rate as they had already put our items into the moving truck thus holding the items hostage. While the items were being loaded into the truck, my wife and mother-in-law, who were there at the house were told that they could only stay out on the patio and not supervise the move. Additionally, that is when they started going through our boxes and re-organizing our boxes, however they saw fit. With that being said once the items were delivered to our new home the first item that came out of the moving truck was our adjustable bedframe, which had a 24-inch long, tear in it due to improper handling by the moving company. From there, the refrigerator and the washing machine, both have dents and scratches on them from the move, looking like the washing machine had been stepped on inside the moving truck for whatever reason. As we started unboxing our items, we quickly discovered that some jewelry that was custom-made for my two-year-old daughter was made by my grandmother who passed away last year thus being very sentimental were found to be missing because the bags that they were in were opened the box they were in had been cut open and re-taped with the moving companies tape. Additionally, as we continued with the unboxing of our items, we also discovered that they had opened our boxes and placed the items inside of our furniture, such as our dressers and nightstands however they so fit. In our main dresser for the master bedroom, they had placed clothing that were my wife s undergarments and other intimate clothing, as well as her dress shirts, all stuffed into the dresser, causing the dresser to not be opened without significant force. We are continuing to unbox and discover more things as we go, but we believe we will find more things missing due to the movers asking us if we could give them items for free when they were packing up our house. As we have discovered things we have made repeated attempts to reach out to the moving company to get the issues resolved before escalating the situation, and I am being ignored by the moving company as a whole, except for one individual by the name of Lena. She expressed that her supervisor would call me back today, December 16, 2024, and I did not receive a callback. While researching for contact information for the movers since no one was answering my calls, I discovered that Golden Gate relocation has done this to many other clients as well, but not ones that had booked through Angi. This has happened so often that a class action lawsuit is being drafted, and the attorney has tried to have the company served, but they keep changing their addresses to avoid being served. I can provide the contact information for the attorney processing the case.
